Obama in Primetime: American Stories, American Solutions
By SilentPatriot Wednesday Oct 29, 2008 6:15pmHere is the full video of Obama's prime time nationwide address.
In one week, we can choose an economy that rewards work and creates new jobs and fuels prosperity from the bottom-up.
In one week, we can choose to invest in health care for our families, and education for our kids, and renewable energy for our future.
In one week, we can choose hope over fear, unity over division, the promise of change over the power of the status quo.
In one week, we can come together as one nation, and one people, and once more choose our better history.
That’s what’s at stake. That’s what we’re fighting for. And if in this last week, you will knock on some doors for me, and make some calls for me, and talk to your neighbors, and convince your friends; if you will stand with me, and fight with me, and give me your vote, then I promise you this – we will not just win Florida, we will not just win this election, but together, we will change this country and we will change the world.

I am 57 years old and for the first time in my life I feel like if Barack gets elected I could be proud of my governments leader.
Think about it with people like the bush's what could you have to be proud of?
Lying, ignorance, greed, ruthlessness. The past eight have been one long nightmare, and if it has been a nightmare here, what must it have been for all the people in Iraq?
God forgive these ignorant republican morons that think that bombing innocent men women and children makes America a great country! How could they be so wrong about so much and act like they have done something great?
I am so ashamed of the last eight years it brings me to tears when I think of it and all the death, destruction. The wasted lives and money for the greed of a few!
God please forgive our country for letting the bush/chenny cabal loose on the world.
thank you!
Pass this on!:

An Infomercial is all this was, 3 million dollars, really?
I watched Bill O anyway.
Senator McCain,
I would tell you to "go fuck yourself," but, with the selection of Diva 2012 Palin, you've apparently already done so.
when you talk dirty!
We can't keep meeting like this.
Sheesh! ;o)
Not my fault, mon! :-D
Hmm... true true. BobbyG? Anything to add here?
cute.
I'm at that age where "if you experience an erection lasting more than four seconds, call your doctor."
:)
THAT is funny! (Whoops...I shouldn't laugh at that, eh? My bad. :D )
LOL!
An erection that lasts more than 4 hours , a physician is the last individual I'm calling.......
I'd get in contact with as many hookers as possible ; that type of "emergency" requires true professionals to handle it ...........
That's funny!!
LOL
You started it!!
I loved it. Got a bit teary there for a while. I'm a Hillary fan. I'm still upset that she didn't make it to the big game. I wasn't going to vote. I started seeing more and more slime from the right and took a good hard look at Obama. I'm quite happy to cast my vote on Tuesday for Obama.
Cheryl and I caucused for Hillary here in Nevada. We all gotta keep our eyes on the prize.
As an Air Force wife, we understand keeping our eye on the prize. We are stationed in Florida and are outnumbered 100-1. LOL.
I will cast my vote with pride. My husband cast his by absentee for California a few weeks ago, with pride. Our nation deserves better, we aim to see that happens. We have four children with bright dreams we wish to fulfill. All of our kids will be standing with me on Election day in that booth. This is a turning point in our nation. Our 16 yr old daughter wishes she could vote. Our baby (he's 7) says he would vote for Obama because he wants to take care of people.
This is for your son. Talk about tearing up.
This is what hope looks like. http://tpzoo.wordpress.com/2008/10/28/this-is...
I cannot WAIT to see this happen. Thanks for the link. My older two children (16, and 14) will watch this now.
I am pretty down about my government, which has done nothing but risen over the last eight years. I truly gave Bush a chance, being a bipartisan person and he WAS elected as MY president, it was my duty as an American to support (and continue to question) him.
He fucked that up big time.
So now, I finally see hope.
And that hope is often in our children (well, your children...my child pants and licks my feet [but she is a great dog!!]).
my dogs think I am.
I should be what Roma thinks I am, too.
That said, I treat her like the queen she thinks she is. :)
My dogs are [1] mentally ill (Lucie), [2] cognitively challenged (Jaco), and [3] my 15 yr old cat Max is now seriously diabetic ( I shoot him with insulin twice a day).
