In keeping with Frank Luntz's talking points, Mitch McConnell will block Wall St. reform -- by claiming to reform Wall Street. Hey, why not? It's not as if gobblety gook hasn't worked before! And I'm sure it had nothing to do with his recent meeting with Wall Street bankers:

Mitch McConnell has rounded up the necessary votes to block Democrats from bringing Wall Street reform to the Senate floor, a spokesman for the Senate Minority Leader said on Friday afternoon.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said on Thursday he planned to bring the bill to the floor next week where it would be debated and amendments added. McConnell has now persuaded 41 Republicans to vote against debating reform.

'We simply cannot ask the American taxpayer to continue to subsidize this 'too big to fail' policy. We must ensure that Wall Street no longer believes or relies on Main Street to bail them out. Inaction is not an option," McConnell writes in a letter to Reid that was provided to HuffPost.

Democrats have been battering McConnell all week for his firm opposition to the Democratic reform effort.

Reid spokesman Jim Manley told HuffPost that Reid will be moving ahead regardless.

"Congratulations. I hope they feel good," said Manley. "They've got 41 signatures on a weak, watered-down letter that simply calls for more negotiations. If they are at all serious, they will simply let us go to the bill next week and let the amendment process begin."

Manley said the bill will be brought up for a vote on a motion to proceed to debate later this coming week.

who doesn't know the RNC and other right wing corporatists pay Luntz to come up with these talking points because they can't think for themselves.

He systematically exposed the crime of the megabankers ...Chipped away daily at the greed and hypocrisy...Maybe Ted Kaufmann was right''the depth of deprived greed is endemic...THe dems need to get someone to play that role...today . Expose the repubs for the anti-American =anti Obama people they are!

This is not about helping anyone but the corporations...Not the American people or the Nation! Shameless ignorance!

Probably all paid for their university degrees, you bet they can't think for themselves.

The United States aspires to democracy, but no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power.

Scott Brown was a wild card in this but he joined McConnell. When asked about the bill he couldn't tell the interviewer what was in it. He was clueless. The male version of Palin. Red White and Blue on the outside yet empty on the inside.

Brown appears to be a quick learner in one regard. He's been taught to not fear his own ignorance but to follow the safe Repub negative-on-everything party line and therefore win the backing of multi-millionaire business owners, who divert the taxes they avoid paying to their collection of bought pols.

After a couple of votes going against his party facing the attacks he's starting to realize the only way to keep his seat his to follow his party of no. I do think it's a lot of fear.

I said this months ago - he is an obvious airhead - the people of Mass have done themselves & the rest of the oountry a serious disservice by sending this man with an IQ less than his age to replace Sen. Kennedy. These times are too critical for OJT, but even experience isn't going to sink in through this man's thick skull. One woman from Mass said "Well,he's cute.." ..but his idiocy isn't!

he doesn't have a chin. That hangy down thing under his lip is Ronnie Reagan's dried up old scrotum. The Regressives pass in from leader to leader like a religious relic.

He runs a string of Regressive whores to whatever corporate John will pay for their services. Yesterday it was the insurance industry. Today it's Wall St. Tomorrow it will be the mining industry. Regressives will lay down for whoever's got two bits.

Mitch McConnell has said that he and the other whores to Corporate America will do what they can to stop financial reform. In other words, the GOP WILL do the bidding of Wall Street BIG BANKS. Why? Maybe because Wall Street pledged money to the GOP?

So how will the Teas Baggers view this? vote here: http://www.abqlinks.com/pages/Polls/

They send this creepy old dude to Washington to "represent" them? Yeah, sure. First he represents himself, his deep pockets and bank accounts, then he represents the banks, corporations & big businesses. I know Kentucky is a backward state, but come on people....

nice to see that the MSM has finaly awakened from whatever dream they have been having. They are acting like the connection between Luntz and repubes is some new phenom..
i remember when Tweety matthews had him on during the 200 election, and not once did the mention he was a repube spin man..
Note to the MSM... check into the origin of these terms...
Death Tax
Coalition of the Willing
$1,500 for a family with three kids
death panels
enhanced interigation
climate change
bureaucrats in charge of health care
government takeover of ...
compassionate conservative
clear skies initiative

yep, 10 years later and NOW we hear about the connection between this snakeoil salesman Luntz and the repube party and their echo machine.

the GOP is taking a huge gamble.

..funds for earmarks to states with Senators blocking the American agenda. I don't know if that's possible but..maybe the Democrats should be selling just who gave away all the money to Wall St. in the first place AND who is blocking the financial reforms on Wall St. At what point do the Dems realize that two can play the same game?

Not my words, Go to the Hillbilly report, James "if I were a terrorist" Pence has all the info. The problem is this still doesn't get enough attention, and the democrats, in my opinion are just plain lazy for not calling these guys out on this crap. sensitivty and profesional courtesy be damned. these people and the electorate have to wake up. I'm reading Liars Poker, and have the Big Short next in the line-up, and the scariest thing about the whole story is that the stuff that was going on in the '80's isn't too differant from what was goig on in the last bubble. What was it somebody said about not studying history.
Mitch Mcconnell and his ilk should go to prison for the rest of their lives.

I guess that piece of music was used as background to figure out how much idiocy McConnel can espouse in a minute.

How about using it during one of Sarah Palin's speeches?
