Naomi Klein: Climate Rage - http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/30...
From outside our borders, the climate crisis doesn't look anything like the meteors or space invaders that Todd Stern imagined hurtling toward Earth. It looks, instead, like a long and silent war waged by the rich against the poor. And for that, regardless of what happens in Copenhagen, the poor will continue to demand their rightful reparations.
"This is about the rich world taking responsibility for the damage done," says Ilana Solomon, policy analyst for ActionAid USA, one of the groups recently converted to the cause. "This money belongs to poor communities affected by climate change. It is their compensation."
Why the Afghan Surge Will Fail - http://www.fpif.org/fpiftxt/6571
"The insurgency does not have the capability to defeat U.S. forces or depose Afghanistan's central government, and…U.S. forces do not the ability to vanquish the insurgency." While the purported goal of the war is denying al-Qaeda a sanctuary, according to U.S. intelligence the organization has fewer than 100 fighters in the country.
And further, the Taliban's leader, Mullah Omar, pledges that his organization will not interfere with Afghanistan's neighbors or the West, which suggests that the insurgents have been learning about diplomacy as well. The Afghanistan War can only be solved by sitting all the parties down and working out a political settlement. Since the Taliban have already made a seven-point peace proposal, that hardly seems an insurmountable task. Anything else is a dangerous illusion.

Chas. Colson says, "Believers who live lives consistent with their faith evidence a transformed will, that is, the ability to do what is right, not just know what is right."
This is true - whether one believes in the Almighty Gawd or not!!! I have 'faith' in myself and in other human beings, and I do what is 'right' just as much (more actually) than most of the religious hypocrites I know.
The gawd(s) gene crap is back, I see. Religion is part of our DNA - our human evolution? Definitely crap. What is present in our DNA that keeps the purveyors of gawd(s) and religion in the money is FEAR. Fear, a basic human trait, a self-preservation necessity. Fear is what creates gawd(s) in the minds of men. Fear of the unknown and unexplainable; fear of the "other"; fear of not being accepted, cared for and loved.

I know, shocking right? I guess his Christian moral compass was broken.
Colson's bad enough, but the PTSD Jesus story is appalling.
Faith is no defense against murder.
