Racist comments on FOX News Website: Where is O'Reilly's crack team now?

Updated: The Factor has turned their attention away from attacking Daily Kos over and over again so that Bill O'Reilly could embark on a sick crusade against the Huffington Post over anonymous comments posted on Arianna's blog. BillO had his team of producers harassing her at the Take Back America conference yesterday before she went on a panel. You know, coming after her, yelling, "why do you allow these to appear on the HuffPo?" Well, with billions of dollars at NewsCorp's disposal, what's Ruppert Murdoch's excuse for these kind of posts to find their home on FOX, Bill? From this post:

I am sooo tired of hearing how the black man has been mistreated since he was shipped over here to help build America! All I hear is them groveling over being victims.
They are the ones making themselves the victims with their attitude that whites owe them something for bringing their ancestors to the best country that has ever existed. All my life I have only witnessed the blacks with their hands out to the government expecting it to give them everything they want and shouting racist if they don’t get it! No wonder most whites have the opinion that blacks are worthless, lazy sloths who know only how to make more babies and steal everything not nailed down. Barak Lenin Obama, the big eared Muslim, is only fostering this “wo is me” attitude with his obvious prejudices. I, for one, like my white race over that of any other, so does that make me a racist? So these were deemed acceptable? Most liberal bloggers with open comments try their best to weed out horrible anonymous comments, but we miss some. If we had millions of dollars at our fingertips to hire a huge staff to make sure outrageous stuff never appeared then they probably wouldn't. Now that FOX News is sanctioning them, I guess the media will consider it a non-issue. What say you, BillO?

That is disheartening to read actually. The ironic part is Obama just gave a speech that the entire world needed to hear that underlined opening a constructive helpful dialogue on race relations. These people must have missed the part about being constructive and helpful.
Onto the larger issue Bill will obviously overlook these comments because they don't serve his crusade.

Based on the posts to FOX, I again stand behind all the posts I've made regarding the racism endemic to this country.
The opinions voiced by those posters are the types of generalizations that all white people have heard spoken at the dinner table. They are there under the surface, and are exactly the types of generalizations and concurrent emotions that the right wing is trying to tap with their attacks on Obama and the incessant replaying of Rev. Wright's comments. And there are just as many generalizations in the minds of people with regard to women also.
I'm sorry for what I am about to say, I like Obama...I think he is a great candidate. I could vote to for Hillary as well. The problem is that by running either of these candidates, the Democratic Party has made an incredibly naive decision, and put in jeopardy an election that should have been a runaway for them.

I'm about as cynical a person as they come but I really think the average American wants to feel good about themselves and their country again. The voter turn out, the money, the lesser elections all seem to be leaning heavily toward the Democrats. People will come around on Barack, once they get serious and really look into their choices it will become obvious.
These are the folks who sit home and watch Maury Povich, and those awful "Judge" shows (except Judge Judy who is hilariously scathing regardless of race, creed or color) and the local (police blotter) news and live in a neighborhood where everyone looks like them. They don't know anyone who doesn't look and think they way they do and they don't want to. Through all the fuss that's been made about Reverend Wright's comments I remained amazed that no one has bothered to notice that in all his ranting and raving that's been spashed across the TV he always, and I do mean ALWAYS, referred to the America he was damning as "WE"! He didn't say "THEY", "THEM" or "THOSE GUYS". He said, "WE" did these things he condemned. Doesn't that mean something? He's not excluding himself or black America from sins of which he accuses America (unlike some so-called Christians on the right who damn America in the same harsh terms if not worse). He said, "we". "We" have every right to criticize "us". It's not treason. If you see someone you love doing wrong you speak up, harshly if need be.
In that spirit, as an American I feel qualified to say this. We, as Americans, are earning our international acclaim and reputation as a bunch of ignorant buffoons. And I was, ignorantly, assuming that since she came from the great Rift area that she was black. She was, however, by today's geography, from the Africa continent.