All three of them are adorable!!
I'm a stray magnet, LOL!
We also have a mentally challenged dog with serious abandonment issues(thank goodness he doesn't seem to have passed them on to his daughter), three cats; one sweet, one crazy, and one asshole,a ferret, a house bunny, and a flock of porch chickens (which literally had the Fed Ex man doubled over in laughter) ;P
All our critters unfortunately think I'm their Mama....even the chickens.
for keeping your eye on the bigger picture. Thank you.
It's gotten so bad that I'm actually thinking about giving up my life (or finding it!) to try to get a paying job to work for President Obama! (Of course on day one I'd probably get fired for saying, "All the "for profit" insurance companies have to be deep-sixed post haste!!!"
Say it again, with heart..."President Obama!".
"President Obama!"....
Has kind of a ring to it, doesn't it?!
As I was watching this thing tonight, I found myself wishing that I was about 10" taller...for I would volunteer to be one of his secret service people. I would take a bullet for him if it meant he could continue to do what he is doing.
America needs this man.
this guy's got chops!
It was very well produced. Clear and concise. Did not come off as cheesy and didn't seem like a DNC tribute. I liked it.
I think America has forgotten what's it like for their president to talk with them and address the public. People have sadly gotten used to W's walls and lack of addresses unless it's a matter of dire straits or pure partisan hackery. Obama's address actually addressed America and not a partitioned segment.
I broke down a couple of times during Obama's little primetime piece, and thought of Nicole Belle when he was talking about his mother (after our sorta discussion the other night). At that point, I completely lost it. Healthcare should be a right, not an option.
My eyes now look like giant gumballs...they are completely swollen.
I was deeply moved by this thing.
I am such a sap, sometimes.
I lost my mom to cancer. Unlike Obama, it was four long, long, long years.
My grandmother passed away in July from cancer. Seeing cancer work on someone you love is a tragedy. Thankfully, she went quickly. She died three weeks after diagnosis. She didn't want to linger and made sure she passed one hour after my Dad got to her bedside.
I spent many long years after my mom died, with the guilt of the world on my shoulders, for praying (for more than two years) that god to take my mother.
That was the last time that god was a part of my life.
that you've forgiven yourself. You have my deepest sympathies. I've never been through that with a parent, but an aunt who I loved dearly had a long slow passing. At first you pray that they'll recover, but then when you see them suffering and slipping away, you pray for them to have peace. There's nothing to feel guilty about. But I understand the agony which makes you angry at god.
I came to realize that Dr. Kevorkian was an angel. I would not have the will or the desire to live as my mother did for the last two years of her life.
It look three years from start to finish.
And now it's been a decade.
RIP, Mom.
Love and peace and aloha to all ...
regarding losing his Mom to cancer. I lost my first born child ten years ago to cancer after 2+ years of hell. Still seems like last week.
I am so very, very sorry. My heart goes out to you and your family. My heart bleeds for you for your loss.
It's OK. Tragedy is everywhere in this world. At least I had her for 30 years.
If so, then count me in too.
It was funny, though. I got two consecutive calls on the house phone from a Texas Repub Congressman looking for my vote. First time I ignored it, second time I told them to quit calling me and that I was going to vote for the other guy anyway.
I got a bit teary too. I also got teary at that Generation WE vid. This is why I hate it when people slam young people. I'm 31, so I will benefit from these kids' hardwork.
I notice I have been crying a lot in the past few weeks. There is a focus on American election stories on Channel 4's More4 news. Yesterday, there was a 95 year old African-American San Franciscan man talking about the Civil Rights movement and speaking a little bit about the man he wanted to vote for. At the end of the piece, he says "I'm voting for Barack Obama, who else can I vote for?" Then the chyron comes up with the man's name and that he was a retired Civil Rights Lawyer. I was bawling like a child. I had to leave the room. I apologised to my husband who told me to stop being silly for apologising as he knows how much this election means to me. I can't imagine anyone in Britain crying about an election, and he probably can't either.
