SiCKO's Truth Squad Sets CNN Straight
By Nicole Belle Monday Jul 09, 2007 10:52amCNN: "But no matter how much Moore fudged the facts, and he did fudge some facts..."
- This is libel. There is not a single fact that is "fudged" in the film. No one has proven a single fact in the film wrong. We expect CNN to correct their mistakes on the air and to apologize to their viewers.
So, Blitzer, will we hear an apology this afternoon?

Login or Register to post comments.
A reich-winger apologize? Don't hold your breath.
Don't hold your breath. Do they ever apologize? For anything...
Apologize! LOLOL!
Reich Wing Rule One
NEVER LET THE FACTS GET IN THE WAY.
My pvr is set to record the situation room today!!!
I'm not holding my breath on this one. I wish they would though.
No, CNN won't apologize. There will be breaking news
with Paris Hilton or something that will distract us I'm sure.
My PVR is set to record the situation room today...
Wolf Blitzer = Corporate whore, AIPAC whore, zionist trash. -- Anderson Cooper = Ex-CIA operative - Zionist symapthizer (see Israel/Lebanon CNN coverage -- what a joke) -- In short, Americans are so brainwashed and have had so much BS pumped into their heads for so long that they have lost the ability to think OR CARE. Mark my words - you WILL start caring in a few years. (Too little, too late???)
Gupta and Blitzer don't care that people are losing their life savings from these predatory insurance companies. Whatever new "wonder drug" ad pays for the next commercial break is all they care about
It's not libel unless than knew it was false and they still went with it.....Moore is a public figure. The standard for libel is more rigorous....
CNN still owes a correction....
I watched Michael. He was awe-inspiring. Strangely enough, or maybe not, Dr. Gupta was not available to answer to Michael in person, just a pre-taped critique of the movie. I understand they will both be on Larry King tonight. I NEVER watch Larry King, but tonight will be glued to the TV set. Hallelujah! Someone has dared to tell the truth to the media and be seen all over the world. Kudos to Michael Moore.
CNN is a bastion of 21st Century American "journalism", so naturally I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for them to do the right thing here. I'm sure they'll portray it as the usual "he said/she said" controversy, which does just about as much to help their corporate owners as the original hit piece.
I suspect they only apologize to poor, sad, non-celebrities like Hilton and ultra-right blowhards like Kristol.
Print it when you see it.
I'll be on the lookout too.
By the way, that M. Moore appearance was great. Almost felt sorry for Wolfe.
Almost.
How's the right going to character assassinate this? Was that Looooooo Dobbs saying he's to the left of Chavez? What a dick. That's a good, old fashioned, high-school thing to say.
Where are the professionals? Where is the integrity? We'd have to wear surgical gloves to find it.
And sadly, Joe Scarborough, one of the few Republican/Conservatives I like, (he had Dennis Kucinich on yesterday to ask him how good it felt to him that the country has come around to Kucinich's opinion that Cheney needs to be impeached, and he also had a nice talk with Arianna Huffington on the same show as well), jumped on the pile on the rabbit and slam Michael Moore band wagon this morning.
At the 3:20 minute mark in this clip he tells Moore that if he wants to improve healthcare in the US, he should lose weight.
That's not the least of it, he goes on throughout the clip, along with Mika and John Ridley to disparage everything else Moore has done as well.
A couple of hours later, after getting flooded with emails from irate viewers he ended the show with another set of slams.
Very, very disappointing, Joe. There are few Republicans I can take seriously anymore and I really wish you had engaged your brain before launching on this tirade, it's so beneath you.
~Nyc
Will the big bad Wolf Blitzer apologize? Not by the hair on his chinny chin chin.
Zio-Sheep @ 6:
I know of Leslie Blitzer's AIPAC connection, but is Anderson Pooper really an ex-CIA agent?
Joe Klein's conscience @ 15:
