Reports: U.S. Ships Massing Off Iran Coast As Israel Prepares To Strike
Via Raw Story, some horrible news if true - since an Israeli attack on Iran means they're seen in the Middle East as our surrogate. The Associated Press is still trying to confirm:
As unconfirmed reports of an imminent Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear facilities pick up steam in the Middle Eastern media, a US-based strategic intelligence company has released a chart showing US naval carriers massing near Iranian waters.
The chart, published by Stratfor and obtained by the Zero Hedge financial blog, shows that over the last few weeks a naval carrier -- the USS Harry S Truman -- has been positioned in the north Indian Ocean, not far from the Strait of Hormuz, which leads into the Persian Gulf. The carrier joins the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, which was already located in the area. The chart is dated June 23, 2010.
Reports of mass movements of Israeli and US naval warships have been circulating through the media for weeks. On June 19, the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz reported that 12 US and Israeli warships were seen moving through the Suez Canal from the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea.

That an Israeli ship passed through the Suez Canal at the same time as a USN carrier group? Coincidence! How do you think ships move from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea (Israel has ports on both), and beyond.
And that crazy-ass Zero Hedge story? Israel training in Turkey, then secretly moving their planes across the border to Georgia and Azerbaijan? And Turkey's government, which isn't very friendly with Israel at the moment, hasn't mentioned anything?

...haven't shown anything to prove that there's an imminent attack on Iran. Shit, maybe there's an imminent attack on Yemen or Saudi Arabia. The placement of the ships is right. And unlike an attack on Iran, an attack on Saudi Arabia would actually be a surprise. Their defenses would certainly be down, wouldn't they?
So that's it: The US and Israel are about to attack Saudi Arabia for funding terrorism against both states, and we'll get control of all of that oil. Disprove me.

Maybe there is no attack imminent, but you speak as to not being surprised if/when we do attack Iran. And news of this nature (could we/would we/should we/when will we bomb) only helps the public be less surprised when the bombs start falling.
