Dan Abrams and panel David Shuster, Joan Walsh from Salon.com and Republican strategist Jack Burkman (why is he still getting gigs?) look over some of the misstatements, exaggerations and flat out blunders from the GOP Debate.

Who does Abrams think he is, checking up on the master debaters? He's not their mom.

Hey seriously,

Wasn't the Dem debate really great last night? The only problem I have is that I am torn; who do I vote for?

Even though Kucinich and Edwards are out, we still have a very, very nice problem.

I love Dan Abrams, and he is at his best when he is obviously gushing over Stephanie Miller. Ha ha, on a serious note though Abrams has done a incredible job over the past months in holding not only the GOP but president Bush accountable. His "Bush League Justice" series was so informative that I found myself disliking Dubya even more then I previously had, which is saying a lot. I did not catch this but another mis stated fact from the GOP debate was made by Ron Paul when he said:

"Ron Paul repeated his claim that defending the U.S. "empire" is costing "a trillion dollars a year." But the dubious figure includes costs such as the entire Veterans Affairs budget. Paul also claimed "nobody" is talking about cutting spending, even as his rivals did so 14 times during the same debate."

Other then that I do believe they covered all the bases, which when dealing with a GOP primary isn't the easiest thing to do, that is fact checking the truth.

No but he is a figure in the media keeping the candidates responsible. I have a feeling though you may have been saying that sarcastically and now I end up looking like the foolish one.

Just guessing, Obama will probably swing more independent/low-info voters in the general.

Freakshow propanda.

Those graphics are dispicable sheep herding tools.

Where is Dr. Paul in anyone's teevee coverage?

Mm. Yeah, it is all rather up in the air at the mo'. I am leaning toward Hillary, though the idea of breaking up the Bush/Clinton dynasty is attractive as well. But is that an emotional or practical issue?

Priority 1. Get the rethugs out.
Priority 2. Get the most progressive candidates possible in.

Lather, rinse, repeat...

The Repubs are in deep doo-doo and they know it. Watch and observe the coming "suicide bomber" acts by the Republicans and their many media whores. I don't care how many polls the MSM pulls out of it's collective asses, Obama or Hillary will trounce any of these weak, tired old men. Special request: I hope the new Dem Prez will appoint an angry black woman with a very bad attitude on the Supreme court to keep an eye and counter Uncle Clarence.

It turns out Della Reese is still hangin' in there. I don't know about her politics, but I have a feeling that she could get her way.

Can I have that job?

It's real easy, and the pay's probably good just for fact-checking people who don't know a fact from a fart.

Blue Lensman's picture

Leaders don't let little things like facts get in the way!

JTM's picture

It's a "fact check," but includes two blunders by Romney and one refusal to answer the question by McCain, as well as the two lies by McCain. In other words, there were only two items (out of five) that needed correction and they were both by McCain.

If Fox had done a "fact check" piece on Democrats and three of the five items were not factual errors, how would you react?

Thought so.

Hack.

Interesting hypothesis... I can't help but laugh. You used "FOX" and "'fact check'" in the same sentence. That's really, really funny.

The Great Debate moderated by ' Wolf the Impaler ' ..............

Questioning Hillary on her initial position and vote for The War of Enduring Freedom .............. he asked if she now thinks she was
naive on the issue .

After Hillary check-mated Wolfowitz on the jab , he went to Obama
with the same question , Hillary quickly made short work of that tack
also , stating it was her ' question ' to answer .

Final score ............ Hillary & Obama in a draw and Wolfowitz with a knockdown by Hillary the Hammer !

I said "please." And I'm done with my day-job for the week. It's your choice. In other words: drink, horsie, drink."

More generally, if you're wondering why I care if a leftie is playing O'Reilly games (especially in light of my own left leanings), then the easiest answer is here: linky Note how Stewart never said anything partisan; he attacked hackery of all sorts.

To paraphrase: Dan Abrams is no Jon Stewart.

casper46's picture

Hast to say it but, St. McCian is freaking senile. Oh wait, I don't hate saying it. Sorry for the confusion.

Geno's picture

Obama's claim that Hillary made a HUGE mistake in her resolution vote would carry more weight if he himself had ACTUALLY HAD TO CAST A VOTE. (Hindsight...??)

I'm amazed at how the press ignores this fact, constantly jumping all over Hillary for how she cast her vote. (Wolfie)

Also: Had we gone in and actually found WMD or they had been used on out soldiers, what would Obama's message be today?

"I wish I had an opportunity to vote with Hillary?"

Nick's picture

Wow - people like Dan Abrams?

I've only seen parts of what I felt were strong Clinton defense pieces from him, and I got really turned off.
People seem to have positive feelings about his work though, so maybe I'll give him another chance.

Cheers.

McCain won't vote for his own bill.

The more I watch of McCain the more I think he's borderline insane.

The perfect person to represent the GOP.

langx's picture

Nick: I believe Dan is a Lawyer. He did an exceptional series on what Bush has done to the justice dept and some of the other laws he has broken..

You could build the criminal case off of his series.

Unlike Olberman , Abrams will bring on the other side to argue a point.

It may be that no person with a different view "GOP" would dare appear on Olberman's show.

Kind of hard to fight facts with distortions of the truth.

Save Our Troops's picture

Dan Abrams threatened Tucker Carlson for talking too much and too favorably about Ron Paul.

He also threatened Pat Buchanan, telling him not to talk too much about him or he wouldn't be a MSNBC contributor anymore.

Pifuf's picture

Romney did mean withdrawal quite clearly to me.
What else could he have meant when he said that the reason timetables should be classified secret (not public),
was to not let the enemy know how long they had to wait "in the weeds" till you are gone. Gone as in leaving, withdrawing.
He didn't talk about excluding withdrawal as a consequence, but rather keeping that information from the enemy. Am I wrong?

This was a game of whos the biggest liar? And these guys were surprised? Where the fuck were they for the last 7 years?!?!

Why is enumerating an infinitude of lies, called 'Fact-Checking'?

uppity kitty's picture

Perhaps the Republicans candidates will peck each other to death.
McCain's wrinkled waddle was very disturbing, oh and plus, he is filled with hate and older than dirt.

The Dem nominee will have to be just as nasty and hateful during the general election. Women are pretty good at that, just saying.

A classic tool in every sense of the word. ya got to figure out that that guy is used only because he is cheaper than others and he is so out front as a RePUG bimbo.

Dan-A is the next Best thing to Keith-O on MSNBC ; as long as there ain't no missing white girls somewhere in the world , that is .

If he would only punt Pucker 'CYA' Carlson and replace him with Rachel Maddow , , ,

HHHmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'd probably comment, but it's hard to say because the WMP links don't work so I have nothing to comment on.

McCain wins the Repug nod by a country mile.
Anyone who can lie so poorly, so consistantly, is the perfect Repug candidate.
I can hardly wait to watch Obama make him choke on the neo-con bullshit spewing from his mouth.

Hey, I'm not sure you or anybody else has heard...don't let it get out, but...APPARENTLY...John McCain was foot soldier in the Reagan revolution.

Pulling out the old Rovian misrepresentations. I hope the old fool gets hammered.

It was as though Huckabee and Paul were not there. Guess they didn't make any blunders, then, but still no mention. Dan Abrams is a tool. A zionist tool. Don't even try and compare him to Olbermann.