There are supremely important messages in Sicko--and one of them is that it's time for the US Government to start being afraid of the people instead of the people being afraid of the government. Unless and until we ALL stand up, like Michael Moore, and begin to demand accountability and the truth from the government (and that includes the military-industrial-corporate owned media who are nothing more than government mouthpieces), nothing is going to change. We need to act, now, and start demanding that our government understands that this is a country of the people, by the people, and FOR the people. This insanity has gone on long enough. Michael Moore is a true American Patriot and we need to learn from his courage. Now.
Perhaps if Wolf had to make an unplanned visit to a busy urban ER he would have a slightly different view of how great our system is.
Mr. T @ 12:
I am disappointed in Lou. He is on the right side of an issue(immigration) but for all the wrong reasons. I'm beginning to wonder if he's not being invited to the cocktail parties anymore and that it's getting to him.
I just watched the video over at michael moore's website...hilarious and fabulous. I am looking forward to Michael moore and sanjay on larry king. Moore will tear king and sanjay a new one tonight, unless they pull an o-reilly (fair and balanced!!) and cut his mic by accident.
Everything moore said about canada is true. Yes we have to wait longer, but when we get treated, everything gets treated no matter what your social or financial standing is. And the best part of the movie? Moore controls himself when it comes to politics...it's not about bi-partisanship, it's about taking care of each other. That's what the rest of the world does, why not america?
Fat chance the arrogant goons at CNN will ever admit they were wrong since they pray to the almighty god of deceit and hubris. Remember Loo-Ney Dobbs---we check the facts, and if we say them, then they are right.
Actually, they'll wait till Wofie boy has a day off or two
and some sit in shill will apologize for the network,
releiving Blitzer from having to own up to his crap.
Time for Blitzer's "prostate check".
Actually, I missed it, because I STOPPED WATCHING CNN.
In my limited spare time, I have to go to sources of actual real news. And that CNN hasn't been for years.
Scarborough telling Moore to lose some weight certainly isn't going to win him many new friends, since MM happens to look like the average blue-collar American. Is it good? No, but it is what it is and Michael represents the average US citizen moreso than Scarborough does.
I just finished reading the transcript of both the interview and Gupta's piece which precede it. For the most part, the "inaccuracies" Gupta cited/alleged were pretty minor - mostly matters of interpretation rather than actual inaccuracies, but at the beginning of his piece and in his conclusion, he really hyped them up with things like "no matter how much you twist the facts..."
(Of course, it would be refreshing if CNN were to subject any of the Bush admins record to the same sort of scrutiny as they direct towards a movie, but I digress...)
What I found most remarkable about Gupta's commentary were the following statements:
"Americans have shorter wait times than everyone but Germans when seeking non-emergency elective procedures like hip replacement, cataract surgery or knee repair. That's not something you'll see in "Sicko" as Americans tell their tales of lack of coverage and suffocating red tape. "
vs.
In Canada, you can be waiting for a long time. A survey of six industrialized nations found that only Canada was worse than the United States when it came to waiting for a doctor's appointment for a medical problem.
So Americans are the second worst AND second best when it comes to lengthy waiting lists???
Here's my question - How do you go on the air so totally unprepared unless you were trying to smear someone? If you don't know the facts then Shut UP!! If I went into a surgery as unprepared as Wolfie goes into an interview all of my patients would die on the table.
So, I guess that leaves us with 2 possibilities - Blitzer is a partisan hack or Wolfie is a moron. Which is better?
i'd be surprised if they say anything about it, let alone an 'I'm sorry'. media heads have always been a headstrong bunch.
Demand an apology from CNN for Dr. Sanjay Gupta's biased report on 'SiCKO' and for helping the Bush administration lie us into a pointless war. You can find this at Moore's site send he makes it easy to send them an e-mail.

