China, India, U.S. commit to seal Copenhagen deal - http://www.grist.org/article/a-global-climate...
With global allies pressing for a commitment to emissions reductions, the White House and Beijing announced critical steps in the last week that may move the world as close to a binding agreement on climate change as possible.

Spin me baby one more time: On “climategate” - http://www.grist.org/article/2009-11-28-on-cl...
The Manufactured Doubt industry has been around for decades, working to thwart regulatory constraints on large corporations that make dangerous products. Not only are all the same techniques being used in the same way on climate change, in many cases they're being used by the same people and institutions that fought against tobacco, CFC, asbestos, and auto safety regulations.
All you have to know about the climate change 'debate'/greed for profit & F everything else for old energy marathon: Their spokespeople: James 'I wish I had a brain' Inhofe (R-Exxon/Oklahoma branch), Chuck 'New World Order/Texas Ranger' Norris, and Glenn 'Happy Feet-University of I don't remember' Beck....enough said????

Corporate Scrooge has change of heart - http://www.sltrib.com/opinion/ci_13879596
Hey, guess what? Activism works. This is a story about 1,200 workers in Honduras who were fired by their American corporate factory owner because they unionized. Then, something remarkable happened. They got their jobs back. The Scrooge in this modern-day "A Christmas Carol" is Russell Athletic, a leading sportswear company, owned by Fruit of the Loom.
The visiting spirits who made Russell change its shriveled corporate heart are college students around the country, members of United Students Against Sweatshops. In January, Russell shuttered one of eight apparel factories it owns in Honduras. It was the only plant with a union. Since then, USAS students have convinced nearly 100 colleges and universities to end or suspend their licensing agreements with Russell.

Chavez threatens to nationalize Venezuelan banks - http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20091129/wl_nm/us_...
"You want me to nationalize the banks?" he said. . ."I have no problem with that because the banks don't want to extend credit to the poor, they don't comply, they don't want to comply with the bank's purpose for existence, and that is the law." Chavez said the purpose of banks was not to enrich a small group of people but "should be to collect funds and savings to help aid the country's development by making loans, extending credits for housing."

Chavez’s historic call for international socialist unity - http://dandelionsalad.wordpress.com/2009/11/2...
The problem for American fascism is that Chavez is no fool. He sees in current events what we do: no Great Powers can be trusted. "Addressing delegates at the International Encounter of Left Parties held in Caracas, November 19-21, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said that with the capitalist crisis and threat of war risking the future of humanity, “the people are clamoring” for greater unity of those willing to fight for socialism. ...
“The time has come for us to organise the Fifth International”, he said. ... Chavez said the discussion “must go out to the people, to the social organisations and other forms of popular power in the country”. ... The first day discussed the new imperialist offensive in the region. This is exemplified by the plan for new US military bases in Latin America and the military coup against the left-leaning Honduran government...
The election of US President Barack Obama created hope and expectations across the world that new relations with the US based on dialogue would be possible. But he said this illusion was quickly shattered by the actions of the new administration. ...Nidia Diaz, a veteran leader of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN) of El Salvador, said it was possible right-wing forces could win coming elections in Chile and Brazil.
But, she said, “if we only think about electoral victories and not in the accumulation of social forces for change, it is easy to paint a negative picture”. "

Headline that caught my eye this morning on Google News.

"The key Tiger question: Do you believe him?" (I won't tempt you with a link)

This is from Fox. Oh the irony.

)O(

Funny how they did ask chainey about his shooting accident

Or was it an accident?

archy: Everything that is wrong in journalism

Then there were these three:

Moyers, Greenwald, Rosen, and it has never been said more succinctly, here

BILL MOYERS: I think you wrote that "The media stars in Washington almost never understand that there's anything wrong with the establishment of which they're a part."

GLENN GREENWALD: That's right. I mean, if you were to say to normal Americans, and it's the reason why these issues resonated, and why Barack Obama made them a centerpiece of his campaign, that members of Congress leave office and make millions of dollars doing nothing other than essentially peddling influence to wealthy individuals who can have their way with Congress.

Most people consider that to be corruption. That's what Barack Obama called it when he ran. Yet, to members of the media, who have spent their lives in Washington, who are friends and colleagues of the people who are engorging themselves on this corrupt system that is just the way of life. It's like breathing air or drinking water. It's not anything that's noteworthy, let alone controversial.

Cheney in 2012! RUN DICK RUN!!

Oh...to watch that miserable, unindicted crook go down in FLAMES would be more fun than I can imagine.

Thanks for the link! Fine company. That Meacham column dissected by archy is appalling.
