50 may be the new 30 to some people but even a 30-year-old has to know that it’s the height of sleaziness for Tennessee Sen. Brent Taylor to have sent unsolicited, nude photos to multiple women, while he was married.
But Taylor, now a MAGA Congressional candidate, was 53 when he engaged in that behavior.
Instead of taking the kind of personal responsibility Republicans are always demanding of others, Taylor is trying to sweep his behavior under the rug by calling it “youthful indiscretion.” It wasn’t just one “indiscretion” but many. “Multiple sources say they had received or seen nude photos from Taylor, who is running for U.S. Congress in Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District,” the Nashville Scene reported.
“As I near 60 years old, the expiration date has come and gone on any of my youthful indiscretions,” Taylor told the Scene. “My god and my wife have forgiven me, and I would consider everyone else doing the same.” He tried to argue to Memphis’ ABC24 that it really shows what a great Christian he is. “What this shows is my Christian and my wife’s Christian redemption from having an indiscretion and working through it together,” he said.
It’s one thing to forgive him. It’s a whole ‘nother thing to think he’s fit to serve in Congress. Especially when his campaign website touts his conservative values, his 30-year marriage and being active in a Baptist church. Two sources confirmed the married man sent nude photos in 2021, when Taylor was 53.
Justin Pearson, Taylor’s campaign opponent and a member of the “Tennessee three,” ripped Taylor for both his sexting and trying to dismiss it as a “youthful indiscretion.”
“The fact that he would dismiss his behavior as youthful indiscretions’ despite it happening recently, in his fifties, & while he held government office is ridiculous,” Pearson wrote on social media. “Career politicians like Brent Taylor and billionaires like Donald Trump have been abusing their power and getting away with it for far too long. This is the type of predatory behavior that needs to be rooted out of our society and politics.”
“Tennessee deserves leaders who respect women—not sexually harass, expose their genitalia to, or take advantage of them,” Pearson added in a separate post.
Unsurprisingly, Taylor boasts about his affinity for adjudged, self-proclaimed, sexual predator Trump. In fact, the image of Taylor at the top of the Scene’s article shows him wearing a “Trump Trump Trump” button.
