Steve has an excellent point. It is factual and it is obvious.

Keep on the subject; Bolt'nfromthetruth is neocon hypocritical mouthpiece that is following the talking point of maligning the NIE as directed by the administration.
Repeat after me, General Betrayus, General Betrayus, General Betrayus.
I feel better.

We already lost the consistency fight when Rush Limbaugh attacked the troops, so I'm neither expecting nor hoping for any such resolution (because it would just be a waste of time).

Quite frankly, I think Bolton should be treated like Ann Coulter and her ilk. Let him talk his way into irrelevance and just ignore him. He obviously wants to be fawned over or at the least have someone pay attention to him. The more we make him look futile, the more successful we are.

The reason Bolton doesn't catch flak=Everybody, and I really mean everybody, knows he has ZERO credibility. Only the Dumb Ass media listen to this hack to fill air time. The MSM are the worst stupid people in the worlddddddddddddd.

I so not think there is anything too difficult to understand in any of this. Petraueus was coming from the war zone to pitch a case for continuing the current WH policy/strategy for the war. He was going to testify before Congress. There was something to be gained by trying to set the tone, and MoveOn did that. Bolton is a certified idiot and is soon to become totally insignificant. He is like all of the other mindless right-wing drivel (Bile-O, Hannity, Rove, etc). If you are able to do it, just ignore them.

The Republicans got away smearing a gay general for couple days, so why not follow it up by attacking an entire government organization?

Remember, when Republicans do it, that means it's legal!

What you're all forgetting is that in the run up to the Iraq war, EVERYBODY thought that Iraq had WMDs.

Well, turns out they didn't!

Now, EVERYBODY thinks Iran DOESN'T have a nuke, which means they almost certainly do, right?

Oh right, I got you, as the lowest of the low of human kind, even gay men, the scum that they are, look down on Bolton.
Great point.

/end snark

Well see, it's all about what party you're in. Dems aren't allowed a voice or any criticism. Repubs can say any damned thing they want about any damned thing or person they want. They feel their voice is the only voice that counts.

Because if you are pushing hawkish ideas, it's okay to smear anyone and make any fantastic allegation you want and push your nation into a world-threatening war.

If for any reason you are opposing hawkish ideas, it's okay for anyone to smear you, make unsupported fantastic counter-arguments, and close you out of participating in any debate.

Hawkish = noble, patriotic, unquestionable, okay to lie for war because war is always right.

Non-hawkish = treasonous, cowardly, unworthy of any degree of honesty.

That's bullshit. EVERYBODY didn't think Iraq had WMDs. Hell, I knew they were lying. Shit, tons of people believed they were lying. Scot Ritter knew they were lying.
In fact, if shit-for-brains pushed the war, occupation because he knew most people would KNOW there were no WMDs given a few more weeks of finding out the truth.

Wing-nut criminals such as Bolton only have one point: they are right, and you are wrong. Period.
What else would one ask of criminals?

OUTING A CIA AGENT IN TIME OF WAR IS TREASON AGAINST THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Call Nancy Pelosi @1-202-225-0100 and DEMAND IMPEACHMENT. (perhaps afterward we can arrange for Mr. Bolton to have his very own arrest and trial, as I'm sure his name and actions will come up in IMPEACHMENT PROCCEDINGS.)

This is all so familiar. These guys seems so invested in the idea that Iran is dangerous and must be attacked. It is almost as if they have a plan to attack Iran and they will fix the facts to support this policy. Wierd.

Sure. That I am down with and like to think I already do it (err, where I haven't already been totally fooled and in that case, wouldn't know it). Critical thinking is the ticket.

McDuff's picture

At the heart of all this is the fact that xenophobia and racism play a major role in how the NeoCons pander to their base. These people live in a world they presume evolves around them and around America. And they do a good job at concealing their bigotry and hatred with psudo politically correct statements and excuses.

If Canada had enough oil, they'd find a way to vilify our neighbors to the north. If Australia had enough oil, they'd find a way to vilify them for sounding funny. The darker the perceived enemy, the more support the leaders in power will get when they launch their campaigns of crimes against humanity; Iraq, Vietnam and South America come to mind.

