Whoever knew Rush Limbaugh could be such a good thing for Democrats? Obama allies are using Rush's own words against him, airing radio spots in crucial states hoping to put pressure on some moderate GOP Senators.

I had ignored Rush for many of the years he's been around. I have friends who listen to him and when they brought him up in the past, I didn't say much. No more. When his name comes up, they get a piece of my mind now. This SOB has had a major influence on getting this country on the wrong track. It is payback time. I'm thrilled to see the Dems and the media beginnning to show Limbaugh for the greedy manipulator/traitor that he is. And those congressional Repugs who are beholden to him need to (and will) pay, as well. If he makes a few more dollars before being tarred and feathered; fine. Maybe instead of feathers, we'll use some of those dollar bills to attach to the tar.
from what I here that 4 million jobs number came out of a repug and he said they could do it with less money. this is the guy who gave wallstreet billions for boners and told the Union auto makers to F off.
I'm pretty sure Boner and Canter said they would create SIX million jobs and do it cheaper than President Obama. My question then as it is now, is why the hell didn't they create the jobs when they were in power and keep them? YOu have to start someplace. Next will be giving more money to the lenders/banks and force them to lend it. Once people start buying these very cheap homes with the money we are going to give to the lenders the deal will snowball (I seem to like that word today). You see, homes are very cheap now and it is just around the corner where people will not be able to help themselves. They will be buying. And the more people buy the more people will qualify.
I'll tell you what. If a credit card company raised my interest rate to 30% I would max out the card on whatever I wanted and then never make another payment.

Good luck with buying a house. I mean that! You are lucky, in a way, that you will be buying at this time. You will be getting great value. Until you can buy be sure to save every penny and never use a credit card for anything except an emergency!! NEVER!!
I think these mortgages will go to the right people. The right people are people who will buy houses to live in and not as speculation. That is part of what got us into his mess in the first place. People buying houses to use as a bank account once people start buying houses for the sole purpose to live in them we will be on the road to recovery.

And if the home is underwater, need to get out, default .. and buy again starting over, but now with a much bigger interest rate due to bad credit. Lets call this person "poor slob".

Assuming "Poor slob" still has a job: a new loan just means you have harnessed "poor slob" person to work for the bank again. Since many will have "bad credit" now, banks will still get a bit of interest.
Banks will benefit quickly.
Economy (if based as before on consumer spending) will only benefit, once enough "Poor Slobs" with jobs have enough equity built up, to cash it in again and spend. Maybe for more loans for cars, college, etc. So this is why the economic "recovery" will take a couple of years minimum.
This will enable more "poor slobs" to get jobs again. These "poor slobs" will now be able to take on debt again. So, after a few years we have all the "poor slobs" back working for the banks.
"Poor Slobs" will never have full equity in their homes, never not have a car loan, and their kids will start life with a huge commitment to working for the banks their early productive years due to student debt.
Consumer prices will go back up, as buyers are using play miney payable later to buy them. I assure you that when you have to pay cash and can't fiddle with loan terms vs. down payment that the absolute ceiling price you can pay for a home or a car is less.
This leaves "poor slobs" and their kids where?
Strong middle class my ass. Maybe in the third generation if our kids somehow manage to pay back their own personal college debt starts, debt from us, debt the government is leaving to them now, all without getting any more new debt?
Bur, the government will see banks, solvent again, lending back up, employment back up, no deflation, and pat themselves on the back, all withing a few years or so. Whew crisis over. Not? Well over if you are a banker.

Rush has had more national face time this week than he's had in the past 8 years. I'll stand by my original thought on this...it was a HUGE mistake for Obama to elevate Limbaugh the way he did, to make him some sort of relevant, national player, worthy of engaging in a debate with the POTUS.
If it was so important for Obama to make this point, then I thought he should've staffed it out. But now I think that may have been a mistake as well. The best approach would be to ignore him, and debate people who are relevant.
Obama will never win over the hearts and minds of the Republican base. He won with the middle, and Rush doesn't have such a hold on the middle as most think, as proven by the results of the last two elections.

Its not about damaging Rush, its about damaging repubs who stand by him. When Rush made his 'I hope he fails' comment, he put a lot of pressure on his supporters to either denounce or defend him and neither answer looks good to a large % of the electorate.
I hope you're right but it doesn't usually work that way. Ask Bill Clinton what happened during his eight years of fighting Rush as the chief cheerleader for the opposition...from Whitewater to Lewinski to Filegate to Chinagate to allegations of murdering Vince Foster.

Any jobs bill that consists of handing money over to big business in the HOPE that they will use it to create new jobs and raise the standard of living for the working class is NOT a jobs bill.

VegasRage , the smart way is to use deficit spending to prod a stalled economy but restrict that spending when the economy is doing well.
But during good times the GOP spent us into a mess while tearing down the economy and starting a war at the same time. Things wouldn't have been as bad if they also hadn't been on a Wall Street deregulation binge. And now, when pretty much all non-partisan economists say cutting government spending would lead to a full scale depression, the GOP wants to do exactly that. It would be the epitome of idiocy if they really believed this would help the economy but that isn't what they're thinking at all. They're thinking that if Obama and the Democrats are successful in fixing the mess that the GOP created(with the help of the most conservative Democrats), then the GOP will never regain power. And they would, in near unanimity, perfer that the people of the USA experience misery.
Then they'll blame Obama and the Democrats and if they regain power will go right back to screwing things up again.
Let me sum this up for the idiots: a national economy and a person's individual finances are not the same thing. Almost ALL non-partisan economists say that we MUST have major deficit spending now to head off a depression. Most of us are not willing to see the country go down the tubes for the benefit of GOP future electoral prospects.

Just saying it's the smart way doesn't make it the smart way. Indeed it is not smart and there are detailed explanations detailing why. Deficit spending got us into this mess, it's debt, foreign debt that is the problem.
