Bush Memories of Osama bin Laden

March 13, 2002

So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you. I'm more worried about making sure that our soldiers are well-supplied; that the strategy is clear; that the coalition is strong; that when we find enemy bunched up like we did in Shahikot Mountains, that the military has all the support it needs to go in and do the job, which they did.

Q But don't you believe that the threat that bin Laden posed won't truly be eliminated until he is found either dead or alive?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him. I know he is on the run. I was concerned about him, when he had taken over a country. I was concerned about the fact that he was basically running Afghanistan and calling the shots for the Taliban. (h/t Joe)

WTF is Bush talikng about with:

Mullah Omar was ready to give up bin Laden if we simply provided evidence concerning his involvement in 9/11. The plan was never to get him. It's called the "WOT needs Legs" strategy. It's impossible to create any number of nexis relationships if the principle is dispatched.

BTW His parsing of words in regard to the location of OBL gives some measure of support to those who believe that OBL is dead.

No. The Bush Administration and their collusion buddies in the Democratic party succeeded.

Massively succeeded.

Bush knows exactly where he is. They've been bosom buddies all of their childhood and adult lives. (House of BinLaden/House of Bush) OBL worked for the CIA helping us to move Russia from Afghanistan so what makes anyone think that he's still not in their employ?

Not knowing where he is doesn't bode well for either this presidunce or our intel agencies, frankly. Of course, Bush doesn't know where much is at any given point during the day any longer either. (senile dementia)

These comments are the hallmark of an ignorant bully. Of course, he knows where his "personal boogeyman" is. Don't believe it for a moment.

Next thing, you'll be telling us Exxon has been earning 3 billion a month, the uber-wealthy are even richer, and the economy is about to be tanked so Bush and his buddies can buy the rest of the country for pennies on the dollar.

They also asked for a billion dollars in financial aid to help them rebuild their nation from the decades of warfare that they suffered through.

It would of been much cheaper than spending 3 trillion dollars.

This precedent wants us to believe that the guy who masterminded 9/11, the biggest ever hugest ever event that happened in all mankind*, isn't worth looking for as it's too difficult and they got better things to do? This when they can see what newspaper you're reading from a satellite? It is soooo transparent - and so amazing and cringeworthy.

What really strikes me about that video of Bush is how absolutely uninterested he looks about the whole thing. His demeanor is so un-presidential and immature. While the reporter is asking him her question, he stands there like a bored 10 year old, wishing he could be out playing instead of having to sit with the boring grown-ups. What a complete buffoon he is. I can't wait till 1/20/09.

They probably bombed another wedding party. The US military has done a piss poor job of explaining the local traditions of the people in Afghanistan. They celebrate weddings by firing rifles into the air. All it takes is 1 dipshit Reservist to call in an airstrike and you have a 2 dead extended families. Things like this tend to go over poorly with the locals. The offial story is always the same. The US bombed a group of people based upon intelligence that a high ranking Al Queda member was there. Blah...blah...blah... words...words...words... Since, the information is classified; the Army can use it as a cover story. That is why the number 2 man keeps dying. I've often wondered if GW would fade into obscurity in the minds of Americans as his father has, except for an occasional surfacing that reminds us he's still in the land of the living.

I suspect GW will be hated by a great number of Americans who lived through his term of office until their dying day. I don't think that much would blot him from memory or the history books as being the most corrupt and felonious president in modern times, probably even in American history.

The word Al Queda is interesting. It means "the base". In the West "the base" is seen as something that is strong, a foundation. In the Arab World. "The base" is where the shit goes when you flush the toilet; it is where the dirt is. When Arab papers describe a terrorist attack the use the term"Al Queda" to describe the person who did it. We do the same thing in the West; when someone does something bad we call them "A dirtbag" or a "Lowlife". During the Clinton years, the American Media began describing Al Queda as an organization. It was simple to blame everything on "One enigmatic super boogeyman". The truth is; Osama was no more significant than any other dirtbag terrorist. The 17 people who did the World Trade Center Bombings were probably the only people that he knew that were dumb enough to do something like that. Even at that, it took him decades to find those 17 people. Not a very impressive organization. Most the people we are going after are business associates or people that had brunch with him at one time or another; the most significant of which was a taxi-driver that drove him from Kabul to a mountain village. The War on Terror is a sham. Almost every terrorist attack attributed to Bin Laden was at one time or another associated with the real people who did it. It kinda goes like this; we blow up the Chinese Embassy in Serbia; the Chinese blow up 2 of our Embassies in Africa. Rather than tell the truth to the American People and start a war with China; we tell the sheep that the enigmatic super boogeyman (Osama) did it. The sheep continue shopping at Walmart like nothing happened. All is well.

AND, the Bin Laden family probably get the contract to rebuild... they've been doing sheep bombing runs on us for years and years, it's just that we've been looking the other way.

Ever seen the doco The Power of Nightmares? Fascinating - seems to explain a lot - but then there's always more to know and we're unlikely (as mere sheeple) to find out what's really going on to the enth degree. Hard to see when there's so much smoke and mirrors.

