Blackwater to protect Blackwater investigators
By Steve Benen Tuesday Oct 02, 2007 8:33pm
A team of FBI agents is headed to Baghdad to oversee a murder investigation involving Blackwater security. While they’re there, the agents will be protected by … Blackwater security.
When a team of FBI agents lands in Baghdad this week to probe Blackwater security contractors for murder, it will be protected by bodyguards from the very same firm, the Daily News has learned.
Half a dozen FBI criminal investigators based in Washington are scheduled to travel to Iraq to gather evidence and interview witnesses about a Sept. 16 shooting spree that left at least 11 Iraqi civilians dead.
The agents plan to interview witnesses within the relative safety of the fortified Green Zone, but they will be transported outside the compound by Blackwater armored convoys, a source briefed on the FBI mission said.
"What happens when the FBI team decides to go visit the crime scene? Blackwater is going to have to take them there," the senior U.S. official told The News.
What could possibly go wrong?

How can they investigate this. It's 2 weeks since it occurred and the crime scene is heavily contaminated.
Yeah, this will work .... it's like grading your own test results on a SAT test.
We cool ... Yeah ... we cool.
What?
Things are getting crazy:
Secessionists meeting in Tennessee

You know, reading this site is starting to make my head feel like it's going to explode. There is just one piece of bad news after another. I hate feeling so furious yet so helpless. How many letters do we have to write? Can we change things? This hopeless feeling is kind of depressing.
The corruption in our governement is unbelievable. And to stay on topic - like any Iraqi is going to feel safe giving any kind of deposition with Blackwater standing there?
how convenient.
@ALI
Click and [[[Listen]]] http://www.ni4d.us/ ..now if only everyone would do the same are troubles would subside.
Well of course! What better way to demonstrate that every allegation they face couldnt possibly be anything more than conspiratorial nonsense?
After all the propaganda I have witnessed, I ve little alternative but to put considerable stock into every second-guess that comes to mind.

Blackwater and their ilk have literally taken over any type of personal security detail. Anyone above the rank of a grunt is going to be protected by a mercenary.
how is blackwater like o.j.?
It's like John Gotti offering protection to Mafia investigators.
State sponsored terrorists.
call it what it is, and that would be blackwater death squads.
...and when the sheep wanted to inspect the site where the wolves had apparently killed the goat, the wolves gladly agreed to escort the sheep to the scene of the crime ;)
Fox, here's the chicken coop.
if i did it... @ 12:

I don't know HOW is blackwater like o.j.?
Sung to the tune of, well, Black Water ( apologies to the Doobie Brothers)
Well we got us a convoy, she's ready to go
Ol' Halliburton has subbed us this game
Sunnis are jumpin'
And Shias are runnin'
Blackwater keeps rollin' on through just the same
Refrain: Ol' Blackwater keeps on shootin'
Those Baghdadis better keep on runnin' on
Ol Blackwater keeps on shootin'
Those Baghdadis better keep on runnin' on
Ol Blackwater keeps on shootin'
Those Baghdadis better keep on runnin' from me
Yeah keep on shootin on sight
Kill em all, silly mamas
Gonna shoot everything in sight.
And we ain't got no worries
Cause they ain't got no juries at all
If they complain, we don't care
Won't make no difference you see
Just make that phone call to our man uptown
I'd like to see some liberal NGO
Slow us when were cleared to go
We'll be handin bodybags all roun'
Refrain.
Asking the murderer to provide security for the investigation of his murder.
With weapons strapped and glaring at the witnesses.
Right, that'll work out real nice for Blackwater.
And if the FBI finds hard evidence out in the field, who wants to bet the agent will be coming home in a bag?
It's over folks, they don't even care enough to PRETEND they want you to think differently.
We are so fucked.
These poor FBI agents must have pissed someone off to get this assignment.
Every time I hear of Blackwater that Doobie Bros. song runs thru my mind, thanks for the perfect adaptation. My sisters and I saw them in concert and caught a drumstick... I hate the way this stupid mercenary group is infiltrating a perfect song.
the latest is this
blackwater sez they shoot car radiators first
if that doesnt work they shoot to kill
they say today that they shot a guy in the head and his car accelerated toward them
so they openned fire on everyone...
Would you know if your radiator were penetrated in time to not get your head blown off??
If I was an FBI agent on a guided tour of Baghdad by Blackwater troops and they told me to turn right at the next corner I think I'd probably turn left.
I think I've finally got this figured out--we've all wandered into one of those House of Mirrors things. Except I used to be able to find my way out by looking at the floor and it's not working this time.
I wouldn't be surprised if we never hear from these investigators again. Blackwater agents have [allegedly] shot innocent civilians, what might they do to people who are trying to bring them down for their illegal activities?
John Edwards, tonight on Keith O. promised that he would eliminate corporate guns for hire in Iraq... AND he said he would stop combat operations in Iraq.
HE GOES TO THE TOP OF MY LIST!
oh yea... about this "investigation..."
WHAT A BUNCH OF HORSE SHIT!
General Order number 1:
Shoot first, and if anyone asks question, shoot again....
Unfucking believable.
LMFAO!!!
Business as USUAL!
Ali @ 6:
I sometimes feel the same and have to stay away for a day or two. Just shows you how corrupt this government has become. Bush's corrupt FBI and Blackwater, boy we will sure get to the truth on this one! I feel so terrible for the people of Iraq and what this government has done to them. We have to stop them, if we don't we are just as guilty as they are, but how? We tried when we elected this congress and find we elected wolves in sheeps clothing. We thought they were democrats, but they are no different with few exceptions.
Kucinich is the ONLY one running for president on the Democratic ticket who is not one of them. He is ignored by the press and the Democratic party. Rumors are spread that he can't win, they are hoping that people won't bother to vote for him because he "can't win". Vote for him in the primary, once he is the official nominee everyone can back him, that rumor will be moot.
Look at that car! Its comin right for us!!
Might this not be a good time for the US Army to detach some sort of special detail to the FBI unit?
Or does that make too much fucking sense?
Henry? Harry? Russ? Yoo hoo?!!?? Anyone home?
CONFLICT Of Interest!!!!
getalife @ 5:
Good.
Typical reicht winger MO:
Send the team to do an "investigation" the "investigation" will find nothing wrong. Later when someone brings this massacre, the reich winger will make a point to say that it was already "investigated" and the "investigation" came out clean... so it let's stop dwelling about conspiracy theories and move on.. blah, blah, blah.
Rinse, dry, repeat...
When you can manufacture your own reality who needs facts?
@ ECJ and Gravel
Thanks.
Kucinich 08 works for me.
Wy dont they take some underprivilidged kids without medical insurance from the US as human shields? They have low life expectancy anyways.
Huh... so what are the odds that one of the FBI guys will NOT get hit by a "stray bullet"? 1:1000? 1:10000?
The FBI doesn't need protection. Mulder and Scully can take care of themselves.
They've surpassed Orwell. No wonder New England and the South are seceeding.
Onward christian soldiers. Kill a raghead for Christ.
in Bush-world this make perfect nonsense!
Symes @ 21:
Seriously. Ballistics check on any FBI shot in Iraq.
thats like a conflict of.......whats that word?
When Keith says "you did your duty honorably", what a contrast with rush in the background playing golf.
That speaks volumes.
kablooie @ 22:
nah im sure they will be nice little quizzelings for poppa bush!no sweat , the fbi and cia are all on the take!
Just a suggestion....but....why can't we bring our troops home and let Blackwater fight the insurrgents? Why pay two armies when one will do. Seems this would solve a lot of problems. Get our troops home. Let the Blackwater "heroes" do some real fighting. And everyone lived happily ever after. Oh....except for the Iraquis.
Ali @ 6:
No point getting angry over it. USA has broken away from the rest of the world, and then it has broken from itself. Having gone beyond the point of help, its just a matter of waiting for the inevitable.
E Coli conservatism knows no bounds. Erik Prince's mafia can go to Hell
Reminds me,
Did the FBI have the KKK guard them when they investigated Jena?
Honestly, WTF FBI? White-out and erasers suddenly not enough?
Yo, E Rocks! @ 53:
Well, you know it does help when you can erase the witnesses as well.
Even better when you can say you had no hand in the erasure.
Buy your tickets now kids, times a running short.
True.... didn't the Iraqi government say they had video evidence of the crime that prove Black Water employees fired first?