Here's the Obama Infomercial We'd Really Like to See
http://satiricalpolitical.com/?p=4415
...I can see the attacks now. Arrogance. And it might turn some people off. But, if that's what people want to think, then you have two choices. A man that is sure of himself(some would call it arrogant) or the other side screaming socialist, terrorist, communist, marxist etc... At least they know what Obama wants to do. McCain wants to get in a spitting contest.
They'll never learn, it's not working. The newest attack is his "close association" with Khalidi Gambit. Why not, the Ayers thing worked so well for them. My guess is the people running McCains campaign will never run another one. They're complete morons.
Barack is a very good man, but his message and his proposed policies are even better.
Now that the whole of the r party (lower case intended) is in defensive mode they will bring out every dirty sleazy thing they can, they will throw it all and try to see if anything sticks.
Tom Delay, calling Obama MArxist
Lizzy Dole calling her opponent Godless
Joe the plummer pretending he know what a socialist is.
Bible Barbie saying that Barack is involved with Palestinian Terror Group (when mccain contributed to the the leader of that person to the tune of Half a million dollars.
Where is the video? I don't seeit or any link to it
.
MO seems to be legitimately competitive while Kentucky seems to be an appeal to the Senate race.
409,239 voters could changed this election
Debunking the Bradley Effect, Again
"You know, I'm a guy that's had a little bit humble beginnings that only wanted to be a Navy Pilot."
Hmm... I thought you didn't really want to become a Navy Pilot, being bottom of your class and all.
He came from big money, Both Dad and grandad were admirals. He is something like bush, spoiled kid who screwed off in college and came out on the bottom. got famous by getting captured.
of already writing his inaugural address, McCain is secretly practicing his own victory schtick.
who has been on the Gov't/DOD dole HIS ENTIRE LIFE, beginning at birth.
Yeah, it's tough having an admiral for a father and a grandfather, getting into schools most kids dream of to fuck it up and graduate FOURTH FROM THE BOTTOM of a class of almost 900.
Humble, my ass. Slovenly, maybe.
Just like everything Obama is involved with, this presentation was "pure class". I believe it finally cleared the air about the lies circulated by McCain about his tax plan once and for all. Now their ads will make them look even more like pathological liars. This presentation touched everyone I watched it with in a very special, intimate way and convinced us, beyond any doubt, that this is not only a very special human being but he is PRECISELY
Can't you just feel the chest swell with pride.....USA!USA!USA!
I really, really, really hope that this man delivers and isn't just another bullshit artist. It is one thing to state all these wondrous changes, and it's another to actually get anything accomplished. The Patriotism Campaign..er...General Election is just around the corner now.....here is hoping the entire world isn't disappointed with your selection. Honest.
How many times have we been disappointed by very pedestrian individuals pretending to be honest and sincere candidates?
How many times have we seen this level of walking the talk as this man has accomplished in his political life?
Therein lies your answer. This man has something very special about him, indeed....it's called "personal integrity"....it's called "honesty"....it's called "wisdom" and "higher purpose". I can comprehend your level of cynicism because all too often it's the political rule that you can spout off a ton of horseshit in people's faces and expect not to be taken seriously. Unfortunately, as I've said, you don't find people of the commitment and integrity of Barack Obama willing to make the personal sacrifices necessary to accomplish these tasks. Sad but true.
Any life which has been touched by Barack Obama knows how truly gifted and special this man is.
And I believe that, in the guts of all americans tonight, we've made a very visceral realization - one that supersedes all analyses and dissection - it's that level of "knowing" that this man is the "real deal" and we will be blessed, indeed, if he is elected to represent us.
He has the power not only to heal this intentionally divided country but to heal the world - something almost impossible after what Bush has done nationally and internationally.
After 8 years of Bush, a Teletubby would be considered a knight in shining armour. That said, I hope people understand that political speeches and television "spots" are not real world. I could promise a bazillion dollars refunded to every taxpayer. That would change the world. Doesn't mean it would ever happen in a million years. He's a politician making promises. Let's hope he can deliver at least a few.
Obama is precisely the man this country (and world BTW) needs right now.