Thank God, or someone, we got rid of John Howard in Australia. Now we can try to live in the delusion that all is better in this country (the 52nd state of the US).

What great manipulators! Machiavelli would be proud. Won't be long before the M&M color-coded alerts start changing....just in time to rack up some electoral votes for Republicans, and given the late convention date, in plenty of time to maybe scare both committed and uncommitted Democratic delegates from one candidate to another.

You should actually read "The Price". Machiavelli would of described Bush as a capricious moron that undermined his legitimacy at every opportunity. Machiavelli would use Bush as an example of how not to rule.

Actually, Machiavelli would have been held the Bush family syndicate as an excellent example of how to RULE. For indeed they have.

Machiavelli explained hundreds of years ago how the US was overthrown

He who desires or attempts to reform the government of a state, and wishes to have it accepted and capable of maintaining itself to the satisfaction of everybody, must at least retain the semblance of the old forms; so that it may seem to the people that there has been no change in the institutions, even though in fact they are entirely different from the old ones.

Machiavelli. Discourses on Livy

America, an illusion of a Democratic Republic.

You are absolutely right, and your point certainly applies in places where Princes are not subject to term limits. My reference was simply to two Machiavellian principles mastered by even this moron...to rule by force and not by law, and concern yourself above all else with war. In this country, where you only get eight years on the throne, that's all it takes.

Go look at the FBI Most Wanted listing for Osama. 9/11 doesn't even appear on his rap sheet.

Of course, totally agree, I didn't think OBL did it from the very beginning, just like I didn't think muslim extremists did Oklahoma (I was in the States for that one and in Michigan to boot) ... the whole thing's a crock and smellier than all of GWB's underpants put together for his entire life - my point was that the vast majority of Americans believe that OBL did 9/11 and he's not interested in finding him... yeah, right!

As Benazir Bhutto said to David Frost in November of 2007 on al-Jazeera TV, Osama bin Laden was assassinated by the man who killed Pearl. He has been dead a long time, and when Bush said that he didn't care about him in March of 2002 and that he disbanded the CIA group that focused on him alone, all signs point to his death. Bush has known it, but he uses the dead boogeyman because the average American still believes the garbage that comes out of his mouth. Meanwhile, the House kowtows to his scare tactics when he keeps pushing for the immunity to the Tel-coms. Sometimes, I think our reps in Washington are dumber than us.

What a complete buffoon he is. I can’t wait till 1/20/09.

This is why there are people out there believe that he and the VP was involved(in the Sept, 11 attack). President Bush never seems haunted or cares about what happens. People pick up on that.

GWB must have had a spark of something long long ago, even being a fortunate son a person needs some stage presence to go for high elected offices or just not appear totally dumb on TV.
Drink and drugs took their toll years ago and when people say McCain is just another GWB think contrary,
GWB is was just another today's McCain, old and brain fried.
Going by that 1988 RNC convention interview when a drunken waffles on about how the TANG could have won the Vietnam war if they had been there... (they were there, he wasnt)
Any competent Dem politico could have wiped the floor with Chimpy pre 2000 if they had had the sphericals to have done it, or not been bought off or blackmailed into silence, likewise with the American MSM.

Thats the sad legacy of GWB and of the Republicans, 8 years of people not summoning up the courage to oppose corruption and incompetence.
The Democrat party has the strength and numbers to oppose the RNC corruption machine, and a good start would be impeaching Cheney and 1 second later impeaching Bush.

This man, GWB, is the president of the United States - arguably the biggest, most important office in the world - isn't that a kicker?

*That is, apart from the hundreds of shocking episodes that have happened around the world to equally innocent people.

but who says he is the mastermind of 9/11? The government? The Bush Administration? You gotta be kidding me.

Thank You!!!! Yes, someone else had saw that. I told my sister that he wasn't wanted for 911, think he is wanted for the attack on American ships but she was too frightened to check it out. She was in a state of denial. This is the ultimate disgrace this president could have done to the american people, I think when the american people wake up, then things will roll...change will come. In the meantime, all those government contractors making billions from blood money will continue to let the taxpayers think they live in a democracy. Democracy is dead and this "President" shows this. Do you think Roosevelt, Kennedy would stop looking for the supposedly mastermind of 911? How the bar has been lowered since those days. The whole things is a show and the american people are letting it happen. I can see it in this next election. Democracy, my ass!!!!! The only difference between a dictatorship and the United States is that the real dictators are on a board.

BTW His parsing of words in regard to the location of OBL gives some measure of support to those who believe that OBL is dead.

Exactly. Benazir Bhutto said in November that bin Laden was killed. But the BBC interview with Bhutto never was broadcast here. Why not? Was it blocked because the Bush administration finds it useful to continue the illusion that he is still alive and calling the terrorists' shots? Is it more useful to continue the fear-mongering?

That is precisely why this president does not acknowledge his death. He need a boogeyman to scare people with. If the boogeyman is dead, people will be less inclined to feed the industrial-military complex (read: profits for FOB). OBL is still serving his purpose.