Thanks for watching CNN so I don't have to. I expect that any on-air corrections and apoplogies will be posted on C&L, right? So I don't have to watch CNN? That would be great. Oh and thanks for watching Fox news for me too.
The rest of you stop watching CNN and FOX and let C&L do it all.
J. Lebowski @ 31:
I am the walrus...
I love the fact that Moore is so confident in his research that he threatens to actually sue people for trying to muddy the waters by calling him a liar. That's exactly what I would do. You should't be allow to just trash someone's work unless you are ready to prove it. It also makes people think twice to make sure they know what the heck they are talking about.
That was such shoddy reporting!! At one point the man says that 15-20 percent of people seek care outside of the health system and he doesn't even state what country he's talking about.
No sources stated for the statistics, just ridiculous...
[Deleted. Off topic-Sitemonitor]
What's wrong with your link to "It's all here"? It is not opening.
CNN said this morning that Sanjay Gupta was in surgery yesterday when Moore was on. They also said that Gupta would respond to Moore THIS AFTERNOON on CNN.
It's the classic right wing recipe. Lie, Rinse, Repeat. Wake up America!
Actually he did fudge a scene, while not necessarily a fact, with his donation to the losers at moorewatch.com. Moore was talking about one thing while showing different clips of non-related blog clips.
Creative editing on Moore's part, but hardly a misrepresentation.
maybe moore's next film should cover the pravda-esque propaganda outlet the US media has become.

A friend of mine who was on disability for seizures and a busted right shoulder socket committed suicide last Friday b/c he couldn't get any medical care. The system kept putting him off and putting him off. He told DHS 4 years ago that if they couldn't or wouldn't fix his shoulder socket, then he wanted them to cut that arm off b/c he was tired of the pain.
My cynical view is that Soc. Sec. disability wants to push people back and postpone and deny any actual services, hoping they'll die in the meantime. They got their wish. RIP Tony.
You didn't think I was rolling out of here naked!
I'm hoping any correction by CNN won't "fudge" things. Moore provided all the links. They really should have done their research beforehand, but this was a hatchet job designed to placate conservatives. NPR did the same thing. Gutless.
Looks like Blitzer and Gupta are joining Kurt Loder:
MTV’s Hatchet Man On Sicko
Check out the link. Loder also aligns himself with rightist cretins like David Horowitz. And he bashed "An Inconvenient Truth" as well.

shoulder pain does indeed tend to be unbearable- i have no insurance, and no money; i have a debilitating disease and have been suffering recently with shoulder pain (mostly nocturnal) and was told that i'd "just have to live with it"- and when it flares up i often wonder how long that will be possible; not only i'm i suffering excruciating pain, but i am losing way too much sleep.
that is a sad sick shame. sorry for your loss.
and i agree with your "cynical" view, though i don't think it's the least bit cynical, on the contrary it's likely quite accurate.
