Captain Ed's YouTube Solution to the Cowardly Republicans
By John Amato Monday Jul 30, 2007 5:57pmI happen to like Ed personally as you guys know, but let's say we differ in our politics ever so slightly... The Republicans are deathly afraid of a YouTube debate. One might say---how could they confront Osama if they can't confront YouTube?...Anyway...via Balloon Juice.
"Captain Ed proposes a solution to the cowardice of the GOP regarding the CNN/YouTube debate"
John Cole does the honor of filling in the questions for the right wing nutosphere...

ROFL. It's wing-nuttery at its finest.
frist.
But, Cap'n, what differentiates the CNN/YouTube debate format from a "W" Townhall meetin'?
Oh, yeah, the former poses questions filtered by a neutral party, the latter are filtered by the candidate hisself- just like yer format.
But that's Cole's point, I guess.
it's worse than it looks vis-a-vis repubbbs being afeared of cats on pianos.
skippy actually took a random look at some of the video questions already submitted to the
upcomingpostponed cnn youtube gop debate, and, while there was the occasional talking hot dog, most of the questions from people were thought-out, pertinent, serious and sober.thus making the gop's fear of cats on pianos seem even sillier. they now publicly look like the technophobe out of touch elitists afraid of actually interfacing with real american citizens that they are.
What would make anybody think the GOP wants to confront Al Quieda or Ossama Bin Laden? They would like other people to but only to the extent that it would make them more money. If cowards who are afraid of work, service to their country, ideas, innovation and people who are not as well off as they are had a political party in the US they would call it the GOP (Grand Old Party) or the Republican Party for short. When they get angry do they go out and confront their enemies? Hell no! They attempt to frighten and anger other people to do it for them. Thus people run off and join the military or assinate judges or doctors who provide abortions and they sip martinis and count their cash and stock options. The last thing on earth these people want is real questions being asked by real people. The truth, the facts, reality in general is the only thing that can ever bring these selfish robber barrons down and they know it. Spin? Hell, yeah they want spin. There is no way they will ever allow the simple facts on the ground to cloud their "thinking."
The bottom line is people will either oust the Republicans by a landslide in 08 or they won't.
Just remember, you have to get up out of your chair, leave the computer for a couple hours, and go poke a probe through some paper ballets or touch a screen.
Problem with this proposal is that it assumes that CNN is liberal-biased, rather than fact based (though still lame). If CNN accepts this proposal they'll be harpooning their neutral journalistic stance, such that it is.
This is not a case of [dems not going of fox] = [repubs not going on cnn] Because Fox and CNN do not represent equal yet opposing sides of the spectrum. Fox is slanted heavily right. CNN attempts to be mainstream. IF being mainstream seems to be anti-republican, that is only because the republicans have done such a bad job.
this is like when they said Dems were scared of fox news.
Seriously. Whats wrong with these people. Are they hypnotized or something?

The Republicans are afraid of the youtube debates because they are afraid of addressing issues which they don't have a prepared party response for like they do for the war in Iraq and terrorism. I would love to see a Republican actually answer questions about why aren't we addressing root causes of terrorism and instability in the Middle East, like poverty and inequality, and instead throwing money away in an un-winnable war. They will do anything to avoid questions like these and to prevent wide reaching public involvement in the election process.
Andie @ 10:
Afraid of the YouTube debate format?
More like, they recognize just how dumbed down and juvenile it is.
The YouTube debate format was probably "invented" by Sean Hannity or Glenn Beck, or some other guy who is sleeping with Rupert Murdoch.
I say let Captain Spaulding be the moderator of the GOP debates. They're all going to hell anyway.
They can be told and they are being told! Every penny counts to these mega corps. If 1,000,000 shop somewhere else once or 500,000 do it twice they will notice. Believe me. They look at the register analyzer every which way and they will be able to tell. Especially when they are told it is happening and their shareholders know about it. Ma and Pa Kettle will let them know. Joe Sixpack and Betty Winebox will be loud and clear!!
Sorry for that post above at #13
They are afraid of real questions from real people who want real answers. They are toast!
