McCain lost his "maverick" status when bowed to little Bush and allowed traitor Rove to trash his family.
McCain strategy is pretty simple. He's thought the country would want a GWB third term and he'd be the guy to fill that term (sort of like GHWB was elected as a Reagan 3rd term.) He has lined himself up unwaveringly with Bush. Problem he has is that fewer and fewer people want Bush as President even now. Live by the strategy, die by the strategy.
