It's C&L's Two Week Solidarity Pizza Anniversary!

Two weeks ago Amato put in a couple dollars to get us started buying pizzas for the Occupy protesters across the country. Then you guys stepped up. We've raised over $21,000 and fed over 26 cities pizza.

You guys haven't stopped giving and the protesters haven't gone home, so we are not ending our drive either. If you want to participate here's the PayPal:

For me this was the way I knew I could let these guys know we appreciate what they're doing. And you guys are the driving force behind this. Thank you! It's been an amazing two weeks (we never thought it would last this long) the protesters have said they're in it for the long haul - so are we!

There is something full of awesome about a blog that purports to be a "definitive collection" of "Bea Arthur plus pizza plus mountains" images.

Ashcroft and a slice

I still say New York pizza is the best, but I wouldn't have any with Ashcroft and neither should his old political appointees...

A pizza luncheon to be hosted this Wednesday by former Attorney General turned consultant John Ashcroft for some of his old political appointees has raised eyebrows in the Justice Department's ethics office, U.S. News has learned. The ethics office, which provides Justice employees with guidance on a wide range of ethics questions, has not prohibited invitees from attending the lunch.

Geraldo wants to fight Olbermann

tof-geraldo-kerry.jpg I guess since he's been canceled he's losing it completely. He called out Keith Olbermann to a fight.

Apparently Geraldo was visiting with 104.1 FM's Monsters just before Christmas, when they asked him about the time he made international headline for disclosing too much information about troops in Iraq. Geraldo claimed the incident was blown out of proportion, largely by NBC -- and specifically Olbermann. Geraldo then began mumbling semi-audible names, seemingly meant to describe Olbermann: "midget ... punk ... slimeball." But then, with the Monsters helpful prodding, Geraldo went a step further, leaving no doubt about what he was saying. He called Olbermann a coward -- specifically a He then said he was ready to fight him, saying: "I would make a pizza out of him."

Didn't Geraldo fight Stallone's brother for Howard Stern after he broke his nose with some White Supremacists? He did criticize Olbermann on The Factor once before, but what's up with all the violence?

Does Rockey sound too good to be true?

Is it too much to ask that our liberal media do a little checking? Digby wondered too...

AttyTood:

In fact, we had a hunch -- that maybe, just maybe, Rockey Vaccarella had a background himself in GOP politics.

And, whaddya know? Turns out that the earthy Vaccarella -- a highly successful businessman in the fast-food industry -- is indeed a Republican pol, having run unsuccessfully under the GOP banner for a seat on the St. Bernard Parish commission back in 1999. We don't have a good link, but here (via Nexis) is part of his bio that ran in the New Orleans Times-Picayune on Oct. 15, 1999:

The Protrusion...a satirical newspaper
Sherri Tomlinson and her husband Dan used to trust their government. Now they find themselves in the fight of their lives against what they see as a deceptive campaign waged by the U.S. government and the American medical community to promote false information about the benefits of low-fat diets and tout studies in which new benefits of the diets are discovered. The findings of one such study were announced yesterday, and they include the discovery that a low-fat diet can reduce the risk of a recurrence of breast cancer in women already being treated for the disease.

“They must really think I’m gullible, these guys” Sherri says. “Less fat makes you healthier. Yeah. I suppose they have a bridge to sell me, too. These guys are unbelievable.”

Dan smelled something fishy right away as well. He sits on his couch with food spread out. In his hands, cheese puffs. At his side, soda. In front of him, more of him. “It just doesn’t ring true. It sounds like something else is going on. Something political. I mean, how can dieting prevent cancer? I’ve tried those fad diets. What’s this one called? Low-fat? Yeah, whatever. They’re all a scam. If you don’t do the exercise they recommend, it doesn’t even work. It’s ridiculous. One pepperoni pizza and it’s ‘ruined’ or something. Continue reading...
