Arthur Prysock - One of the Greatest and one of the truly underrated.

I'm convinced, when you start digging into the history of Jazz and early R&B there is an embarrassment of riches when it comes to great vocalists, particularly great vocalists who have gone shamefully unnoticed in recent years. One of those, and probably in the top 5 would be Arthur Prysock, whose lush Baritone and impeccable phrasing gave another overlooked giant, Billy Eckstine, a run for his money.

Here, in a rare broadcast from NBC Radio's Stars In Jazz Series, is Arthur Prysock, along with the incredible Slim Gaillard in two fifteen minutes sets from Birdland in New York on September 9, 1952.

Two major talents on one bill in one club on one night. It doesn't get much better than that.
