You all remember Sean Hannity's buddy Hal Turner, the neo-Nazi nutcase whose favorite activity is threatening various public officials, most notably federal judges -- though most recently he was also publicizing his empty threats to wreak havoc at President Obama's inauguration.

Well, it looks like the threats finally caught up with him:

Radio host Hal Turner — accused of hosting a website that incited Connecticut Catholics to "take up arms" and singling out two Connecticut lawmakers and a state ethics official — was taken into custody in New Jersey late today after state Capitol police obtained an arrest warrant for him.

Turner, who has been identified as a white supremacist and anti-Semite by several anti-racism groups, hosts an Internet radio program with an associated blog. Last week, the blog included a post that promised to release the home addresses of state Rep. Michael Lawlor, state Sen. Andrew McDonald and Thomas Jones of the ethics office.

"Mr. Turner's comments are above and beyond the threshold of free speech," Capitol police Chief Michael J. Fallon said in an e-mail announcing the warrant. "He is inciting others through his website to commit acts of violence and has created fear and alarm. He should be held accountable for his conduct."

What apparently gave Turner an excuse to issue threats this time was an ongoing dispute in Connecticut over legislation affecting the Roman Catholic hierarchy in the state:

"It is our intent to foment direct action against these individuals personally," the blog stated. "These beastly government officials should be made an example of as a warning to others in government: Obey the Constitution or die."

And, the post continued, "If any state attorney, police department or court thinks they're going to get uppity with us about this; I suspect we have enough bullets to put them down too."

Turner also recently suggested to readers of his blog that someone should shoot another abortion provider:

After the killing of abortionist George Tiller, another "doctor" has publicly announced he wishes to take Tiller's place to continue partial birth abortions!

Physician LeRoy Carhart of Omaha, NE wants to continue providing third-term abortions after the brazen slaying of his friend and colleague George Tiller.

Gee, this is becoming a "target-rich environment!"

I suspect someone has a bullet for this guy too. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

As I've explained previously:

Turner is not someone to take seriously, any more than gay-basher Fred Phelps. He's made numerous threats in the past, and all have been just so much gasbaggery. Moreover, he has a nonexistent following, especially after it was revealed he had been doing federal-informant work, which pretty much destroys your cred in white-power circles.

Nonetheless, authorities have no reason to tolerate these kinds of threats. Turner's arrest is long overdue.

Gee. I wonder if Hannity will report on this.

OK, OK. No, I don't really.

What he do, shout, "joe liebermann for president!"

HA!

Take THAT you nazi fuck!
Don't drop the soap bitch!

)O(

...the soap wouldn't be so bad after all.

what is a "soap bitch"?

Ohhhh! Soap [comma] bitch!

(I kid, I kid)

Two career hate spewers inspiring vicarious murder.

The murder of Dr. Tiller resulting from Conservative Hate Speech seems to have finally caught the attention of law enforcement...

and lack of REAL outrage on the law abiding people and the silence of the Federal government has emboldened the backward, small minded repressed slime in this country.

The right loves to talk about the rule of law. Well, it's time to start dropping the hammer on these scumbags.

I think phrases like, We'll get him dead or alive, and bring 'em on, gave the impression to a lot of Americans that being bad dudes was accepted as the American way. Sadly they took that attitude and ran with it. No one seemed to want to calm them down and instead voices like some at Fox seemed to encourage this tough guy tough talk. Now we are seeing the results of the tough guy country.

I draw a big line between GW Bush's "homesy cowboy" BS and the sheer hate speech that the religious right and other, let's call them what they are, racist groups have thrown around for DECADES.

None of this is new. These animals have been wallowing in the 19th Century for as long as I'm alive. The only difference now is they are given public forums in the media to spew their hate, and their enablers justify it under a blanket umbrella of calling it "free speech".

How does one wind up in jail and the other one on national TV puking up his bile?

This will heighten this guy's profile. Wanna bet HE ends up on TV too?

)O(

What's with all these evil guys with beards?

for the Ditto creeps at Faux.

It's long past due..

Things like this should cause Bill to watch his step. Of course it won't, but it should.

Now they need to go after O'Reilly for Tiller's death, Beck and Rick Perry also. As the article states, it's all beyond free speech.

Check out the first comment on the Hartford Courant article. It's in support of this terrorist, and it comes from where else but SOUTH AFRICA!!! Well whaddaya know!?! South Africa has angry racists too!

and she's totally not racist.
Don't stereotype.

.....Eating canned Iraqi baby hearts.

Cheney?

Seriously?
Where'd THAT come from?

What a long thread!

I don't mean to join it, but just want to add to the original point of "don't sterotype".....Lara Logan of CBS News is from South Africa. She's certainly not racist!

This thread has a few scary things going on, I'm going to take a deep breath and move on...

...several dozen more to go.

I wonder how long before the right says Obama is taking political prisoners.

Here is the bill, http://www.cga.ct.gov/2009/TOB/S/2009SB-01098...

The nature of it, is how non-profit corporations have to be administered when created by the Catholic Church in Connecticut. I am no lawyer, but it looks like lay members will be administering the non-profits. I can see where a bishop or priest might be a bit miffed, but it does not appear to be a bill that effects the organization of the church. It effects the creation of non-profit corporations by the church. This bill was created as a response to several corruption issues.

It's rather disgusting.

However, what is more disgusting is Hal's arrogance:

"Gee, this is becoming a "target-rich environment! I suspect someone has a bullet for this guy too. I guess we'll just have to wait and see."

"Obey the Constitution or die." (I find this rather ironic coming from one of the tools who cheers the murder of Dr. Tiller for providing CONSTITUTIONALLY LEGAL medical procedures, and seeks to deny women their right to privacy in matters of her own body).