I have no problem with critically analyzing a Moore film but to say "fudged the facts" in a very short report with very little sourcing is just silly. It was either a boneheaded error in phrasing or calculated to give their new rightwing demographic a happy ending.
So when will CNN blast the "facts" in Coulter or O'Reilly's latest books before having them on?
* crickets *
Forget the apppology, it was well worth it just to see Mike roast Blitzer on the grill. I want to see more people do it. May this start a trend where people hold the media accountable for spreading the wealth of falsehoods to Americans.
Sanjay Gupta is claiming that the only fact that he got wrong was the per capita amount and then stated that Michael Moore should have put that figure in his movie. At least he mentioned that Michael Moore posted a response on his website. There will be a further discussion on Larry King tonight.
LARRY KING - GUESTS MICHAEL MOORE AND SANJAY GUPTA. @9p.m. est
I will definitely have my popcorn out for this.
Email CNN and reference MichaelMoore.com. Demand an apology.
http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form5.html?65
Blitzer looked like a dummy caught in the headlights. May other journalists start reporting the facts as they come to realize you can't just report anything and not be held to account. I want to see others do as Mike did. I think we should encourage it so that the media can get back to what it was meant to do, report the facts.
Were people afraid of Hillary's health care reform, because they expected to hear her say, "Turn your head and cough"?
Here is a phone number for Mr. Gupta. 404 827 5147
His assistants name is Ann Howard.
I "had" more respect for Sanjay Gupta but I'm beginning to realize that maybe the healthcare industry pays him to be their mouthpiece.
CNN apologize? Not when the next commercial advertises a drug for Restless Leg Syndrome or some other made-up disease. Do you think Dr. Gupta would keep his job if he told us that these drug companies create new diseases just to sell their pills? I doubt it. CNN -- the most busted name in news!
how very faux news of them...
CNN has restless fact syndrome!
My 12-year-old and her best friend (also 12) went to see "Sicko" -- and they said it was the most amazing movie they had ever seen. They recounted every detail, saying it made them cry but also made them laugh. Michael Moore may not even realize just how much his audience has expanded with this film!
dr. sanjay gupta, wolfie, lou dobbs, etc. all the same bullshit. they only care about controversy (see, ratings); accuracy and sound reporting are for whimps.
this parrots lou dobbs woefully inaccurate leprosy statistic in his attempt to stoke irrational fears about mexicans. AND--when challenged on its accuracy (which it most definitely was NOT)--he states "if we reported it, its fact"
and that, my friends, is the state of cnn (i'm not even going to start about glenn 'wear da white woman at' beck)
Samson- @ 74:
Yup...ratings. Even CNN Internation just agreed with this this morning. How about some reporting guys & gals? I bet good reporting would get good ratings...
J. Lebowski @ 56:

