Countdown: Bill O'Reilly Puppet Theatre

icon Download | play icon Download | play (h/t Heather)

The minute footage of Bill O'Reilly getting physical with the bodyguard at the Barack Obama event came to us this past weekend, I knew that Keith Olbermann would have a field day with it. And so he does. See if you can't watch this without picturing Billo's head just ready to explode. I predict another hilarious Talking Points Memo on the Factor talking about those evil forces at NBC is being formulated right now...

Classic Keith. Keith's show is the only one that will show the unvarnished truth. No corporate spin no overtly so-called moralistic views. It is quite refreshing. Dan Abrams is also getting good press for his Bush League Justice series. Way to go NBC!

God, can you imagine BillO's reaction if they had tazed him? He's the essence of creep.

I'm in such a rotten mood this morning I didn't think anything could make me laugh, but that did. Thanks :)

The best part of the clip is Obermann's impression of O'Reilly. SPOT ON!

It is just amazing to watch Bill O's out of control ego in action. Comedy writers could not come up with some of the crap O'Reilly spews. "Defending the Constitution"? "Far-left street cred"? Where does he get this stuff? I'm positive the Obama campaign's biggest concern is a lack of "far-left street cred". That's why they sent in their big guy to block the Fox camera crew shot...on purpose! I look forward to the day whrn Obama goes on the Factor and kicks Bill O's butt!

I cant believe people actually think that is funny. Are you the only 11 people that watch MSNBC and whatever that guys name is. What is even worse is that AOL has a link to this pathetic site.

Obama would be smart to go on Oreily. First it would differentiate him from the rest of the pathetic crowd of dems. Second it would show that he either can or can't answer difficult questions. It is only a win for him if he goes on. Even the people who for some reason hate Oreily should be able to see that. Oreily has a huge audience, unlike this other guy making this weird video.

O'Reilly appeals to the senior citizens that live in a medicated haze. The same crowd that watches TV evangelists for hours on end. When I was in college, my friends and I occasionally self medicated and watched Dr. Gene Scott. When he starts making sense, it's time to put the medication away.

I just looked at O'Reilly's own clip that clearly shows Bully touching, pushing and cursing the Obama security guy. The security guy stayed cool but, man, he should have decked O'Reilly. He should have been hauled out of there for threatening a presidential candidate and it would have been warrented.

I turned to Billo last night, curious to know how he'd deal with this incident. I tuned in just as he was showing the clip. It looked like he showed it all. I didn't bother sticking around to find out what he had to actually say about it though.

Once again, just because he has a large audience dosen't mean you go on a show that spews lies and smears the guests. It is an obvious set up for Bill O' to get Obama on his show to exploit, abuse, spin and suker-punch Barack.
There are many other reasons "reasonable people" dislike (hate if you must) O'Reilly. There are plenty other "journalists" that can give Barack tough questions, he does not need to go on Faux News for that. Keep drinking your cool aid dude.

Its not that Obama cannot answer tough questions from Fox or anyone else for that matter. The truth of the matter is that Fox questions are not tough in the least- it's that they are framed in such a biased, partisan way as to trap subjects into silly, childish yes or no answers, where, afterwards, Fox can do what they will with the nuanced explanantion that follows the question. That allows Fox to control the situation and control the spin. Thus, it's neither a transparent interview, nor is it journalsim, but rather biased, sabotage with an agenda. To appear is to lend credibility to Fox as a trsansparent new organization- and it's not.

It helps, when you're bowing and scraping like the other idolators that worship at Temple Bill-O, that you learn to spell your idol's name. O'Reilly. We can only imagine that you refer to Keith Olbermann as 'that other guy,' because you can neither manage to spell 'Keith' or 'Olbermann'.

What Mr. O'Reilly lacks, and what you fail to understand, is that his cheap, bully pulpit demagoguery is not about guests 'answering tough questions,' but getting put through a grinder to support Bill's talking points. Much like he thinks the world should step aside in recognition of his greatness.

Oh, wait, you're probably incapable of processing even a simple argument, since you can't spell, and your idol can't tell the difference between a loofah and a dish of falafel.

bill'o's poisonous influence has been waning for years now, and he feels it. he knows that the shadows are growing taller on his hissy-fit-based career as a serial asshole, liar and all-around namby pamby. he can feel it in his loofa arm, and he can sense it in his reptilian brain.

i think the whole faux empire is teetering. and, i predict, we will soon see the unveiling of fauxNoise2.0. murdoch sides with whoever can make murdoch money or further his ego(remember the hillary fundraiser). with republicans chasing sean 'wiiiiiiilma' hannity down the street and more and more people (Ms. Moderati aside) waking up to the fact that faux noise is NOT news but state-sponsored propaganda, that uses fear and division to control, people are deciding that they were preferred to be informed instead of brainwashed. which spells trouble for faux noise.

