I missed Holy Crap. Welcome back.
the anti-theists are so divisive.
they reject a cartoon version of God that they like to pretend their enemies believe in,
when in reality, almost everyone rejects such a cartoon version of God.
This is a painful and difficult truth for anti-theists to understand,
because they love their hatred and their mockery. It is what the Bush people play off of, to keep us divided.
anti-theists ignore the logical proofs of monotheism by Descartes and Plato,
and they foolishly pretend that their own belief systems are not governed by an ultimate abstraction: the unity.
don't you anti-theists see that you are falling for the bait?
you are just like the rabid theists who dislike the so-called secular left?
don't you understand that the "far right" rejects a cartoon version of liberalism?
in reality, we are all theists, and the oddities of our concepts of unity contribute to beautiful diversity.
Some hate to call the unity "God" because of all the evil done in that name.
But that is no excuse to further divide us.
Yet the anti-theists would rather mock and hate a cartoon version of religiosity,
reveling in their divisiveness and ignorance, ignoring the unity that binds us all.
This blog needs to focus on politics, but so often is dominated by hypocritical religious discrimination.
You people do not understand. Of course all mass-marketed religion is a sham. Of course it is all
just a tool to manipulate the masses. Infact...the anti-theists are more manipulated by Bush's religiosity
than most theists are.
Bush is a christian, and this nation has never been christian. It is a free-mason nation.
Bush is a tantric sexualist Bohemian Grover. If only the anti-theists knew how much they share in common with Bush!
haha, i wish i could have used less divisive language to express that idea.
it is an ignorance we all share. there is no "you people." i should have said, "us people."
meant to say, Bush is not a christian.
It is a purposefully deceptive act, just like everything the son of 001 does.
It's amusing that a British Anglican Bishop is distressed by the increasing growth of atheistic, agnostic influences, which he terms a 'War on Religion'. He pleads that we could all resolve our differences if we were to just sit down and and rationally discuss both sides of the issues.
Small logic error. 'Religious rationality', for that matter, 'religious sanity', is an oxymoron.
Religion is 'based' on figments. Figments cannot be intelligently dissected, except as psychological aberrations,
I guess the PC way of saying Huckabee's full of crap, is saying he's full of Jesus.
I guess the PC way of saying Huckabee's full of crap, is saying that he's infused with the spirit of Jesus.
preacher boob
to say religion is based on figments is quite ignorant.
do you understand the multiple linear regression model?
do you understand the figments and assumptions your own religions is based on?
most anti-theists just believe whatever "science" is preached to them:
without understanding the multiple linear regression model and the assumptions that empirical science is based on.
all understanding is faith mixed with reason.
you obviously do not understand either.
I just read about I-35 being considered a "HOLY ROAD". all I can say is hahahahahahahhahahhahaha. I have never heard of something so absurd. What about all the streets in rome, how about the roads in the state of Israel, and even all the roads in all of the middle east. They have been around since the time of the bible being written, not I-35. Just because some religious whack job "interprets" that I-35 (being a holy road)comes from the book of Isiah does it really make it so? I think not
We have to keep slamming this in their face..."Seperation of church and state"...is there for a very good reason. Thank you founding fathers!.
welcome back!
The War on Christmas is going well in my hometown, the Kinky Kwanzaa parade is in progress.
We have African Americans in blackface, fat white males going topless (which would drive Ashcroft crazy, I wish he had accepted our invitation), nude female models strapped to crosses, sixteen-year-old virgins (both male and female) giving 'birth' to gerbils, bleeding Jews dressed as 'Jesus', wearing crowns of thorns, dancing to the beat of a Roman Drum Corps, a Mormon Choir singing the rock version of 'Holy Mary, Mother of 'God'...', stallions pulling chariots with flashing knives on the wheels, mowing down the crowds of 'Christian' protestors of the Parade, the 'Angel' Moroni being waterboarded in a creche.......well, there's just too much to describe, I'll have to leave you know, put on my Bush life mask, pick up my shovel, and get back behind the naked elephants.
The theme of torture arises here as much as anywhere. Whether blogs, print media, radio or television the same well crafted arguments are made.