When I had to put my dog to sleep last month I wrote about it. There were so many sweet and heartfelt comments but there was one asshole who posted as "anonymous" of course. Barack Obama delivered a nuanced and profound speech which he himself wrote. It was high minded and it takes some work to understand. It will be studied for years to come.
The first challenge is to read it, in its entirety, probably several times.
It went way beyond the platitudes that normally pass for political discourse. To me it addresses the fundamental question of the human condition in our land, whether you are black, white, both or neither.
I am not at all surprised that some skulls are simply too thick to take it in, or perhaps too lazy to try.
Or, there are the bigots who have no interest in any sort of reconciliation.
There is also a great deal of trickery afoot in the political landscape that has a very narrow self interest at heart. Never mind what further damage is done to the national psyche. Those are the folks that are the most dangerous.
That unfortunately is par for the course. The amazing thing, based on my own message boarding experiences of late is that people with these attitudes don't for a second think they're being racist. To them, they're stating fact. Everyone is out to get them and demanding something of or from them.
The unfortunate part of that is that a lot of these are people that are described either as Reagan Democrats or Independents or even Democrats in general. This is a big hurdle to surmount and Obama was on the right track with his speech. unfortunately people with that mindset really don't want to hear that they're part of the problem. They'd just rather point at Sharpton and Jackson (and now Wright) and claim that they're being overrun by demagogues and by races that cry racism without taking any self reflection. And as Obama pointed out, they're not entirely wrong either.
These are just distractions of course to real substantive issues. If it wasn't race, it would have been abortion. If it wasn't abortion, it would have been gays. If it wasn't gays it would have been patriotism or flag burning. Race though was the one bomb that hit right on target and threatens to distract (and divide) from real substantive issues that actually affect everyone black and white. Asian and latino. And that was the point. Obama was the real threat to the status quo and I'm sure certain interested people are breathing a small sigh of relief.

It’s unfortunate that the media outlets are more concerned with drumming up extra contests=viewers=money. I always saw CNN as being responsible in reporting, but after watching the slamming of Obama leading up to the Ohio and Texas primaries, apparently to keep the race going, I think differently.
There was never a redaction of the allegations that Obama’s staff has secret NAFTA-related transmissions to the Canadians (Clinton was the culprit), which resulted in Obama being called a liar on this show. No remorse for obsessing over Rezko with no evidence of wrongdoing during the same cycle.
I’ve been wholeheartedly disappointed in the treatment of serious issues here, that are reduced to soundbytes and pundit chatter, rather than being used as opportunities to inform the public.
Reporting lately bolster’s the blogosphere’s calling CNN the Clinton News Network, and I am agreeing more daily.

I wish Obama's speech could have been at night during prime time. I'm afraid that a whole lot of people couldn't be at their tv's that morning and they aren't going to take the time on the net to find it and read it. Now, I could be wrong, but I never heard Obama say he was perfect, and he never ever did anything that even bore a hint of impropriety. What he does say, is that things need to change, and he's confronted every criticism about his actions that has been thrown his way. The Africans SOLD their own people to the Dutch for slavery. The US didn't just cruise over there and snatch them up. It was the Americans that put a stop to slavery, at least in this country.

As discouraging as it was to see those comments posted on the Fox site... what really struck me as even beyond the normal level of Fox insanity, was that the story these comments were responding to... which was the main headline story on their website... was one exposing that the New Bllack Panther Party had a page on the Obama website endorsing him, and they were using this to smear Obama... even though this was a user-generated page created on his site (possibly by people at Fox news), and even though it was deleted by Obama's staff...
So, the story attempting to hold Obama accountable for user-generated content on his web site, allows this type of user generated content on THEIR website (moderated no less)... on the very story flaming Obama for user-generated content!
I know Fox does pretty insane stuff every hour of every day, but this just seems like the worst marriage of fake news, smear tactics, and blatent hypocrisy that I've seen yet... all rolled into one web page

Isn't it interesting that we have so many comments denouncing blacks in America. If you remember the reason blacks were shipped to America is because the British traders were too lazy or too greedy to grow their own food. But that aside, black Americans were the only ones shipped here against their will.
The rest, the Europeans, came because Europe was overcrowded, had high unemployment and sought a better life in the "new world".
So here you are, white Americans, still trying to defend horrific actions against native peoples, who naively thought the "settlers" were just cool people coming over to check out the new continent. So here we are, poor racists whites, still justifying attrocities, still having others grow their food, clean their houses and raise their children.

Racism is the symptom, not the disease. It's easy to keep a homogenous population under control when you provide an easy to identify fear target. Look at 1940's caricatures of Jews or Japanese; the intention was to create a plainly evil and less-than-human enemy that posed a direct, personal threat. As long as there is an Other to fear, people will accept just about any measures employed in the name of security.
It's pretty obvious that fear is good for business, if you're in the right business.

Obama identifies himself as African American. The Census would too.
Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Montel...would all gladly define themselves as African American.
Hispanic's too...Mexican American anyone?
By that same standard, I'd be identified as Irish American.
The Census would identify ME as Caucasian/Non-Hispanic.
Why do we care? If we IDENTIFY OURSELVES as DIFFERENT....
