TGIF!

Now I'm packed and off to follow the links in the roundup. Hopefully I won't run into Tiger Woods on those links.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

I got the whole story in 1:42 watching Taiwanese animation. That was enough for me. :/

Alice X - Chomsky Nader's picture

It will take some work to sort out the points made at the links from Calculated Risk, Digby and the link to Ryan Grim at Huffpo there-at.

They are not exactly consistent.

What is consistent is the determination of the Plutocrats to the ending of all social programs.

Social Security and Medicare are pay through programs that are funded as we go. The taxes are flat and thus regressive. With a cap.

Normally Plutocrats, if they will suffer any tax, will suffer a flat tax. They still want to do away with the programs. Better yet is to plunder the tax.

They are rich but that is not enough. They want yours and mine too.

Something Ed Schultz said yesterday caused me to find this, and I'm not seeing it anywhere.

Michelle Bachmann’s District Leads Minnesota In Foreclosures

Seems Ed is being criticized for the data used in the reporting.
Schultz Uses Questionable Foreclosure Data to Blast Bachmann Voting Record

I see nothing wrong with the methodology used by Mr. Birkey, while the source cited by Jeff Poor of the Business and Media Institute leaves me with questions. He cites a study done by Hotpads.com in October 2008 to refute data from third quarter 2009.

unhappy with the way things are without all the hero worship bullshit that seems prevalent on left leaning blogs. don't get me wrong, I like Obama, and i like this site, I just don't like some of the things he's doing and/or not doing.

an unvarnished middle ground with teabaggers is inevitable anyway.

embrace it.

The organization is called the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC), apparently named after the UN coalition International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). An investigation into the group reveals its numerous links to Exxon-Mobil, a vehement opponent of climate legislation and notorious among scientists for funding global warming skeptics.
"Exxon-Mobil essentially funds people to lie," Joseph Romm, lauded climate expert and author of the blog Climate Progress, told Raw Story. "It's important for people to understand that they pay off the overwhelming majority of groups in the area of junk science."

'Titans' of Economic treason: Wal-Mart will pay $40m to workers - The Boston Globe - http://www.boston.com/business/articles/2009/...
Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world’s largest retailer, has agreed to pay $40 million to as many as 87,500 current and former employees in Massachusetts, the largest wage-and-hour class-action settlement in the state’s history. The class-action lawsuit, filed in 2001, accused the retailer of denying workers rest and meal breaks, refusing to pay overtime, and manipulating time cards to lower employees’ pay. Under terms of the agreement, which was filed in Middlesex Superior Court yesterday by the employees’ attorneys, any person who worked for Wal-Mart between August 1995 and the settlement date will receive a payment of between $400 and $2,500, depending on the number of years worked, with the average worker receiving a check for $734.

Bhopal Disaster's 25th Anniversary: Another Act of Corporate Terrorism That Time Forgot - http://blog.buzzflash.com/analysis/950
Dow released a statement coinciding with the 25-year anniversary of Bhopal insisting that the 1989 settlement releases them of all responsibility. Dow may not have committed the atrocities in Bhopal, but they are harboring a fugitive of justice on American soil, according to the Indian government. Cases holding Dow responsible are also pending in the U.S. Furthermore, "polluter pays" laws in both the U.S. and India mandate that Dow is responsible for the disaster and continuing pollution.

A shameless and horrible system of 'healthcare': Drug-Makers Paying Off Competitors To Keep Cheap Generics Off Market - http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/200...
Republicans and their allies in the business community talk a good game about the virtues of free-market competition. But, as we've seen in the debate over the public option, that stance often goes out the window when corporate profits are at stake. And now we've got another example -- one of the sleaziest and most blatantly self-serving yet.

Report Examines Civil Rights During Bush Years - http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/03/us/politics...
"When the Bush administration ran the Civil Rights Division at the Justice Department, career lawyers wanted to look into accusations that officials in one state had illegally intimidated blacks during a voter-fraud investigation. But division supervisors refused to “approve further contact with state authorities on this matter,” according to a new report by the Government Accountability Office auditing the activities of the division from 2001 to 2007.
Congress is set to release that report, which did not identify the state in question, on Thursday as the House of Representatives takes up its first oversight hearing of the Civil Rights Division under the Obama administration. The 180-page report, obtained by The New York Times, is densely packed with statistics about civil rights enforcement by the division’s sections.
The accountability office also examined a sampling of matters that were closed without further action, finding several cases — including the curtailed voter intimidation inquiry — in which supervisors rejected the recommendations of career lawyers to go forward."

This was a good read. As I'm overseas, and not linked to the machine nearly as much (but still linked), I don't know who most of these people are. I see them all over the internet, but just keep scrolling.

I doubt you'll be seeing much of LGF here. Johnson has been edging away from Teh Crazy for a few months. Then, a few days ago he had a post explaining why he could no longer be part of the rightie blogistan circle jerk. I checked him out yesterday and was amazed to read his Palin smackdown. He doesn't deserve a medal, I simply find it fascinating that some people are able, for years, to believe and propagate an ideology, and then - apparently - come to, and reject it all!

Bernake should have been reminded after his threat that the Fed can make social Security and Medicare go away that Congress, in its turn, can make the Fed go away. I think they should...the Fed serves no one but itself and the banksters who all but control the government.

Kudos to Bernie Sanders for putting a hold on this douchebag's re-nomination.