They are afraid of the questions their wingnut followers would ask. Hell, they're afraid of even being seen with them.
It's like a high school kid who's mom drives him to school in her robe and curlers. He'd rather walk, even if it's pouring rain.
I have a question for the repug inmates........"Would you go on a hunting trip with..DICK Cheeeney
but for the topic ....this must scare the shit right out of them......Bu Bu Bu Bu.....I can't remember......ummm....well maybe......uhhhh I don't know......this debate(more like a Q and A)will be fun to watch.Just to see them lie, twitch and over all look like liars.
It'd be interesting to hear ... "are there any divorce lawyers on this panel?"
Some Republicans are willing to appear at this debate.
Ron Paul, for example.
Please don't paint with too broad a brush.
"One might say—how could they confront Osama if they can’t confront YouTube?…"
well said!
if you can't stop the propoganda, amplify it! Is'nt it interesting how their talking points become abandoned when the inaneness is reflected for what it is? Keep up the good work, perhaps, even the stupid become weary of stupidity, or at least that's what I'm wishing for. I have noticed that my pets do not crap where they sleep, it gives me hope that the lowest of creatures have their limits.
Pound Foolish @ 20:
Yes your right..He is the only one who said he would show for it.....their might be ONE more but I forget it's name..........
Stay in their face big Eddy
I'm amazed that no one's proposed the seemingly spectacularly obvious solution: let youtube members vote on which questions to ask. The videos with the highest rating/most votes/whatever would be played at the debate. If someone with bit more clout than me would write a blog post about this, they might actually get asked questions we (the american people) want to hear them answer.
"the latter are filtered by the candidate hisself"
gee, the most voted on question -- impeachment --was never asked at that sad, youtube "we're hip" non-debate orchestrated by cnn, the dnc and the unimpressive anderson cooper.
"waassssupp?"
mr guliani: how soon will you divorce your wife for your mistress once you are president?
mr. romney: will your 5 sons be going to iraq when you become president, or would you order them not to?
mr. thompson: were you at the purity ball with your wife?
CNN would ask the RNC to throw out 99.9% of all YouTube entries. Since this debate includes people who can't logically differentiate between truth and lies, right and wrong, the bloggers should represent the segment of the electorate who don't give a shit about lying, thieving, murdering thuggery -- primarily Republicants. Independents/centrists can, in the words of the most holy of dark lords, go fuck themselves. The RNC would review all the YouTube entries and narrow them down to these questions:
"How despicable are the loony ultra-left defeatocrat surrender monkies?"
"Isn't the war going well, and shouldn't we imprison all dissenters?"
"Would you accept the honor of running with his high holiness, VP Cheney, on your ticket?"
The order of the questions as well as the answers would be quite irrelevant, since the all seeing, all knowing emperor of the universe, VP Cheney will be the one choosing the president of 2008.
christian @ 25:
If any of the candidates is elected President, what- in January 2009- could that President then do to impeach Bushco?
How many could impeach now?
he Republicans are deathly afraid of a YouTube debate.
I don't see why. It's not as if CNN wouldn't sift through all of the millions of purtinent question to get to the goofball repug videos asking candidates about their feelings on Hilary's boobs or Edwards hair style.
Rollo Tomassi @ 29:
Right on Rollo.
Exactly my thoughts.
Maybe CNN should offer to simply rewind the YouTube questions from the Dem debate and replay them for the Repubs to answer the same silly questions?
We need to be very worried about what we say and do on UTube. It was just brought to my attention that this is one of Rupert Murdocks toys.
They will only allow you 500 letters in your comments, which limits what you can say and I do not like that at all especially in this highly charged climate that people like himself provoke
I take my warm comments back, about the Bancroft family being rich and concerned about this country as they are as sick and greedy as Murdock and the rest of this trash who wants to own, operate and control this country
It is unreal our Congress does not see a problem with this kind of take over and intrusion into our media as this shit.
Next move for this old bastard is the total take over of FCC and I suppose Congress will take the same stand as this is normal to have everything in this country privately owned operated and controlled by anyone with a buck to buy it
