As I mentioned on the previous thread, I hope someone can get the clip of Morning Joe this morning when he had Max Blumenthal on as his guest. When Joe didn't like what Max was saying he blew up. Max in the end kicked Joe's butt verbally. At one point joe was so pissed he turned his back on Max, but Max would not back down and just kept hanging in there making his points.
This was the best since Rep Weiner left Joe speechless.
I'm not home to watch Cup 'o' Starbucks....
My mother drives me & wife nuts because she wants to watch that, Cluster Fox Noise, & Hasselbecks shoutfest/the 'View' every morning so she can see what the 'other' side is saying...
But this...I could definitely watch.... Scarborough is the scab on the leg of MSNBC...
Joe talked over Max, he filibustered him, he told him to stop talking, but Max just kept plowing away. I thought and kinda hoped that Joe's head might explode. Had he been BillO, he would have yelled for someone to cut Max's mic. At one point I thought that's what Joe was about to say.
The clip is up now over at MSNBC if you want to view it.
Personally I wasn't impressed. It started out ok, but Joe did talk over Max and filibuster. He also cut him off, would not let him finish any points, and would not let Max interrupt. Much talk, little convincing on either side.
Joe's main problem seems to be the tit-for-tat balance. That even though the fringe elements of the Repub party are indeed trying to bring down the Pres, Dems didit too, so let’s play nice and all get along. Of course the problem with this is not in the balance, but the effect.
The Dems in Congress DID play nice with Bush – with disastrous consequences. The Repubs won’t play with Obama AT ALL; again, with disastrous consequences.
That point was never elucidated.
CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN! Obama orders federal government to cut emissions - http://www.reuters.com/article/environmentNew...
President Barack Obama ordered federal agencies on Monday to set a goal within 90 days for cutting their greenhouse gas emissions by 2020, the White House said, aiming to "lead by example" in fighting climate change.
The new executive order, signed by the president, mandates agencies across the federal government to "measure, manage, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions toward agency-defined targets," the White House said in a statement.
How the World Can Cut 13 Billion Tons of CO2 Per Year and Save $14 Billion in the Process - http://www.treehugger.com/files/2009/10/how-w...
1. Ramp up energy efficiency across the board, save $98 billion and 5.4 billion tons of CO2 by 2020. 2. Get 20% of the world's energy from renewables, save 1.3 billion tons of CO2 at the cost of $34 billion.
3. Reduce tropical deforestation by 50%. Save 6.5 billion tons of CO2 at the cost of $51 billion. $98 billion - $34 billion - $51 billion = Voila! Net savings of $14 billion dollars
Wow! We can avert global warming and save money? Who knew! Oh. That's right--every sensible proponent of climate action who ever tried to explain that fighting global warming doesn't mean breaking the bank to the skeptics, deniers, and stubborn conservative politicians. One of these days, they're going to have to start listening . . . (won't hold my breath)

What 30 years of con-servative fantasyland 'economic' policy has done to this nation... The demise of the dollar: In a graphic illustration of the new world order, Arab states have launched secret moves with China, Russia and France to stop using the US currency for oil trading
- http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/ne...
And...reason #2 we went to war in Iraq: Iran announced late last month that its foreign currency reserves would henceforth be held in euros rather than dollars. Bankers remember, of course, what happened to the last Middle East oil producer to sell its oil in euros rather than dollars. A few months after Saddam Hussein trumpeted his decision, the Americans and British invaded Iraq.

The next time you hear a con-servative talking about 'terrorism': Velvet Revolution - www.StopDomesticTerror.com
Recently, there has been an explosion in threats and acts of domestic terrorism. The majority of these can be traced to groups and individuals who do not accept the results of our recent election or the laws enacted or proposed by those who have been elected. They seek to undermine the democratic process through threats, intimidation, and even outright murder.
They can't accept the legitimacy of the President, or a woman's legal right to make choices about her own medical care, or an immigrant's right to be treated humanely under the law, so they carry out acts that are antithetical to American democracy, American values, and both civil and human rights.
There are plenty of right wingnut terrorists out there...McVeigh, Nichols, Rudolph, that POS that shot up the Unitarian Church in Tennessee, the Census lynching Kentucky hillpeople, The Tiller assasin, and the POS that shot up the Holocaust museum...its only going to get worse...and shame on the corporate media for continuing to enable them with their deafening silence...or in Cluster Fox Noise's case: enabling them to action...

Has Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi Created Titillating TV Fascism in Italy? - http://www.alternet.org/story/143093/has_berl...
Waving banners scrawled with "Berlusconi is bad for Italy's health," more than 100,000 people rallied to protest for a free press in Italy over the weekend. Not surprisingly, Italy's newspapers and television barely covered the event in Rome's Piazza del Popolo.

"It looks like EPA is prepared to do everything it can, within the existing regulatory framework, to protect the mountains and people of Appalachia," says Teri Blanton of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, a citizens' organization in the state where more than half the designated permits are located.
"This is great news, but it will take more than regulations to end the destruction. Mountaintop removal and valley fills should be banned."
Back in Washington, planning the next lobby week of coalfield residents and pinning their hopes on Congress to move forward on the Clean Water Protection Act, Pistello concludes: "The people of Appalachia are asking for mountaintop removal to be abolished, not regulated.
We will continue to bring residents to DC as long as mountains are being bombed and water runs black."

Scott Ritter on the Real News is worth a listen. He is one of the few anti war voices getting airtime these days. Otherwise the war with Iran is starting to look like a done deal.
At the rate we're going., the health care debate will end with a war in Iran.
See how that works America?
Just watched mini-presser after meeting with Obama - McCain thinks the war in Afghanistan is more like the war in Iraq than the war in Vietnam.
I'll have to think about that one.
Perhaps first we must establish why anyone would care what the man thinks who thought Sarah Palin was ready to be the vice president of the United States and possibly the President of the United States.
Patricia nailed it again...
Conversely
and unfortunately for those that tried to play by the rules, as this economic downturn worsens, you can expect banks not to foreclose on properties that are underwater, but as cash becomes hard or impossible to come by, the banks will foreclose on people that have equity in their property but are behind on their payments.
That happened in the first Depression; it'll happen in this one.
I did inhale.

Scary. This could mean baaad news for people in markets where housing prices are still strong. Especially if you're living from paycheck to paycheck.
Watched Lara Logan on Colbert report last night talking about Afghanistan.
She stated that Al Queda is all over Afghanistan and fighting with the Taliban.
Colbert pointed out that Gen Petraus just stated that Al Queda was no longer operational in Afghanistan.
Lara stated flatly that that wasn't true.
I'm curious to know who has more accurate info. Sure the military is capable of lying but I'm not sure why Petraus would say Al Queda was there when they are not.
You have a bill due on the 15th, you cut your check or e payment on the 14th with full funds to cover. . yet it arrives a few days late and you get a hefty late fee slapped on you.
So what right does a company have to slap a penalty on you when you technically paid it a day early?
