Obama continues to shun FOX News

No-Fox_4c998.jpg Today Barack Obama held his fifth news conference since winning the presidency, and for the fifth time, he refused to call on a reporter from FOX. Fishbowl DC has been keeping track.

As we've been documenting, Fox News hasn't gotten a question in during President-elect Barack Obama's five press conferences since the election.

Today was another. Questions instead went to such outlets as ABC, New York Times, CBS, Reuters and the Associated Press.

Despite his one appearance on The Factor, Barack Obama has made clear his disdain for everything FOX News. It's pretty refreshing to see a Democrat realize that he doesn't need to grovel to FOX, no?

In any ranking of worldwide news services, Faux comes in dead last.

Freddy Knuckles's picture

I was gonna title my post "Bwahahahahaha!!" but you beat me to it. Eventually, only the most ignorant, hardcore Cons will watch Faux Noise.

crabby's picture

like we should do with the terrorist from other countries.

Don't forget the Bush administration who ran the show, literally! Fox viewers are angry white, male 70-somethings and don't run the government. Recall how W's press secretary called on a fake, porno model to bail them out! Joe the "reporter", I guess. And they held phony press conferences and distributed propagada as news stories. They leaked CIA agent-outing to Novak and pardoned the leaker. Let's keep things in perspective.

Margeaggedon's picture

If only faux noise would shrivel up and blow away from the lack of attention LOL! But it is nice that they are now marginalized and irrelevant. As they should be.

Lefty's picture

Just wish the rest of the Democrats as well as all the so-called "Democratic strategists" would do the same. Now that would be a nice strategy.

Raymond T. Anderson's picture

Why should he? FOX isn't a real news network. Too bad backbones are in short supply among Dems.

In my eyes this would redeem him :)

Hey, Fox News: Talk to the hand, bitch!

"It's pretty refreshing to see a Democrat realize that he doesn't need to grovel to FOX, no?"

No.I mean yes.

"To me, truth is not some vague, foggy notion. Truth is real. And,
at the same time, unreal. Fiction and fact and everything in between,
plus some things I can't remember, all rolled into one big "thing."
This is truth, to me. "

It makes sense Fox News wouldn't get invited to a news conference since a news conference implies a function of news organizations.

Timroid's picture

I'd like to see him take a question from Mad magazine... just to rub it in.

Fox news has had eight years with the keys to the back door of the white house and now President Obama is about to change the lock. Good move!

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

The old geezer has gone as far as stating publicly he despises O'Really.

Robert Murdock is some kid of super weasel, the likes of which natura has yet to see.

On the other hand, FOX et al now have carte blanche to do what they do best: bitch and moan.

miss_kitty's picture

Murdoch only ever backs the winner. Hillary must've been such a disappointment to the Dirty Digger.

BaScOmBe's picture

he likes his product when he decides the political agenda. murdicKKK just hates that his propaganda don't work.

"The old geezer has gone as far as stating publicly he despises O'Really."

Sounded like manufactured controversy the moment I heard this.

miss_kitty's picture

this bit of news would be an outrage. Like when The fucking chimpanzee's chimp iced Helen Thomas for years.

However, since there ARE NO journalists at Fox, it's only fair. And balanced. And just deserts.

Sungrey's picture

I hope Obama continues to snub Faux Noise, since it's not a real news organization but a right-wing propoganda and smear machine.

Milquetoast's picture

Fox news is to Barak Obama as...

Helen Thomas is to George Bush!

Iguess this is Baraks payback for fox news trying to steal Helen Thomas' front row chair at the white house press room.

paybacks are a bitch huh fox? ...looks like there is a new decider in town huh?

FOX news is not in the same league as Helen Thomas, heck they are not even the same sport.

Margeaggedon's picture

Agreed. Faux noise is to Helen Thomas what Kenny G is to John Coltrane. No comparison.

Faux is merely reaping the rewards for their years of spewing crap non-stop and proving again and again what a worthless, untrustworthy gaggle of idiots they are.

Trittydi's picture

I doubt if Obama has Helen Thomas in mind. Maybe he does - but thanks for this reminder. I was intensely offended by the White House's treatment of Ms. Thomas, and with that in mind - I am especially grateful for Obama's strong stand against catering to the "gotcha" journalistic crap that typifies any exchange with Faux News.

He simply DOES NOT have the time to play their petty little games. And we all know that is exactly what they have in mind.

Faux News does neither news nor journalism.

Obama will be the primary guest Sunday on Meet the Press. Doubt he'll also be doing the Fox Sunday show.

Fox

I would say they have said enough after all they have had the last 8 years to spread their lies and UnAmerican Politics. F*%#$ You Rupert Merdoc and the rest of your band of treasonous diarrhea.

bobsf's picture

How will they ever find out whether Obama's hand gesture is a 'terrorist fist jab' unless they have a chance to ask him?

woodytus's picture

President Obama needs to call on Fox soon like at the next press conference. It would carry Obama's anytime anywhere debate style into his presidency. They're harmless. Don't treat them any other way or a self-fulfilling prophecy could ensue.
It's one thing to cite bias in the news but to perpetuate it in this manner only makes Obama look vulnerable which he isn't.

