About the time I decide Glenn Beck really is oozy slime from the ninth circle of hell, Hannity slithers back into focus. Truly, there are some people so despicable, so utterly amoral...but I digress.

Last night Sean Hannity went on and on with a litany of lies intended to prove we have an irresponsible President. In the ultimate irony, Hannity claims Obama is not "interested in the facts or the truth." Oh, there's a hoot. He goes on to claim the White House was slow to react to the Nashville floods despite Nashville's mayor saying the opposite, Obama hasn't read Arizona's immigration law, the oil spill is Obama's Katrina (long debunked here, here, and here), and makes the scurrilous, unfounded, ignorant claim that this Administration is incompetent.

At the end he asks, "President Obama, is it time to step up? or maybe step aside?"

I feel the need to respond to him directly.

Gosh, Hannity. Where was that question when you were so bent in 2007 you felt the need to rant about "Democrats emboldening our enemies" by criticizing President Bush?

Mr. Hannity, were YOU ready to step up or step aside when your good pal Hal Turner was rounded up by the FBI and carried away for threatening federal judges?

And while I'm at it, Mr. Hannity, did you call for President Bush to step up or step aside when it was clear for anyone with half a brain to see how the Cheney-Bush administration perverted the rule of law with the efforts to politicize the US Attorneys? No, no you didn't. You APPLAUDED the erosion of our civil rights and constitution.

You know what I truly dislike, Mr. Hannity? I truly dislike people who stand up and thump their chests, puff up and call themselves "Christians" and "patriots" while using their taxpayer subsidized nonprofit organization to pay for private jets, nasty mailers, book-pimping and other activities unrelated to the purpose of said non-profit organization.

So here's the deal, Mr. Hannity. YOU can sit down and shut up or you can step down. At this point, you're a useless sack of words spewing onto the airwaves while MY taxpayers dollars subsidize your effort to dodge your own obligations to our country while you make a mockery of true patriots and Christians.

That is all.

Well, we've known for some time that Patrick Fitzgerald doesn't mess around. Just ask Rod Blagejovich and Scooter Libby. Yesterday Hal Turner, Sean Hannity's erswhile friend, got the same lesson:

CHICAGO—Hal Turner, an intermittent internet radio talk show host and blogger, was arrested today by FBI agents at his home in North Bergen, N.J., on a federal complaint filed in Chicago alleging that he made internet postings threatening to assault and murder three federal appeals court judges in Chicago in retaliation for their recent ruling upholding handgun bans in Chicago and a suburb.

Internet postings on June 2 and 3 proclaimed “outrage” over the June 2, 2009, handgun decision by Chief Judge Frank Easterbrook and Judges Richard Posner and William Bauer, of the Chicago-based 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, further stating, among other things: “Let me be the first to say this plainly: These Judges deserve to be killed.” The postings included photographs, phone numbers, work address and room numbers of these judges, along with a photo of the building in which they work and a map of its location.

Turner, 47, of North Bergen, N.J., was arrested this morning after FBI agents went to his residence to execute a search warrant. He was charged with threatening to assault and murder three federal judges with intent to retaliate against them for performing official duties in a criminal complaint filed today in U.S. District Court in Chicago. He is scheduled to have an initial court appearance at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday) before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael A. Shipp in U.S. District Court in Newark.

“We take threats to federal judges very seriously. Period,” said Patrick J. Fitzgerald, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, who announced the charges with Robert D. Grant, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Amanda Terkel at Think Progress has more details.

Turner was already facing charges in Connecticut for similar threats issued to state officials there.

There is at least a touch of irony here: Turner's previous threats involving Judge Lefkow were referenced in these posts. Turner wrote:

“Apparently, the 7th U.S. Circuit court didn’t get the hint after those killings. It appears another lesson is needed.”

Some of us wondered if Turner hadn't crossed the line into issuing real threats back in 2005. Now it appears the FBI has decided he has.

This is welcome news, but it's probably long overdue.

Now if only the FBI would take threats against abortion-clinic doctors every bit as seriously.

You all remember Sean Hannity's buddy Hal Turner, the neo-Nazi nutcase whose favorite activity is threatening various public officials, most notably federal judges -- though most recently he was also publicizing his empty threats to wreak havoc at President Obama's inauguration.

Well, it looks like the threats finally caught up with him:

Radio host Hal Turner — accused of hosting a website that incited Connecticut Catholics to "take up arms" and singling out two Connecticut lawmakers and a state ethics official — was taken into custody in New Jersey late today after state Capitol police obtained an arrest warrant for him.

Turner, who has been identified as a white supremacist and anti-Semite by several anti-racism groups, hosts an Internet radio program with an associated blog. Last week, the blog included a post that promised to release the home addresses of state Rep. Michael Lawlor, state Sen. Andrew McDonald and Thomas Jones of the ethics office.

"Mr. Turner's comments are above and beyond the threshold of free speech," Capitol police Chief Michael J. Fallon said in an e-mail announcing the warrant. "He is inciting others through his website to commit acts of violence and has created fear and alarm. He should be held accountable for his conduct."

What apparently gave Turner an excuse to issue threats this time was an ongoing dispute in Connecticut over legislation affecting the Roman Catholic hierarchy in the state:

"It is our intent to foment direct action against these individuals personally," the blog stated. "These beastly government officials should be made an example of as a warning to others in government: Obey the Constitution or die."

And, the post continued, "If any state attorney, police department or court thinks they're going to get uppity with us about this; I suspect we have enough bullets to put them down too."

The Opinion Mill: Hal Turner is a perfect example of how right-wing talk radio and cable shows serve as a conduit for bringing extremist views into the mainstream under the cover of offering "non-PC" humor and commentary.

Life and Death? Just Don't Think About It: We've linked other posts on this in the past, but the subject is too important, and the unhinged theocrats who walk among us too influencial to be permitted to operate without constant scrutiny and vocal criticism.

Sean Hannity and Hal Turner-Soul Mates

via The Nation: ..."During an August 1998 episode of the show, Turner reminded Hannity that were it not for the graciousness of the white man, "black people would still be swinging on trees in Africa," according to Daryle Jenkins, co-founder of the New Jersey-based antiracism group One People's Project. Instead of rebuking Turner or cutting him off, Hannity continued to welcome his calls....

Jenkins told me that while he and a group of antiracism activists demonstrated against a July 17, 2003, National Alliance meeting in Elmwood Park, New Jersey, which Turner attended, he encountered Turner and asked him about his relationship with Hannity. Turner claimed that he and Hannity would talk by phone and even recounted that Hannity had once invited him and his son on to the set of Hannity and Colmes. "In my view," says Jenkins, "I think Hannity has helped Turner out quite a bit. I'm willing to bet most of the conversations they had consisted of them talking shop." ...read on

Sean... are you embarrassed by your active participation in the life of a racist, Neo-Natzi, judge hating animal? Can you look into the camera and tell all of America you now denounce your association with this man that you yourself allowed to grow and flourish for years on end? Would you care to explain why this relationship even existed knowing the type of man Hal Turner is in the first place? Aren't you the least bit ashamed? Do you have any moral dignity at all? Isn't this the type of behavior that personifies the Republican Party? (Just testing my Hannity interview skills.)