Kevin Holsinger's picture

The irony here is that, if Mr. O'Reilly had kept his mouth shut and his hands by his sides, he might have won this little battle with the Obama campaign by focusing all the attention on the man blocking his shot.

Luckily for Mr. Olbermann and us, Mr. O'Reilly didn't play it smart.

And Mr. Obama should only go on The O'Reilly Factor if, before the interview, The O'Reilly Factor is forced to show Mr. Greenwald's new video.

Mary's picture

I saw the episode and feel that OReilly was justified to be angry.
The only ones who do not show anger are the Candidates.
I also think if these running candidates want to earn the respect of the Amerixcan paople, including ME, they should stop avoiding the soft ball interviews, and go on a show that will actually ask the hard questions.

Obama doesn't have to follow his orders. BillO hasn't earned Obama's respect. There are no laws that say that Obama must give him the time of day.

Reich-wingers seriously have no concept of a "hard questions" or "tough questions". Faux twits do not ask "hard questions" or "tough questions"; they ask insulting, vile, leading, and juvenile questions. They use circular "logic" and have no desire to have a serious interview. Faux twits do not ask "hard questions" or "tough questions"; they ask insulting, vile, leading, and juvenile questions. They use circular "logic" and have no desire to have a serious interview. They only attempt to make Democrats look bad while pampering their reich-wing masters.

Faux interviews Republicans the same way my two year old Catahoula Leopard dog interviews guests. She shoves her nose right in their crotch.

I saw the episode and feel that OReilly was justified to be angry.

O'Reilly is angry 24/7. That's is nothing new. O'Reilly isn't justified putting his clammy, blotchy hands on anyone....ever. He's a typical reich-winger....he couldn't get is way so he gets angry, violent, and unhinged. And, of course, only a reich-wing could possibly call this a "Freedom of Press" issue.

Nuts!'s picture

hating bill 0 and anyone else in the right-wing wurlitzer is a waste of time - they are endemic of other things - as has been said they are difficult to caricature because they are caricatures. From some corny movie script it often seems.
I think the language we use has to change - we have to stop calling these people racists and homophobes and misogynists. These are polite ways of saying idiotic, ignorant and hateful. We should still be polite but we should stop lending sociological creedence to their pathologies with names they probably like being called.
Stop calling these paid demagogues names that they like - they are promoting ignorance mean-spiritedness and kinds of unfairness that America is supposed to stand against - that's worth standing up to in language that is not couched. And swearing becomes redundant - so does seething anger - it's in the words. Bill O'reilly feeds on ignorance, fear, hatefulness and a false patriotism of words not actions.
bush's brain understood better than anyone the meaning of the phrase "he who defines the terms wins the argument." Lee Atwater was pretty good too - that's how Liberals lost liberal - it used to mean fair, open-minded and generous - now I think it means weak-kneed supporter of commies pinkos and welfare moms

He panders to the lowest elements in society.

Yes we are.

But more Texans are turning to the light. They've had enough of the Republicans.

I think the people of our State have largely been ignorant of politics, but the Bush administration has impacted their lives in so many ways that they're getting their noses rubbed in the ramifications. With milk approaching $4/gal, and SUVs costing more than $60 a fill up, they are getting angry.

Now they dislike both parties.

I think the Dems are going to win big in the next election, but we're so far gone that the crash will continue no matter what they do. And since there is no way the war will end, the Repubs may get another chance in 2012.

Any other scenario pretty much means the same to me. So I'm working off debt and trying to get my economic footprint as small as possible. Money is tight, but I'm doing what I can to turn my suburban lot into a hobby farm. I even have chickens.

I firmly believe that the US is about to go through it's own Perestroika, without a recovery on the way.

I'm sorry, I feel the pinch too, but I just gotta say, it took a long time for milk to reach $4 a gallon and for gas to get so expensive. Where was everyone when the milk lobbyist were forcing their tainted puss filled milk down our throats? Why don't people pay any attention to laws and legislation until it's too late? How can people not realize it's going to come back to bite them in the ass? You all drink milk, right? Everyone needs gas and oil to power machines to make food etc etc. It's not like this crept up on anybody. It really is not.

When trying to help get a co-op together for a time (It's up, but is still long distance for me), I got to meet a lot of local farmers. They were more aware of current issues and Peak Oil than almost anyone else I've met.

I think the farmer mentality is fundamentally different than it is for most city or suburban folks. A farmer must be on the look at for trouble and be ready for it, or he loses the farm.

Where most people think paycheck to paycheck, a farmer thinks of the whole year round.