What is or isn't torture. Should we be allowed to torture while condemning others for it. What circumstances may call for torture.
But what about the most basic of questions about the subject?
When is it okay to torture the innocent?
At what point will the torturers and their apologists be forced to answer for the torture of innocents? No one can reasonably argue that every person detained and tortured were guilty of any crime. Yet they have ability to seek redress for their legitimate grievance.
The people torturing them only have to claim that the torture itself is a national security secret to avoid even a day in court.
Who will stand up and defend the President's right to torture men and women who have committed no crime?
I love the patient, condescending tone, of Craig's original epistle. Wonder if you understand the difference between the religion of Christ and a set of superstitions without any redeeming spiritual qualities? Of course Bush is a phony. That many self-proclaimed Christians were unable to discern that glaring reality (look at his policies people!) merely illustrates the level of their delusion. The exposure of hateful and divisive belief systems, which parade around the public square demanding to be taken seriously in our public discourse, isn't hatred. The truth will set you free, but first it'll probably piss ya off.
Rudy in an elegant fascist garb. Conservatives are starting to throw their 9-11 hero under the bus.
Very read from American Conservative link
Very interesting read, that is.
Hey there is money to be made in that I-35 nonsense. I think Larry McMurtry recently wrote a book (Roads) about I-35.
I do not believe his interest was overtly religious however.
If you are going to run a tour bus up and down I-35 for hours,days,etc.......make sure you bring dvds for the uninspired.
Craig, Mickey Finn @ 13 has already covered the subject well already, but your straw man characterization can’t help but make me think of the two Blogswarms Against Theocracy within the past year or so (and thanks again to Blue Gal for being the leading organizing force). Hundreds of bloggers have participated, and that’s included both those of faith and non-believers. The common cause has been the First Amendment, and the freedom to worship, or not. Opposing religious authoritarians and theocrats is just sticking up for the Constitution. It’s not as if non-believers are storming churches and other places of worship to disrupt them, or trying to pass laws to shut them down.
The “anti-theists” (not sure I’ve ever met one) share more in common with Bush than theists? Please. Similarly, accusing C&L of being anti-religion in any way is just laughable.
Also, thanks very much, Mike, for the link, and being included in such fine company...
craig @ 8:
I'd like to reply....Oops, I misplaced my Krafft-Ebing 'Analysis of the Really Far-Out, Non-Standard Statistical Deviation by Kooks Who Mis-Apply the Concept of the Multiple Linear Regression Model for Figment Analysis When it Should be Restricted to Comparison of Existing, Actual Entities Expressible in Mathematical Form'. I'll have to get back to you later, Kook..er, Chris.
craig @ 2:
yeah, right. tantric lover.
more like expedient auto-sexual, if the wood even visits him in the morning anymore.
I guess it's a free country, so we can't do anything about it, so I guess the intelligent approach is to just relax and either ignore, or read and laugh at, Huckabee posting as 'Craig'.
Preacher Boob @ 22:
does anyone have verifiable evidence indicating dingleberry huckabee even knows how to turn on one of these dog-gone computers?
and, gosh, do you think he's ever dipped his toes in the internets?
"Isaiah 35:8 reads: "And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not journey on it; it will be for those who walk in that Way; wicked fools will not go about on it."
Its amazing what these fundies will see in one Bible passage. Its also funny just how many people will believe just about anything a Pastor/Priest says. What a bunch of nutjobs. Heck, I'll this theory one step further. I don't see just I-35 in there. I see I-35 mile marker 8.
Joe O. @ 24:
Is it just coincidence that route Isaiah-35 runs through Jackson County Missouri? Where faithful Mormons believe the New Jerusalem will be built where the Garden of Eden once existed.
Coincidence??? Let us consult from the book of Mitt to find out.............on second thought he will just blame Huckabooboo for being apposed to Federal highway subsidies.the National Religious Campaign Against Torture site is great
I'm joining the National Torture Campaign Against Religion.
It's even more fun, prodding those pedophilic priests with cattle prods.
Wouldn't you know it!
Bereft of imagination, slaves to imitation, one of the Far Right blogs has started a feature called 'UnHoly Crap'.
I guess some of us secular atheists will have to stop by and bless their crap.
