It was on this day, February 5th in 1972, that T Rex hit at No.1 on the UK singles chart with "Telegram Sam." It would be the third number one song for the band and the first of two number ones from the album The Slider.

The song has been cited as for bringing the expression "Main Man" into the pop lexicon.
