Author and The Nation contributor Jeremy Scahill talks to Jon about his new book, Blackwater: The Rise of the World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army. The rise of private security companies in general, and Blackwater in particular, is a troubling development on so many levels -- especially when they're used domestically as with NOLA. That role would usually be filled by the National Guard. Where might they be? Perhaps the GOP will contract Blackwater for security at the 2008 convention, too.
Robert Greenwald examined Blackwater's role in Iraq in his great documentary Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers. Like his other films, this one is a must-see.
