I don't expect to change anyone's opinion about him but, might we be willing to at least consider what James Ridgeway the Villiage Voice asked people to consider 4 years ago.

Eight years ago, according to a study by Solon Simmons, Al Gore's poll numbers went UP when he started taking on Nader's issues. In other words, Nader gave Gore votes.

Four years ago, Ralph got exactly the same votes from both parties: Democrat (37%)/Republican (37%).

And this year, I think Obama needs to be taken down a bit by a real progressive. He's high on marshmallow fluff right now. It's easy to look like a hero next to a corporate Dem like Hillary. I'm interested to see what he'll become when he has to answer to real reform. I think he'll become the candidate we want him to be.

I'm just asking nicely, if we're looking at 8 months of this, could we try to move beyond the simple arguments and scapegoating that are the domain of neo-cons?

NEW YORK - The Black Crowes are lashing out at Maxim magazine for reviewing the band's new album — apparently without actually hearing it first.

The review, published in Maxim's March issue, gives the Crowes' "Warpaint" a rating of two-and-a-half stars out of five.

"The writer — who has not heard the album since advance CDs were not made available — wrote what appears to be a disparaging assessment anyway, citing, `it hasn't left Chris Robinson and the gang much room for growth,'" said a statement on the band's official Web site.

The band's manager, Pete Angelus, said the magazine explained that its review was an "educated guess."

"It speaks directly to the lack of the publication's credibility," Angelus said in a statement. "In my opinion, it's a disgrace to the arts, journalism, critics, the publication itself and the public. What's next — Maxim's concert reviews of shows they never attended, book reviews of books never read and film reviews of films never seen?"

A representative for the magazine would not confirm or deny to The Associated Press whether the writer actually listened to the album. Instead, Maxim released this statement in response: "Maxim will continue to provide our readers with information that is important to them, whether it is about fashion, lifestyle, technology, music, movies and more."

"Warpaint," the band's first album in seven years, is set for release March 4. The blues-rock group, fronted by Chris Robinson, has released only one song from the disc, "Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution."

The band's hits include "Hard to Handle" and "She Talks to Angels."

I stopped reading that sorry excuse for a mag, after they had a lovely little article about Rumsfelt, and how awesome he was...I had been noticing a slight tilt to the right anyway, and that article was too much. Same with FHM...they had this stupid article about how to be a bad-ass, and evidently every bad-ass worth his salt needs an armored attache case by Halliburton, retail $900.00. I wouldn't use either magazine to wipe my liberal behind.

Doesn't matter that we haven't heard the album, as long as our idiot base buys the magazine thats what ultimately count$ to us. You can't do nuttin' if your not rich. And you don't get rich trying to sell truth, or integrity in these trying times.

BTW....I never paid for the mags. My co-worker gave them to me after he was done. Just puttin that out there...

I am sick to death of the Ralph Nader meme that he and his minions spead around like vomit at a college kegger. Just how many progressive, liberal Republicans do YOU know? How about running Bloomburg, Paul, and Nader as independents and just guarantee the Republicans the victory? You know constantly saying that the Democrats and the Republicans are all the same and it doesn't make a lick of difference who you vote for does have a vote depressing effect. This election is just too important for the Supreme Court alone to waist your time, energy, and vote on someone just to make you feel better. Why wait, just outlaw abortion in half the states now. How about setting up a department of KBR and call it the national security force?
