Stewart: "Hard to believe folks -- five years. And they said it wouldn't last. No, seriously, they said it wouldn't last."
MR. RUSSERT: [D]o you think the American people are prepared for a long, costly, and bloody battle with significant American casualties?
VICE PRES. CHENEY: Well, I don’t think it’s likely to unfold that way, Tim.
RUMSFELD: It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months.
The reverse historical breakdown is classic.

Watching this makes me reflect on all the lies we were told and how the majority of us believed it. I too, believed everything that they spoon fed us. Time for reflection indeed.
Chimpeach!
Please fellow Americans...
Never Again.
We should put the best we have forward not what we flush down.
Iraq Celebrates 5th Anniversary by Re-Gifting Democracy
Where have the years gone?
I remember you weren't expected be around more than a few months.
I know one thing, I will never follow anyone blindly. That's why I'm still stunned that 30% of Americans still believe in this adminastration. I think they are all on Prozac.
When the chickens come how to roost for this one, well, that's gonna be a lot of really, really pissed off chickens.
Meanwhile Rumsfeld is on the lecture circuit....Cheney is still lying about an Iraq/9-11 connection...and Chimpy is counting the days until he can shuffle back to Crawford.
No accountability. No penalties. Unreal.
Oh just give it another dozen more Friedman Units and it will be over...
...maybe.
The Truth Hurts @ 8:
Fixed.
The Truth Hurts @8. Are you kidding me? Rumsfield on a lecture circuit? Who would pay to actually hear this man talk? He is was a disaster. News like this makes me want to pull my hair out.
I just can't find any humor in this any more. Bush's friends and associates have become obscenely wealthy off this war. These fucks will just walk away into comfortable retirement, letting the rest of us deal with the loss, the consequences, and the blowback.
linkies no work for this mac person..
I wish that I could see these videos. They are not coming in.
after those stellar prognostications why should or would any american believe anything those ......'s have to say?
I cant believe we have to sit around and wait for this President to just leave. It's demoralizing, depressing and just plain wrong. Where are all the people who were calling for Clinton's head after Monicagate? This President has done far more worse things then Clinton ever did. In fact, Bush makes Nixon look like a chior boy.

Nor Firefox User ;P
If only it could have been stopped before it began. If only the Senators had listened to the weapons inspectors report. If they had, so fu*king many lives could have been saved and imagine the financial condition our country would be in today. The Supreme Court must never be allowed to decide who our president will be. They aren't good at that.
As for how bush won in 2004, I think a video had something to do with that. That video of Ossama was helpful for bush because it pinged the fear button one more time.
I'm wondering, in my lifetime, will the world ever really forgive our country for what it has done in Iraq? We'll have a new president, but the scar of Iraq is going to last a long long time. Hopefully the next president can convince the world that we aren't who bush made us appear to be.

Nor mac person using firefox :(
I feel like Lady MacBeth. "Out damn spot!"
P.D. @ 1:
shame shame!
That show last night was a classic. Once again, the only real reporting comes from Comedy Central.
tyree, I do feel shame.
Whole SITE refuses to load in FF on Windows XP. I have to resort to IE 7. shudder. Links stop working at Fox anchor storms off set. Daily Show links and Condi links won't play. Many times comments don't come up either.

World's Worst - ThePatriotsMaxim
The Crimes of George W. Bush
Why Republicans Will Lose in 2008
Bill O'Reilly vs. Martin Luther King
I hope when Bush does slither back to Crawford that everywhere he goes people boo him and call him a traitor. Of course his blood alcohol will be so high he won't know the difference. I wish him a miserable slow death of liver failure.
There is no justice or accountability.
"I just can’t find any humor in this any more. Bush’s friends and associates have become obscenely wealthy off this war. These fucks will just walk away into comfortable retirement, letting the rest of us deal with the loss, the consequences, and the blowback."
I agree. I hardly watch TDS/Colbert anymore. It is hard to laugh when this is all making me sick and afraid of the future.
P.D. @ 16:
Maybe they'll wind up like Kissinger: Unable to travel outside the US without fear of arrest for war crimes. Because no one here is going to hold them accountable.
Mission accomplished?
The snippet of Wright's comments about 9/11, played endlessly by the MSM, were not Wright's own words....he was quoting from one Ambassador Edward Peck. From KOS:
"The truth about the Reverend Wright controversy is now starting to be revealed: The media manufactured it for ratings. How else can one explain the fact that anyone who actually takes the time to watch any of the videos would have a different impression from the one being pushed by ABC/NBC/CNN/MSNBC and most especially FOX?
I decided to pull of the video of Reverend Wright's sermon in which he allegedly made the comments blaming America for 9/11, and guess what I found? He was quoting Ambassador Edward Peck, who made those comments on FOX NEWS (oh, the irony) the day after the 9/11 attacks. Here is the evidence:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOdlnzkeoyQ&feature=related
"Around the 3-minute mark, Reverend Wright asks the church members if they saw the ambassador on Fox News, and what he had said. Then he proceeds to pull out a sheet of paper, and read the words of ambassador Peck.
This is another example of how the media has manufactured a controversy in order to sway the American public. We all should be very concerned about the media in the country, because after all...this is the same crowd that gave us the Iraq war."
Sob. Videos malfunction from here; this thread. Can't see the hippie Cheney one above, or Condi. But, maybe you already know?
In the meantime, (twiddling fingers) (wink) this Obama speech is excellent; better than the race speech!! (Iraq and foreign realtions)