Continuing not to call on Fox could also generate perceived sleights against certain kinds of media content. When the Fox's and others can't access the current President then there's only retaliatory gaps between administrations that detract from big picture issues.
Plus, it's one thing having watched Obama say that there shouldn't be blue states or red states and other devisive portrayals but quite another to watch him not notice that he's following that lead instead of leading the followers.

Milquetoast's picture

Fox news will use this to "martyr" themselves to their own audience!

We would call it Sewercide.

Trittydi's picture

I really don't give a GD. However - I agree that it's not in Obama's best interest to ignore Faux forever - UNLESS - they pursue an agenda of "gotcha" type questions and try to corner/embarrass him by asking stupid and misleading questions.

In that case - they can sit there and rot forever for all I care. It's not that Obama can't take these jokers on - we all know that he can. HOWEVER - playing "gotcha" with Faux News is NOT how I want my president spending is precious time.

And he clearly has no intention of doing that either.

xoites defends Constitution's picture

It would not only be in Obama's best interest, but the Nation's best interest.

jesster's picture

Just ask Kerry or Dean or any other democrat and they will tell you the same.
And I really think he should ignore them. Or at least ignore them just enough to give them absolutely no play at all- like, call on them when he has an Easter Egg hunt, or when he pardons a Turkey. But when he has a serious press conference - give them NOTHING.

And NEVER EVER appear on Fox news again. For ANY REASON. FUCK FOX

Blue Lensman's picture

He hasn't taken office yet! How can we really know who he'll call on once he's in the WH?!?

...let’s not be so quick to say of Obama’s coalescing Cabinet, ”It’s Full of Stars!” Let’s also be especially circumspect of his nominating Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State.

I expect Fox's bobbleheads to make hay out of Hillary's nomination but I doubt their reservations will in any way coincide with mine.

I worked in the Pentagon and in the lunch rooms they have Fox News on the tv monitors . . . I hope this will change January 20.

Bigmama's picture

In going to some medical appointments in different offices, I noticed that the TV in the waiting room was always turned to Fox. Last time it happened, I finally got the courage to ask the office staff to switch it to another station. They switched it to ABC but it was better than fox.

CALL ON FUX NEWS after he gets through the list of REAL STATIONS, then the BLOGSPOTS, then the BUMFUCK ALASKA PENNYSAVER REPORTER...

--->---> DO NOT WORRY... all is as it should be

Rico's picture

FoxNews is on the margin, right where it belongs. What little credibility it has remaining as a news source will slowly evaporate. I always believed that the "fair and balanced" moniker could be ripe pickings for an aggressive lawyer interested in challenging the network based on truth in advertising statutes.

Pericles's picture

Somebody alread tried to sue FAUX for the use of the "fair and balanced" slogan. Didn't work. Also, according to Al Franken, he thought about lending the Air America lawyers to Jeremy Glick after O'Reilly ambushed him, and then lied about Glick's position the following day by saying Glick had said the CIA was behind the 9-11 attacks. The suit would be based on slander, with O'Reilly's misrepresentation of Glick's position constituting slander. The lawyer said that it wouldn't fly, because O'Reilly has no established credibility for telling the TRUTH.

In other words, if you are generally respectful, and try to tell the truth, you can be sued for slander when you don't. But if you are CONSTANTLY spewing an endless deluge of bullsh-t, you CAN'T be sued for slandering somebody.

If Obama doesn't ever let them ask a question he should be expecting a visit from Bill O'rally's producer/intern/doanythingtogetonteevee in the future. That'll show him.

...Fox trumpeted the harrowing things that Bush and company did to our nation for the past 8 years. Fox helped to celebrate the 8-year destruction of our nation.

I sure hope that Obama does everything he can to undo the Telecommunications Act that Clinton signed into law. It destroyed our free press.

liberalbiasboy's picture

The Obama administration won't be needing an organization whose chief function is to "catapult the propaganda."

Reality has a liberal bias

FoxNews is the only republican success story in the last eight years. Spread the party line real thick. Neoconseratives have their own version of the Soviet Union's Pravda.

SassySandy's picture

Then maybe they would get treated like one. FOX has been on a 24/7 Obama bashing crusade for the past two years. They even took Hillary's side in the primaries, and they can't stand Hillary. They put it all on the line and tried their best to beat him. They lost. Now it is time to pay the price. They deserve what they get.

FOX, and the rest of the GOP, desperately wanted to run against Hillary.
Pity, unrequited love.

I never watch anything on the FOX network. Never, ever, nor will I ever. They do not report the news-they report GOP dogma. I'd rather watch paint dry than watch FOX. I have boycotted them for so long I cannot remember when it started. I will leave the room, whatever to avoid those idiots.

It would be a real kicker if Obama made Helen Thomas the next White House Press Secretary.

Eat that Fox News!

bhavikd7's picture

Obama has everyright right to ignore fox news and inparticular Bill O'Reially, who is the most baised, most ignorant man on TV and him to have is own show is just ridiuculus, i am assuming nobody watches that rubbish he spouts from his mouth or naything on FOX in general. If he told me the grass was green outside i would have go and check it out for myself before accpeting that. They bashed Obama during the primaries and also before that, they failed there, they tried de-rail in his election campaign against McCain, they failed there. THEY ARE A FAILURE...Revenge is a dish best served cold!!