"If any state attorney, police department or court thinks they're going to get uppity with us about this; I suspect we have enough bullets to put them down too."

One is either blind or just a really, really pitiful individual to claim that this is a freedom of speech issue. These are direct threats, glaring admissions to incite violence among those who are too stupid, and too delusional to know any better.

Kudos to the CT Capital Police. In light of the assassination of Dr. Tiller, it's about time these fear, and hate mongering cowards on the rabid and ridiculous reich are held accountable for their highly inflammatory, and highly volatile rhetoric.

The Catholic church, in what looks to be violation of lobbying laws, exhorted the faithful to get on Church-hired buses to the State Capitol to protest. Catholics bishops in Connecticut take their marching orders from the Family Institute of Connecticut, a group begun by Ken von Kohorn who is also a founder of the heavily Mormon-led National Organization for Marriage (Prop 8 proponents). All in all, the RC church in CT is pretty much a conservative political front group at the moment, and they jumped on this bill as further evidence of the liberal war on xtianity -- and to stir up violence. One seriously deranged young man has already been arrested for threatening Mike Lawlor and Andrew McDonald.

"One seriously deranged young man has already been arrested for threatening Mike Lawlor and Andrew McDonald."

That guy was a teacher in my old school. Even though his behavior was really scary he probably still is. They just gave him a slap on the wrist and told him to get some psych testing. Among other things he was wildly anti-gay. I hope he doesn't feel that any of his male students are not sufficiently masculine. Bugs me that my taxes are going to pay this fool's salary.

Bill was bitching last night because he thought the shooting of the soldier didn't get as much coverage as the shooting of Dr. Tiller. I don't know if it did or not because I don't read all the papers and watch all the cable shows all the time. I just felt it was one more attempt by Bill to put a wall between himself and the Dr. Tiller story.

Terrorism is not protected speech. That simple.

Was started by Jerry Springer and is just as bogus now as it was then. Maybe Springer's guests are actors but Dr. Tiller wasn't. These are real world people with real world consequences. I've been wondering when one of them would go too far. Now my question is: Will the right ignore this, tone down their rhetoric or increase their bellicosity toward civilized society? My guess is the third one.

...this is a damned good thing but far too late, as far as I'm concerned. My question is, why did it take so long and how come law enforcement only got proactive on his fat, pasty ass when he vaguely threatened them in the abstract? It seems to suggest that they only get off their own donut-larded asses when they're threatened and the rest of us have to take our chances. I think the targeted CT lawmakers and the OSE official were just incidental in the complaint.

Where were they when I was furiously writing dozens of emails this past winter to the North Bergen PD, the Capitol Police, the Hudson County DA's office, the FBI, TSA and other pertinent agencies including dozens of the 246 congressmen whose addresses he'd threatened to release?

And did his standing as a paid informant with the FBI have anything to do with his seeming invulnerability all these years? Maybe someone should investigate their collusion with him. I've been trying to take down this fat freak for years and I'm kind of pissed off that I had nothing to do with this and that his arrest was occasioned by something this relatively petty.

...the post that got him arrested immediately attracted a comment from another skinheaded nutzoid who said, "Yes, we have enough bullets. When you showed up at caller Clean Harry's house, you had 4 carloads of heavily armed Citizens with you. I should know, I was there.

BTW, the NJ Militia has been regrouped and re-activated as an Unorganized Militia. 185 "members" so far. Since it is not a paper organization there is no bank account, no address, no letterhead, no newsletter, etc.

Just lots of target practice on my farm in [redacted by blog owner]."

So, yeah, Harry's been known to get off his fat ass once in a while to cause some mayhem, provided he has four carloads of goons as backup. He also threatened to send some of the same to my house, a threat that my military training told me to take very seriously.

His wife and kid must be so proud of him right now.

And they wonder why they've attracted attention from the feds.

I think it's high time the government releases a report on the dangers of right wing extremists.

Oh, wait.....never mind.

Perhaps it should be dusted off and presented apologetically instead of hemming and hawing when those on the right say it targets Christians and veterans. When you criticize the leftist extremists they start a cheering squad, but when you turn the lens on them, they start shouting "persecution".

If he is tried and convicted, I hope he gets to room with Bubba. And I hope Bubba is looking for a new white bitch.....

[Comment Deleted By Administration For Violation Of Terms Of Service]

I think we all should demand that Faux News cause Insannity to issue an on-air apology over his relationship with Turner and other racists he has had....or better yet, take Insannity off the air!

)O(

If Freud is to be believed, men are just more honest, and women sublimate a natural drive for something more "socially suitable."

Good. I hope it's just the beginning.

I wonder if BillO will cover this story tonight? He historically has talked about "left wing hate speech," but I don't know of any left wing talk show hosts or bloggers who have gotten arrested like this right wing hate monger was yesterday....that is, arrested for actual hate speech.

So this guy is supposed to be an anti-semitic?
I thought hammerhead was a jew.

I thought they arrested him for sexually abusing his own kids.

I was a moderator at a polling place in Meriden, 11/4/08, when Mr. Turner came to harass the young poll standers at the site. He told them they were breaking the law by standing the 75 feet away from the door to the polling site, and screamed at them, took their pictures, and threatened to call the cops. When I found out what was happening outside I called the cops to come. By the time they arrived he had left, but they left one to guard us the rest of the very long day.

The feeble mind of a delusional patriot...

What shame... to have a state like Connecticut whom was designated the “Constitution State” by the General Assembly in 1959.

To answer to charge(s)... even though the charge will not be addressed until next week.(Not soon enough if ya ask me)

May we have sweet justice? "Stay tuned"!

And David, "Never surrender your work here" it's needed now, more then ever. I salute!
