Scooter Libby's sentencing comes up this week. While Fred Thompson and his buddies will ignore the "Rule of Law" that was so important during the Clinton impeachment and speak of how non-partisan and decent Libby is (Jeez, non-partisan? How can they even say that with a straight face?) and how deserving he is of a pardon (ack), Pontificator at DailyKos wonders if Bush will seek another option for right now:

So, if Judge Walton orders prison time for Libby and denies him bail on June 5, Bush will have to decide very quickly whether to issue a pardon.[..]

Is it possible that, rather than pardon Libby right now, Bush will commute his sentence so that he doesn't have to serve prison time, and then pardon him in December 2008?