Yes, wouldn't it be great and refreshing....BUT, most interviews(be it Faux Noise, CNN
or other MSM "news"(?) outlets) very, very seldom have guests on LIVE...they are generally
taped and edited, so to see Michael M. having the opportunity to make Wolfie look like
a total idiot/fool was really wonderful....We will probably have to wait another 3 years
for this to occur again.
Hail to the Chimp @ 64:

#60 Battleaxe - Thanks for your condolences. I'm sorry for your pain. Try to hang in there. Would some gentle yoga help? I know I sleep better after I've done even about 20 minutes of stretches and relaxation.
I wonder what the world will be like when we Boomers all get *really* old and decrepit. Michael Moore is heroic to get all this out to the public. Hopefully it will engender more changes in the system. I haven't seen Sicko yet.
Isn't that Sanjay Gupta a quack spiritualist, anyway? How about his facts?
well done. just lay out the facts, and try to leave out the emotion. until they respond, just keep posting this every day. they'll eventually wear down and either apologize or at least present their defense.
baby jesus apologizes for being a complete fraud since the beginning of time
or whenever baby jesus was created, either way
I liked it when Wolfie finally got MM back on the subject of his film and he tried to play him against Hilary Clinton. I am sure Wolfie thought it would be seen as an olive branch. MM immediately threw it back on his shoulders and made reference to the hit pieces that prevented her plan from moving forward 14 years ago. Wolfie must have felt like he was stepping in his own crap throughout the interview.
Unlike HC, Moore is not a politician. He brings his own rules to the game and he has no reason to accept defeat. I also loved it when he said he did not speak in sound bites and refused to be taped at the end until Wolfie said they would air it unedited.
KC Star, Business section, D-15: Julius Karash's 'health' industry column uses the same tried and true and tired tact as CNN in dealing with Sicko's referencing St. Joseph's Medial Center..Karash ends with.. "Yes, our health-care system could use a lot of improvement. But no system is perfect and never will be." Ahh, the voice of the status quo, 'everything's imperfect, and so complex, so don't y'all bother'. St. Joseph's currently advertises their no-wait emergency room which is probably true since they've followed the market to the burbs and don't deal with the uninsured masses in the city. Even Adam Smith acknowledged that markets fail to produce some public goods. Thank you, Michael Moore, for a breath of fresh air... now here comes the strangulating 'invisilbe hand' of entrenched self-interest (as Smith would have predicted).
[Deleted. Off topic. And while I'm at it-I actually knew The Dude. And you dude, are no Dude-Sitemonitor]
I teach 8th grade English and several years ago all our students had to write an essay about "someone they admire." I'll never forget one essay a student wrote about Michael Moore. It contained lines like, "When you got up at the Oscars and made that speech, it was the bravest thing I'd ever seen. Tell me what companies are bad, tell me what politicians are lying, tell me whatever - I'll believe whatever you tell me...."
baby jesus @ 84:
My understanding is that in the New Testament, in John 1:1 reads,
"En arche en ho logos, kai ho logos en pros ton theon, kai theos en ho logos,
In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God."
I'm basing this in part on the Nicene Creed which reads, "And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of Very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father by whom all things were made..."
That means supposedly Jesus (Word) existed as one with God in substance, and with him as a seperate individual. However, the use of the term Word (Logos) sounds like it drew from Pythagorism, and the idea of several in one substance sounds almost Hindu.
Did the Word (Logos) ever say, "Good eeevening...I bid you velcome..."?
I draw from Pythonism (Monty).
meanwhile, Mr. and Mrs. John Doe are mesmerized by the journalism that is MSM. Will they ever be snapped out of it??!!
Moore took advantage of a helpless target. For some reason, Moore didn't follow the unwritten rule and sit there and take it. He should apologize to Blitzer for giving him such a thorough butt kicking.... as soon as we have a drastic temperature drop in Hades!
My God! Wolfe looked like a whupped dog... and Moore piled it on. It was beautiful. If it were Billo, he would have been shouting, "Cut him off! Shut up! Shut up!"