That's the bottom line. Discussing moveon.org or Patrias is a moot point.

McDuff's picture

McDuff: Yes but IMPEACHMENT IS NOT MOOT and once it starts AMERICA will have her first purge as MANY will be caught up in the IMPEACHMENT NET. BTW, have YOU called yet? (1-202-225-0100, DC business hours only, call often, spread it around, tell your friends to call too)

Why the *@%`*#! do the ms media even give "failure asshole" Bolton any air time at all?

Oh yeah, they are owned by the same fat cats who own Bolton. And they can still peddle a bit more fear and hate and seal a few more big weapons contracts etc.

Liar's picture

It's an illusion to believe Bolton's comments on the NIE would somehow defend or insulate Bush from question. Nothing is stopping MoveOn.org from ignoring those who "compel" MoveOn.org to be silent; nor can MoveOn.org explain why it is not questioning Bolton with as much ferocity as it attacks Bush and Petaueus.

"Steve Clemons at The Washington Note wants to know why MoveOn.org shouldn’t attack Petraueus but Bolton can smear entire National Intelligence Establishment? The real issue: Why would anyone at MoveOn.org believe that -- in getting attacked -- that the attackers will believe they are entitled to be judged by any standard they impose on others. There are are two standards: One which the Constitution and rule of law requires; and once with the GOP and DNC ignore, refuse to enforce, or do not defend.

Why shouldn't one group do something; but another group do what it says others cannot do? The same reasons the GOP will impeach; and the DNC refuses to assert power. One will assert power; and the other believes, by not asserting power, the other will play nice. First chance the GOP gets, impeachment will be on the table. No reason for the DNC to believe -- by refusing to assert power -- the GOP will reciprocate. It is foolish for anyone to fight with their hand tied behind their back. But more foolish to ask why others are not tying their hands for them.

Keith Olbermann’s Latest Special Comment

Bush: Pathological liar or idiot-in-chief?
Olbermann: We have either a president who is too dishonest to restrain himself from invoking World War III about Iran at least six weeks after he had to have known that the analogy would be fantastic, irresponsible hyperbole, or we have a president too transcendently stupid not to have asked, at what now appears to have been a series of opportunities to do so, whether the fairy tales he either created or was fed were still even remotely plausible. I find it quite interesting that when Democrats question the motives of Gen. Petraueus they are called to task for it especially on conservative blogs such as Captains Quarters.

Today, at the top of good ol' Captain Ed's blog, Chris Muir the 'conservative' cartoonist calls into question the patriotism of the entire Central Intelligence Agency, and smears said entire agency with preposterous allegations of the Central Intelligence Agency’s “[...] Interests being hostile to the United States."

Captain Ed's cartoonist Mr. Muir outrageously smears the entire Central Intelligence Agency with what amounts to allegations of treason with his cartoon and yet where is the good ol' Captain's and other conservative bloggers outrage?

Let me tell you why the Repugs have been able to do so well the last decade to 15 years. Bolton is a good example. The guy is a total dick, but he's a passionate ideologue. He knows what he thinks about everything. Does he sit and rant on the internet? No way. A guy like that is too valuable. He doesnt even have to get a real job, which might distract him from reading newspapers and getting impassioned all day long and ready to rant on TV. No, the guy is given a "job" - a fellowship at the American Enterprise Institute. So he's paid to sit around and think up conservative thoughts. Gee, you wonder, how can AEI afford to do that? Cuz rich people and corporations give money to AEI to do just that. Where are the liberal/progressive think tanks filled with impassioned democrats? Oh yes, there are a couple, but basically liberals dont have the cold hard cash to pay for this sort of crap. They should work on that. As long as Bolton doesnt ever have to get a real job, he'll continue to rant illogically. As long as he rants illogically, he's have a job with AEI. And Fox news, even CNN and MSNBC, will continue to put him on TV because its less expensive to put a free talking head on TV than to actually investigate and report facts.
