Republicans are avoiding Obama's inauguration. Oh, boo hoo. Don't let the door hit your fat ass on the way out.

)O(

With a name like Charles Spies he should watch his back around booshco.

Shows how indeed people have been intentionally brainwashed. All the proof that is needed is to witness an election. Voters go into an election knowing full well that politicians are there for corporations, and will say or do anything to get elected. Doesn't matter what supposed party or ideology they pretend to support. Listen to the responses. It's incredible.
"I voted for _____ cuz he's a Christian"
"I voted for _____ cuz he's going to change things"
"I voted for ______ cuz he said he's going to end the war and bring troops home"
"I voted for _____ cuz the liberals will destroy everything with their socialism"

Everyone has that same idea, that ya we know politicians are corrupt, fraudulent, lying SOBs, but THIS one will be different. Or I vote conservative cuz my daddy voted conservative and my granddaddy voted conservative, etc, etc, etc,...just trying to have conversations with some people that are allowed to vote, is truly awe inspiring.

The

school that teaches a state curriculum ranks near the top as one of the worst toxins.

By this.

the contrast?

Griffin has been a champion of climate change denial. A typical BushCo corporate stooge.

T'other guy might have been guilty of doing his job by warning of the seriousness of the climate change menace.

The same thing will happen to War Criminal Bush as happened to War Criminal Reagan.

They'll name an airport for the snot-nosed little murderer.

'Financial 9/11' struck over $6.9 trillion from US economy during 2008
Stephen C. Webster

Increasingly, in 2008 the US is being said to have suffered a "financial 9/11."

Many blame the Republican party, namely the Bush administration, for letting it go this far.

I blame Ronald Reagan for everything he did, but most of all for appointing Greenspan.

Then I blame the Republicans and the Democrats.

To sum it up:

1 - Greenspan

2 - Republicans

3 - Democrats

The order doesn't matter so much.

to blame voters. Without them, 1,2 & 3 could never do what they do.

...gives the voters two choices every 4 years...

...and voters always pick one mainstream media candidate every time!!!

I say you forgot to blame media!

...article detailing how innocent people have been tortured under orders of Rumsfled, Cheney and Bush et al, I think the very best way to punish these monsters is to follow the Golden Rule: do unto Them what they've done unto Others.

Gather them up, indict, prosecute, and when guilt has been determined beyond a shadow of a doubt, remand them to Gitmo for a little R&R:
chain their naked, corpulent bodies to the cold concrete floor in stress positions, in either overwhelming bright light or complete darkness, with the worst rock music blaring at high decibels. After a few months of that, maybe a little waterboarding would be in order. And, I'm not even a violent, vengeful person, just think this would be the perfect karmic experience for all of them.

And here's why Amitola...
save the taxpayers a few coin.
After they've been on trial and found guilty, their assets should be seized (and auctioned off and the proceeds either doled out to the citizenry, or put into the govt. coffers to use for education or infrastructure or something) then, they should be hanged, or shot, on live teevee.
Show the world, and other, would be fascist fucks what happens when you do horrible, evil things.

I know just what you mean. I have terrible fantasies about what I'd do to those torturers and murderers if I could get them alone. I also mix some of the FoxNews jackasses into the population in this fantasy.

While it certainly helps work off some of the angry energy that gets triggered, I think I'd FAR rather see them publicly prosecuted before the entire world and sentenced to a life of hard labor in prison, living on bread and water.

After a fair and speedy trial...off with their damn heads I say!

....Gitmo is already there and ready to go. As I said, I'm generally not in favor of revenge and violence, but in the case of these folks, I make an exception. As I don't think there's an actual Hell, I believe these guys and many of their friends should experience just a taste of it here on Planet Earth - after their public trial and humiliation.

... used for Sadam Hussein should be used on Bush, Cheney, Alberto Gonzales, and John Yoo. That's my own dark little fantasy. The poetic justice seems so fitting ...