This presentation clinched it for everyone that Obama will not only become a good president - Barack Obama will be a GREAT president.
In fact, I came away from this presentation thinking that Barack Obama is "too good for the level of corruption that we, as Americans, have permitted". He's that good that we may, in fact, be even undeserving.
I'm just happy to shed a tear of hope and promise, rather than the past 8 years of rage and impotence.
I couldn't help myself at the end either. God, it truly feels like there is a light at the end of the tunnel of the Bush Reign nightmare.
I want to see Obama get a mandate - that's why I am working with the local Dem party to Get Out The Vote. I encourage everyone to try and get one more vote for Obama. If you don't know what to do, go to Obama.com
(Sorry for the commercial interuption! :)
I liked the video quite a bit. Kept me awake on this rainy night.
"stop Russian aggression" was a cheap shot, though.
Oh well, it's close to perfect.
Does he believe that about the Russians or is he just trying to appeal to the "strong national defense moderates"?
and go away. Piss on your cat,ok?
EOM
Ahh, the intelligent liberal.
the brave soul who hides behind an anonymous screen name.
I hope it's just appeal... Some "hope" that is, then he's just a politician.
But anyway, you can't win an election in America without swearing fealty to Israel and vow to defeat the Soviets. I mean Russians. Whatever.
... brought tears to my eyes.
Colin Powell said it best: This guy is transformational. He's what this country -- and the world -- needs right now.
What a contrast to the skeletal, sclerotic McGramps and his rabid, lipsticked pit bull.
You are not alone in your emotional reaction to tonight's presentation. I had a house full of people and there wasn't a dry eye in the room. People spoke of goose bumps intermittently and an overwhelming sense of impowerment which swept through their viscera as he brought us back into the equation called "our democracy".
This was very potent, powerful messaging. I've been blogging since it concluded and I have to tell you that even grown men found themselves teary-eyed during this production.
Frankly, as I've said, my reaction was that this country has fallen to such a low standard of acceptance of all things illegal and criminal that we don't deserve a man this good. We've fallen and failed as a country and our collective hearts have been broken by false promises made by frauds whom we've trusted.
Barack Obama has reignited a sense of trust once again in the hearts of all americans tonight.
Obama wins big Tuesday.
Fan of watership down?
This election should be about how we can help this country to get back on its feet again. That is what Obama has been talking about all along. His opponent has chosen to smear him to the detriment of this country. Instead of keeping on point about the issues, McCain has chosen to avoid the things that we must discuss and debate and has subverted the conversation to stupid things like Ayers and the devisive sort of politics that hurts us all.
It's about time that we had a leader who truly represented us all, and who will work to make this country and the world a better place to live. Obama is that leader. I thank God that he is running and will probably win.
I wish someone would ask mccain how many average joe pilots crashed numerous planes and still stayed in the program?
Wow...the video left me in tears. I think it was done beautifully. He made most of it about others, not himself, and neutered the whole "joe the plumber" thing. Game..Set..almost Match.
...but you can't make them drink." So true, so true.
America, this is a time that calls for some action out of the ordinary, that demands accountability and honesty to move this country out of the gutter and back up onto the road.
This is when we need "an inspiration" and a leader with intelligence and compassion. We have that opportunity with Senator Barack Obama and Senator Joe Biden. Anything less, we can't afford.
We are in for some changes....and it won't be over night. We have to take one step at a time and move each of us up to the level we can hope to find.
Go Obama!!
but a pencil must be lead.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX40RsSLwF4
as for voting, I did last week!
and everyone here(I hope the naysayers don't show up) I cast my vote for Barack Obama proudly and without fear. Hope in our future and the future of the world.
...after hearing his speech on the steps of the old state capitol. I haven't wavered once in the face of so mush adversity, even when coming from the same party and like-minded friends. Obama knows we will hold him accountable, and I know he will live up to it. I have never been this proud or excited about a presidential candididate ever, and I've been voting for 24 years.
Obama/Biden '08!!
america has, really, only one choice on tuesday. what a guy!
I hope the press will use the title "President Obama". It will be nice to hear "President" again after 8 years of "Mr." Bush.