P.D. @ 1:
The question is "How many Americans?' , primarily in the Red States, are attuned to what
is happening.
Answer: Not Many.
Americans like most people are not deep thinkers. Like cows or a moose.
If they are comfortable they will not move.
If uncomfortable watch out.
'hell is wet' lol
SCHRODINGER'S CAT @ 32:
Don't forget they're stoked with FEAR, this wonderful administration has been dishing up right the way along. "Run, run, run. Hide your children. The terr-iss are comin'." (*A message from your preznit.)
Cheney/Bush - psychopath/sociopaths @ the wheel in America and nobody's stopping them!
One of the best TDS clips ever. Absolutely brilliant.
was gonna say, if the oil in the menorah lasted eight entire days, a miracle, for Judah and the Maccabees (sp?), there's no tellin' how long the US occupation of Iraq might last. but then i changed my mind.
there is noone in charge; there is no structure legal or otherwise reliably looking out for the best interests of 'we the people'...it's a done deal...they have tasers, detention camps, and extradition absent habeus corpus...there will be no uprising here...
rigged elections will produce either tweedle dee or tweedle dum; either way, 'alternative energy' ain't gonna be solar or wind, folks. it's already decided and done...it is liquified natural gas (LNG), to be stored and processed at a LNG Terminal near you...Long Island Sound already approved by FERC... passed a NEPA review with 'flying colors'...just wait for the first explosion; you ain't seen nothin' yet....if you think 3,000 deaths from 'terrorists' on sept 11 was ugly, the best is yet to come and it has nothing to do with 'terrorists' at our door.
don't believe me? go ck out the FERC (Bush's Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) web site...google 'LNG' 2008...Shell already had ads on TV promoting LNG as the solution to our 'energy crisis'....all of this boils down to Bush/Cheney 2000 coup, their 2001 National Energy Plan; their bring down of Gray Davis via phoney electric blackouts, tampering with supply (market driven); and inserting The Terminator as King of California.
I don't care a rat's ass about these b*stards but if you live near the coast anywhere around the Us, get the h*ll outta there. If you think they did a great job of evacuating and assisting after Rita and Katrina, stay where you are...but it will happen to you by inferno and no disaster management outfit will be up to the task; imagine all of the CA wildfires concentrated and engulfing Long Island and more.
And Congress and the Prez (Clinton, McCain, Obama) included, voted for and signed off on the 2005 Energy Security Act (or some such name) amending a previous energy law, establishing Federal pre-emption from selected siting of LNG terminals.
Finally, Obama, Clinton, McCain, Lieberman....all of them support and have aided the financial, energy, and business infrastructure to establish the North American Union and intensification of interrelated energy commercial markets with South America that is one among many driving forces making this a done deal.
But will gas or energy be more 'affordable' for Americans in the near and distant future? Don't bet on it but do invest in all of these LNG related companies you can find at the LNG 2008 Conference web site. You might as well make some money on which to live.
We laugh. While the Iraqi people have had their lives turned into a living hell by our illegal invasion. Over a million dead, 4 million Iraqi people are refugees. Who knows how many Iraqi people have been injured...but whose counting? Not us.
Many believe this was the plan. Collective disorientation, death and destruction in the middle east. All according to the Clean Break plan. The PNAC plan.
Brilliant.
so someone please tell me why were still there really?
[sorry.but I'm doing this for your own protection.....deleted........Site Monitor]