Moore vs. Gupta
Bring it!
Islamic Rage Boy @ 101:
first of all, since michael moore made the film, he has taken responsibility for his health, and is committed to getting himself in shape. he has already lost over 60 pounds, doing the his part to avoid health problems.
secondly, what exactly are you trying to prove??? his point that he'd have to leave the [most wealthy] country [in the world] to get quality healthcare?
IRB: Your question was obviously rhetorical, and thus doesn't deserve an answer, but I'll reply anyway.
First of all, wishing a stroke or type 2 diabetes on anyone is incredibly cruel and hateful. For you to say "when" he has a stroke is a form of sympathetic magic, a.k.a. voodoo, and you should be careful of that. What you send out comes back to you, my friend.
As for where Michael Moore will get his health care, I'm sure he's quite wealthy and thus able to get excellent health care in this country. That's exactly the point. People like Michael Moore, who have a lot of money, have no problem getting health care in the U.S. Poor people, like the 47 million who don't have health insurance in this country, are out of luck. Until the system changes, ONLY the Michael Moores will be assured of getting health care. Now in France, even the poorest person would be treated for that diabetes or that stroke, as opposed to here, where a person who cannot afford to pay the insurance companies would very possibly not be able to buy insulin or get important treatment after having a stroke.
So there's a measured, thoughtful response to your immature, taunting comment. I wonder how you'll respond to it. Maybe by calling me fat? (I'm not, but oh well)
Michael Moore is a bit misunderstood. I think because he is viewed as a producer of documentaries, so people expect him to function so. He is actually more of a provocateur. His work isn't about cold hard facts, but more to make people think and to make people aware that we have been lied to about anything imaginable from our Government and big corporations for decades to further their hidden agendas. Universal health care is not perfect, but what is? The fact remains that the U.S. is supposedly the wealthiest and most powerful country in the world but yet we have one the worst health care systems of any industrialized nation in the world. Look at the fact a women died in a pool of her blood and vomit on the floor of an LA hospital ER while the only attention she received was a janitor cleaning it up. That is a more sensational example. There are people who do not seek medical attention because they simply do not have insurance because they cannot afford it. People have this annoying habit of eating a couple meals a day and making sure their kids are eating and are wearing clothes. People who work 2 sometimes 3 jobs at a time. If they can afford it is very limited or afraid to use it because the rates will go up. There are people who have insurance but because of some debilitating chronic illness just keeping up the deductible is enough to push them into bankruptcy. The bottom line is if you are not a member of the 3 to 5 percent of the wealthiest people in the U.S. you can't afford to get very sick without signing over everything you own to the hands of the state and you still won't get proper care. Something is wrong.......but this the United States, the land of contradictions.
Glasnost and Perestroika. It's time for U.S. news outlets to take a page from our former Soviet friends and follow their lead.
The sad thing is that CNN will simply pour on the hate and bury Moore under whatever pile the right has dictated. They'll put a spin on the fact that they were called liars as well. The problem is not that they lied, it's that we noticed and pointed it out. It's that we dare call them on it.
It's our fault for catching them.
Then it's time to spin the public response. It's just a couple of moore-moonies making noise and link it to whatever the hate-of-the-week is. Voila. Reality averted.
One issue that has not been discussed in this debate is teh cost of E&O insurance US doctosr have to carry.
The US spends $ 7000 per person on health care each year. What protion of that is needed for E&O insurance and what protion is needed by insurance companies to cover litigation costs .
Excellent Point!!!
Moore and Gupta are on Larry King tonight (7/10/07). Should be fun.
Wolfe and Sanjay are going to be on Larry King tonight. Everyone, please call in and challenge them. Do not give them a forum to slam Michael unchallenged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, let CNN know that you think Michael had a point about the pathetic media.
Zeppyfish @ 107:
Rage Boy, where are you? Oh, that's right, another hit n run troll.
110: Your question is a bit of a red herring. Litigation costs are a tiny portion of the bottom line on healthcare costs - the real costs in our system are the hidden costs of paying for indigent care. Look at Texas, where you now cannot sue a doctor for over $250,000 for anything. Since passing that legislation, have healthcare costs in Texas gone down? Have health insurance premiums gone down? Why no; both have increased. Substantially. My employer pays $700 per month PER EMPLOYEE for health insurance.
What limiting legislation does do, however, is enable doctors to actually stay in business in some states. Some southern states have such a foul litigatory climate that OB/Gyns have to relocate to other states where they are afforded some protection. So I am not opposed in principle to PRINCIPLED, carefully considered tort reform but if you think it's a major contributor to our healthcare mess I think you are just plain wrong.
A final question to consider: what increased costs do doctors endure dealing with insurance bureaucracy? How many people inside any medical practice do nothing but process paperwork?
I'd like to know why, in the half dozen or so times I've been or have taken others to the ER, it is always exactly a 4 hour wait.
hadenuf @ 117:
ONLY 4 HOURS? You lucky lucky bastard!
Don't have time to catch up on the comments, so this may already have been said:
It's not just a matter of a statement being wrong. "Fudged" means somebody deliberately distorted the truth. There may be errata in the film, but to call them "fudged" requires a higher burden of proof.