Jesus said to turn the other cheek,

He didn't say which set.

more reports on the torture of children that was authorized by GW Bush and the beasts in his administration. It must never be forgotten and I shall never rest until they are prosecuted for war-crimes -- this is a PROMISE I make to the world, if anybody cares.

What's utterly despicable is that the ONLY ones in government who had the power to make a difference and stop it were the Democratic leaders, who knew about the children, too. They heard the tapes of the boys screaming as they were being sodomized, they saw the pictures of innocent dead and tortured Iraqis. They did nothing. They truly belong in the same hell as the torture-originating authorities.

While Haas's point is that the rightwing is blase about the torture and murder of innocent adults, he doesn't think they'd be as comfortable if we kept the tortured innocent children in front of their faces. But I'm not sure he's right. The children blown to smithereens by US bombs haven't moved them to insist that only military targets be attacked.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH CONGRESS?

It is the best Congress that War Profiteers' money can buy!

And Wall Street Fat Cat Crooks' money can…!

And Big Oil money can…!

And Criminal Telecoms' money can…!

Oh, and Big Pharmaceutical can…&…&…&

and so on and so forth!

We don't have a country so much as a cesspool of slush funds.

)O(

Are slush funds when kids pool their money to go to 7-11 and buy Slushees?

Good stuff today, but I have to say this line from Wolcott might be my favorite:

But upon leaving the service of President Bush in 2007 (rat, ship, flee), Rove was divested of his wizard mystique, deprived of his base; he hopped on the merry-go-round of Beltway punditry, quickly establishing himself as the thinking man’s Dick Morris, which is something of a comedown after being Satan.

Just looked through Crooks and Liars mainline blogs for the past week (since Monday) Unless I missed it there is only one main blog by the hitters here at Crooks and Liars about the attacks on Gaza by Israel.

What's up? Is this critical issue off limits to Crooks and Liars as a headline?

The Huffington Post: Israeli-Occupied Territory
Why is the Huffington Post carrying water for the IDF? Follow the money …
by Justin Raimondo

Pat Buchanan was widely vilified by the neocons and the politically correct left when he famously described the Congress of the United States as "Israeli-occupied territory." Oh, what a conniption the liberals and the Commentary crowd had! That was during the countdown to the first Gulf War, when almost no one rose to object – and those who did, like Pat, were smeared for their trouble. Today, such an observation is hardly considered controversial: it is simply a known fact.

There is more discussion in the Knesset over the pros and cons of US intervention in the Middle East on Israel's behalf than there is in on Capitol Hill. There's a sense in which this sort of uniformity must be a little embarrassing for the Lobby, in that it underscores their fear that a real debate will suddenly break out. The regularity with which the American Congress endorses every fresh Israeli atrocity has a certain deadening metronomic quality about it – and, while we're on the subject of monotony, the American media, too, plays an identical role as advocate and staunch defender of the Israeli case, as a matter of course. The "mainstream" televised and dead-tree-media has historically been a reliable "reporter" of the merits of the Israeli case. Now, the wannabe "alternative" online media is following suit, with an alacrity that is none too surprising.

Where the hell are the blogs about what is taking place in the Gaza. Is Crooks and Liars Israeli occupied Territory? What's up?

There are Israelis who condemn and criticize their own government, the World condemns and criticizes the Israeli government, but the US does not. The US is a vassal state.

It is a brutal occupation, it has been a brutal occupation.

Israel must withdraw to the pre 1967 borders.

Israel has blood on its hands.

The US has blood on its hands.

So much guilt to atone for.

Some sites focused on the disproportionate response of Israel in the Gaza
http://www.cnifoundation.org/

Why is it that we keep hearing about why Israel is allegedly responding to the rockets lofted by Hamas. Israel wants this to stop. Yet we do not hear any reports about why Hamas has been shooting rockets. Hamas wants Israel to abide by the findings of the UN and the International World Court (that our media has basically ignored) The settlements are illegal, the Wall is illegal, the occupation of Palestinian lands Illegal.