Most folks expect things to be good all the time and are surprised when they turn bad, and I think farmers expect bad times and are glad when things go well.

I remember a few of the old timers in the country when I was a kid, could bum out any sunny day. "Yeah the weather's nice, but we need rain. Yeah the rain is nice, but we need some sun. I shore hope the North field don't washout agin..."

My grandfather had a hobby farm of about 3-8acres depending on the lease at the time. He could help but stockpile food after living through the depression. I grew up helping with it. And when I can I've gardened on a small scale ever since. I think it has molded my attitude through life.

Good for you to be a farmer. I wonder if petrochemical farming will be more expensive than organic some day. I'm in New York and we have lots of organic farms locally these days. They have cut petrochemicals out of their food chain as much as possible; no chem fertilizers, pest control, etc. Still they use electricity to process and vehicles to transport. Some are Mennonite and Amish who have no petrochemical consumption whatsoever (except some contract with a truck to bring their product to market), and sell locally. BTW, gas is $2.30 for regular, and $2.70 for diesel.

Well Mr. Weaseldog it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance and shake your hand even if it's a virtual handshake. I'm sitting up here in the midst of a good snow squall typing away on my solar powered laptop. Sounds like you and I had similar values instilled during our childhoods. My family is trying to help our urban families and friends to understand how important it is that they grow some food, store some food, water and essentials and in general take back a little control over their lives. Some are getting it, some aren't. My wife teaches knitting and sewing and mending. We do what we can to help but ultimately everyone needs to decide what they're going to do.

I would encourage all Crooks and Liars affectionados to look into ways they can take responsibility for their own wellbeing and that of their families. Being a victim sucks, just ask folks that have needed to depend on the Federal government lately.

Finally, a segment that treats O'Reilly with the dignity he deserves!

General Jack D. Ripper's picture

I watch O'Reilly fairly often, although KO is a lot more funny and covers stories that I like to learn about. I do not like O'Reilly, but I do watch him periodically to see what hate and lies he is spewing. I read blogs like Crooks and Liars, but I also some times look at blogs from Michelle Malkin and other right wing nuts.

The problem with Fox is that they are so blatantly partisan, so blatantly conservative, so blatantly republican cheerleaders. This goes all the way from their morning show "Fox and Friends" to John Gibson (obnoxious, far right loon), to BillO, to Sean Hannity (not to mention the fact that Alan Colmes is no far left winger to contrast Hannity's far right lunacy), to Brit Hume.

Yes, NBC (MSNBC) may have a couple of partisans in their programming, but most of the programming is not partisan....and in most cases, it is not nearly close to the partisanship showed by FNC.

Hosts on "Fox and Friends" (and other Fox shows) have smeared Obama with that Madrasa crap. They have smeared him by smearing the church he belongs to in Chicago. It is no secret that Hannity hates the Clintons, and, again, Colmes doesn't show any hatred at all against anyone, including conservative Republicans.

FNC often has far right loons like Ann Coulter spew their hateful venom and in fact help promote these people's point of view and books. Certain people on FNC defend the likes of not only Ann Coulter, but Michelle Malkin, Rush Limbaugh, and other well know far right conservatives. FNC is run by Roger Ailes, a known Republican supporter who has been a consultant for Nixon, Reagan, and Bush senior.

Further, FNC has the gall to claim they are "fair and balanced," but no one in their right mind would truly believe this. To be sure, there are some on Fox who may be "fair and balanced," and I would put the likes of Greta van Susteren and Shepherd Smith in there, but the overwhelming majority of programs on that channel lean far right. If FNC were so "fair and balanced," why did they have a right wing "comedy" show (Half hour News Hours) and not have a corresponding liberally tilted comedy show?

Ms. Moderati claims that CNN, MSNBC, NBC, and CBS, "just to name a few" bash moderates and conservatives, but I just don't see them doing this (except perhaps a couple of shows on MSNBC). In the words of Bill O'Reilly, some must be "drinking the kool-aid," taking talking points from those right wing shows, like BillO's, if they really believe that these few other stations bash moderates and conservatives anywhere near the extent that FNC bashes liberals or Democrats.

P.S. Glenn Beck, by the way, is a really, really awful person.....and, by the way, he is also an example, along with Joe Scarborough and Tucker Carlson, of people who are known conservatives on those so-called liberal channels.

Ms. Moderati @ 31:

Why is it that 'your branch' of the media just doesn't care to comment on talk-shows that bash Moderates or Conservatives.? You've got CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, just to name a few PLUS your "Tee-Hee-ha-ha blog/magazine"! Juvenile.....really. Try to name one media other than FOX, that gives another point of view. The closest I can see is Comedy Central, who bashes EVERYONE (as it should be) and Glenn Beck on Primetime News....9 PM EST.
