Remember the U.S. Attorney purge scandal?

The scandal that forced an Attorney General to resign in disgrace hasn't generated too much attention lately, but it's still lingering.

The federal investigation into the firing of nine U.S. attorneys could jolt the political landscape ahead of the November elections, according to several people close to the inquiry.

Washington’s attention has been diverted from the scandal since the August resignation of Alberto Gonzales as attorney general, and has focused instead on Democrats’ efforts to hold White House officials in contempt for ignoring congressional subpoenas to testify on Capitol Hill about the firings.

But recent behind-the-scenes activity in several investigations suggests that the issue that roiled Congress in 2007 could re-emerge in the heat of the election year. Two inquiries by the House and Senate ethics committees are examining whether several congressional Republicans, including one running for the Senate this year, improperly interfered with investigations.

So many Republican scandals, so few indictments....

Quick Summary:

The dept of Justice - Bushevik'ed, only non-qualified true believers allowed to keep jobs.

They are to only prosecute & investigate Democratic candidates, Republicans can do no evil.

The qualified, highly decorated U.S. attorneys were fired because they didn't 'play ball' with the extreme partisan attack apparatus of the GOP....simple as that.

Fired for no reason other than they didn't want any part of obstructing justice.

That's GOP/Republican 'run' government for you.....why do they run for office if they don't believe in the institution to begin with??? Yep, exactly....to make the country a corporatocracy.

That's what happens when the crooks are the "police" and "judge" for the crooks.
I'm not distinguishing between Dems and Repubs for that though.

It is absolutely disgusting when you really look at what this administration has gotten away with. I mean the number of laws that have been blatenly disregarded is really unpreceented, at least in the sense that they haven't gotten in a lick of real trouble. Can you imagine what the Republicans would have done if Clinton was in charge of this purge. Oh my god, it would be the end of the world. I guess all you can do is shake your head and wait until November 2nd.

I can hear it now.

"They're just playing politics! This is just election year posturing! This is a non-issue meant to make republicans look bad! Now, let me tell you about how you are threatened by dudes kissing."

I can't imagine why anyone called to testify before the Congress in
reference to Attorney/Gate or any other fiasco of this administration
would hesitate to do so .

The stay out of jail card is an automatic given in the New World Order !

If it were not so , the federal government would have to initiate a prison
building program to make room for all the witnesses who struggle to even
remember their name .

"... improperly interfered with investigations."

Wouldn't that include the entire bush administration, and bush too?

The fed cut a key interest rate by three-quarters of a percentage point today. They are trying to stop the bleeding that is most likely going to happen today in the market. It may be too late and to me it shows their panic and desperation.

Reslugs like to say "Government doesn't work". The problem with that is they're leaving out the last part of the statement...
"Government doesn't work.... when reslugs are involved." There. Now it makes perfect sense.

Reslug scandals never die... they just fade into the background while another takes it's place.

Not that it matters. It seems all the reslugs have to do is ignore it and it goes away.

I remember Orrin Hatch doing a Baghdad Bob on Gonzales being such a great and honest guy.

"He's a man of integrity, decency, honor," Senator Orrin G. Hatch, Republican of Utah, said. "He's a person who I think answered the questions as well as he could before the committee, and showed extreme intelligence as he did so. You may not agree with Judge Gonzales, but, my gosh, this man is an honorable, decent person who deserves to be confirmed." -- NY Times

Why'd he get re-elected in '06?

What you all have said here is true.

Will we get to this or the bottom of any other problem caused by the RePUGs. I don't think we will especially get to the problem before this God-awful term will be up.

I really think that are in it for the money and to have us believe that now government will not work when when you, Diebold, or who ever elected those jerk-hoffs in office.

I hope, that they don't have enough true believers still in place that we can get through the one year, without martial law.

When they pledge allegiance to George Bush , see Montica Goodling, they are guaranteed the power of the pardon. First question in the investigation ,under oath, is did you pledge allegiance to George Bush?

I sincerely hope that some scholar will write a comprehensive comparison between this so called "administration" and the nazi's of 30's and 40's Germany.
I suspect the only major difference they will discover is that the nazi's didn't have as many scandals as the reslugs.

One difference is that the Republicans don't wear uniforms, unless of course one considers a Brooks Brothers suit and a flag lapel pin a uniform. Other than that the similarities are stunning. Americans need to wake up to the fact that there is a traitorous fifth column amongst the nation. Cronyism and corruption where hall marks of the Third Reich along with their blind adherence to an ideology.

Sorry, but, at best these records will go into the "The Pet Goat" Wing of the Arbusto Library. Hear the paper being shredded? Perhaps someone will peice it together the way the Iranians did our documents. If the shrub wasn't so anti-enviornment he'd use goats. I'd like to see someone reconstitude documents out of goat shit.

What will come out on this via the pissed off fired US Attorneys this year? They know a lot more than we've yet heard publically, & are fed up with Congressional foot dragging.

Ready to spill even more than the tidbits in The Hill article imo.