I talked to a right winger yesterday about health care. We agreed it's broken, but he wants to blame it on anyone but who the big culprit is, doctors, lawyers. It's the insurance companies, the drs and lawyers are complicit, but without the insurance their power is gone.
Michael is a hero like Mark Twain, and they hated him too.
Repugs. are born liars with absolutely no conscience. Good luck getting an apology from the head Repug. liars running CNN.
martin springfield @ #115
I did not say litigation was a large contributor to health care costs.
I was asking "how much did it contribute" . As per your example(s) it appears to be a minor contributor, at least in some states.
Former Bush surgeon general says he was muzzled
"Anything that doesn't fit into the political appointees' ideological, theological or political agenda is ignored, marginalized or simply buried," Dr. Richard Carmona, who served as the nation's top doctor from 2002 until 2006, told a House of Representatives committee.
"The problem with this approach is that in public health, as in a democracy, there is nothing worse than ignoring science, or marginalizing the voice of science for reasons driven by changing political winds. The job of surgeon general is to be the doctor of the nation, not the doctor of a political party," Carmona added.

DO YOU WANT FREE HEALTHCARE? HERE'S HOW TO GET IT...
1. Put a sign in the back window of your car that says "UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE GETS MY VOTE". Make 9 more and pass them out to nine friends and ask them to do the same.
2. On the back of each sign write out this sight: www.eff.org/congress/
Instruct people to send an email to their congress person/senator that tells them that if they vote against universal healthcare, they will lose your vote.
You'd be amazed at how few emails it takes to light a fire under elected officials. It's Washington's most tightly held secret.
Healthcare is one problem the American people can fix with very little effort. Don't let Washington and the lobbyist change the subject or use fear tactics to keep us submissively in line. We can fix this problem!
CNN just played a clip of Sanjay Gupta apologizing only for the $25/$251 mistake. Otherwise, I wouldn't count on it, they wouldn't want to bite the hand that feeds them. Fucking scumbags.
BOYCOTT CNN.
As much as I love this site, and agree with their positions and ideas, it's still not a good idea to just read C&L's selective clips as the gospel without doing your own research. As disgusting as the media is, it's important to understand what the rest of the population is being spoon fed so you know how to best present your arguments to them and to understand how they will fire back at you.

I highly recommend calling CNN and politely pointing out the error of their ways.
I did, the only thing that matters more than advertisers is viewers, inform them that if you don't see an apology you will be making an effort not to watch CNN , and tell them that if they apologize on air, that you will be satisfied and remain a viewer.
J. Lebowski @ 31:
Thank you!
Blitzer's lead in said nothing about Moore nor any apology??
Michael Moore is a Hero with little to gain.
CNN is a "business".
Who do you trust?
Keep doing two mega-buck jobs poorly Gupta. When it comes to money, halfass performance is ok for carless self serving pig.
[...] Crooks and Liars [...]
How can ya not love this guy ?
The trolls are out in numbers (corporate shills) on this topic.
Again, thank you site monitor for the filter.
Since Gupta SPOKE the 'fudge' words, it's slander, not libel. But even if Moore sues him for slander, I'm sure there's enough money left in the Scooter Libby Defense Fund to cover his legal expenses.

Great idea. I did it!
Jesse @ 127:
No problem. I could count the things I watch on television on one hand and news isn't one of them.
Anyone remember seeing Michael Moore on Hardball? Love to see Tweety TRY to handle him. I don't think he has the nerve to take him on.
Michael Moore does meticulous documentation of every claim he makes in his movies. Every issue he raises is vetted by legal counsel so as to stand the test of legitimacy in any potential libel or slander suit. That's why he has never been sued - his shit would stand up in civil court. He prepares for that eventuality. If CNN doesn't issue a correction and apology, that's actionable for Moore. He ought to sue the pants off of them, the fucking propagandists.
Islamic Rage Boy @ 102:
The answer is that shouldn't even be something he'd have to consider, but we all do because this system sucks so badly.
And people say there's no such thing as a stupid question.
Oh shit, Moore is going to debate Gupta on Larry King tonight! Get ready for a beatdown, this corporate shill is going down, and on his own network, no less!

You wingnuts have been using this BS to cover the butts of the insurance industry long enough:

Doubtful. I'm just happy to hear some sense get onto the airwaves. Michael aready did that. The more the better. Sooner or later people will push the Koolaid away.
Thank God for Michael Moore - I really miss having a source of real news. I havn't been able to stomach more than a few minutes of any network or cable news for a few years now. If wanted to hear from shills I'd go to the track.
Reckless disregard of the truth = actual malice. Sue the motherf@#kers. That's what you get when you let the insurance industry write your stories.
Are you guys seriously calling Wolf Blitzer a Reich-Winger?? OMFG!! If you guys are suppose to be the norm on the liberal side then the world has definitely gone to hell and hand basket. WOW never thought i would see the day the CNN was called Reich-wing. WOW.
Dear Righteous Ones:
You are stealing from your employers if you are participating in this forum during work. How righteous is that?
BTW, this aggression will not stand, man...