If America doesn't vote for Obama, then as a nation, we are lost...
But i'm convinced he will win- the sad thing is the right wing will spend every second of his administration trying to tear him down- these right wingers are the very same people who until recently questioned the patriotism of anyone who critisized the president.
does not exist for the Repugs if a Democrat is in office. I still remember Newt saying in 1993, "He's not MY President". An Obama win is going to usher in the same ugliness that the Repugs are famous for. If they lose the House and Senate, they must never, ever be given the majority again.
I hope Obama gets a nice bounce from his well produced ad. The live shot at the end with another stadium full of people was very cool.
Way too heavy on the schmaltz for my personal taste. But I guess if that's what you've got to do?
How was Obama's speech in any way schmaltzy?
I didn't see not one beer in that Omercial!
I was watching Rachel Maddow, she said she didn't like the ad? I hope I heard it wrong.
Anyway, I simply want to say, I am proud to be an Obama-mama!!! Go Barack!!!
I think Matthews liked it alot and was restraining himself.
to vote for OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!
Why have you not already done so? No early voting in your area?
many of us who do not have early voting -- but wish we did!
A President we all can look up to. A decent man. A strong man.
He gives me hope and his strength gives me strength.
We are at a crossroads. With President Obama we can take the high road, without fear.
What we've wanted for years, an actual presidential president.
I teared up a few times during the presentation.
I am very hopeful about his ideas and focus energy policy
Thank you Barack, thank you for being our voice; thank you for running Mr President.
I'm too old to be a true believer in any politician, but damned if Obama isn't the exception—well almost—that proves the rule.
Finally a voice of reason, sense and one who believes in what science and fact can achieve. I will be proud to call Obama my President.
Not only is this the most important election in our lifetime but theres nothing more frightening then McCain in the whitehouse.
Check out the Mad McCain videos from tv1.com
www.tv1.com/playlists/show/11
You would be NUTs to vote for McCain
...the right choice isn't that difficult to make. Assuming of course that your beliefs do not interfere too much with your senses.
I too, like the expression "President Obama".
This country has been ruled not just be the wealthy. It has been ruled by the shareholders. The shareholders of the companies don't want one cent of their investment to go down so the company struggles to find a cheaper why to do business. They ship jobs overseas. They don't grow. They shut down offices. Anything to appease the shareholders. They shareholders have stunted the growth in this country and they don't want to pay any taxes on the money they have been making at the expense of prosperity in this country. You know what? I am suffering but it puts a smile on my face to see them lose their shirts.
The speech was poignant and well executed. We are all shareholders in the American dream. It's time that we take back our dream and put people over money. I think that Barack Obama can do it. It certainly won't be easy. November 4th is just the start. However, maybe the fact that change will be coming can put us back on track. I hope and pray that President Obama and all of us will succeed. Bush and his administration have created havoc and despair throughout the planet. This is the Bush legacy. We are paying the price!
"this isn't a picnic for me either, buster..."
Finally, until (and unless) VA, NC, PA, OH, FL, MO, CO, NM, NV (any combination of these) are in his favor, be prepared to defend the validity of our electoral process beginning Nov 5.
.
A good Barack Omercial...
... Kind of like the long forgotten Fireside chats of the past.
.
If this happens and Obama is elected we may begin to feel that we are a part of this government and not just a viewer looking at the wheels spinning.
But me and my brother...both kinda got choked up watchin that Omercial.
And we don't do that. We just don't.
Got to work early so I could see it. Holy cow - now I have to stop crying before the rest of my co-workers arrive. Please, God - Can we have this man as our leader? I do not want to think about the alternative. It would just be too awful. It is time, our moment is now. We need Barack Obama.
I hope President Obama puts the USA clocks back in synch with the rest of the world. I don't even know what time it is in the USA anymore. Bush totally screwed it up -- just to make it look like he accomplished something and to further alienate the USA. Everything those Texas fools did to our country needs to be reversed! Fast!
I've lived away from America for 30 years, and I've got to say this message from Obama choked me up--with real hope. That's the America I like to remember and believe in.