Why isn't that on Youtube? or somewhere else....
I'm more and more glad my wife's a dual citizen (US-Mexico), and regretting that I didn't persue getting my own (US-Germany) when I had the chance.
What the hell do they protection for? Didn't McCain and Holy Schmoe come back and say it is pretty safe over there, at least in some places?
EJG @ 33:
"Blackwater - Whitedeath"
Um, is that even legal? Wouldn't that be considered a conflict of interest?
Where's Karen the lawyer when you need her...?
Wasn't there a military ethics guy that "offed" himself after what he saw Blackwater personnel were doing?
More like "Blackwater - Whitewash"
But then I get another, altogether different creepy feeling:
"Gee, we got to the square, then we heard shots fired and then there was this huge firefight. And wouldn't you know it, but the head of the investigation somehow got shot right through the head. Wow, what are the chances of THAT happening?"
"Anyway, see? We TOLD you it was a dangerous place. Our actions were justified all along."
There will be an overnight demonstration in a campground adjacent to the future terrorist training site in Protreo, CA this weekend.
I meant Protrero. It is organized by local activists via the website for the North County Coalition for Peace and Justice in San Diego
http://www.nccpj.org/
Is there a law anywhere that makes it illegal for the Blackwater mercenaries to kill the FBI agents? Has anybody 'in charge' bothered to find out? Would anybody be surprised if it turns out they are subject to no such law? And if it turns out they aren't, will anybody do anything about it? I'd be willing to bet the answer to all those questions is "no". :(
Hey, the FBI outed the Guantanamo fucks. If the agents survive their security, maybe we'll get real answers.
Keep the guns handy fbi. There is evil in this world.
Oh, the FBI team will be fine, as long as there aren't any Muslims among the team. Blackwater's mission is to kill Muslims as an expression of their Christianity. Erik Prince believes he is a Knights Templar. He belongs to one of the most hard-core fundamentalist Christian groups in the world.
Why does everybody skip over that reality? Blackwater is a corporation charged by a religion to do its ethnic cleansing. Prince and Blackwater kill Muslims because they believe that's what God's work for them in this life is.
Yes it's ugly and its horrible. Yes, its actually unChristian and unAmerican to its rotten core.
No one ever talks about it. They talk about the problem of private contractors in war, and so on.
The truth is Blackwater is put there by religious extremists for the sole purpose of decimating a competing religion.
And sanctified by the Church and the American Government to do so.
It would be VERY refreshing to see more people just come out and call them on it.
I'm shocked.
Just another sign that America is going insane.
Ron @ 1:
I'm so very excited that you're first.
It's always so exciting to see someone is first in a thread. WOW !!! Hang around every second, refresh your screen a lot, watch for new C&L posts and jump in quickly.
Then you could be first so many times that you may win the annual "Get A Life" award.
Don't forget the timely and heroic rescue of the Polish Ambassador, carried out by a Blackwater team, who happened to be The Only Air Response Team In The Area.
It's a battle for public image, and it's going to shake out like most of the corruption around Bushland. It won't matter what they actually did (or didn't do), it'll matter what image shills like FOX Noise can push.
getalife @ 5:
I would be interested to hear their ideas on having a national defense and other parts of the government that serve the entire nation. I'm not sold on the idea but I would not dismiss it out of hand, yet. A New England territory might work, or a Northern and Southern New England cooperative alliance. The possibilities...
2+2=5
This is getting crazy.
A dozen FBI agents are going to Iraq
and they need to be protected by mercenaries.
The FBI have there own guns.
And Gen. Petraeus said or was trying to say that the
Surge is working , and they are making headway.
And the US Federal debt has reached $ 10 trillion.
It seems kinda like imbedding reporters with military units. It's kinda hard to say negative things about the big people with the big guns who are responsible for your safety. You don't wanna irritate those guys. They might be a little late when it comes time to tell you to duck.
I call BS!
Don't drop the soap in the shower!
Sort of like a fox guarding the henhouse, isn't it?
So much for the illusion of national sovereignty, but of course we all know that the Iraqi government invited us and we are not an occupying force. It seems so comforting that our terrorists, sorry that should be security force, can be investigated by the same group that said it cannot investigate prisoners in Guantanamo because the Justice Department has no legal jurisdiction there.
Why oh why am I not surprised?
This is no longer true (if it ever was).

Should consider deleting this article or adding an update to it.
This makes absolutely no sense. When a County Sheriff's vehicle is involved in a wreck, the State Trooppers do the investigation. I think there would be a conflict of interest here. They need to pull some soldiers, army marines whatever to escort the FBI during their Blackwater investigations
This is a joke, right? Why don't they just get some Mafia guys to protect the F.B.I?
Soon to be a series on the CW? Could be more kick-ass than "24"!
Gee, no conflict of interest there.
Enbedded investigators?
Don't ask, don't tell.
Geez, I wonder if any witnesses will fail to come forward or otherwise be intimidated by the presence of Blackwater personnel. Besides, isn't the surge working well enough that armed, well-trained FBI agents can do their jobs without private protection? Seriously, the premiere law enforcement institution in the U.S. requires private security to be safe in Iraq. This is just too absurd so someone must be making it up.
WHAT! the fox guarding the henhouse?... Typical
Ron @ 2:
You say that like the investigation will be anything more than smoke and mirrors. This administration
has proven time and gain that they could care less about the law. What they are after is the APPEARANCE
of due process while continuing to violate whatever laws they like in the name of hubris.
