Doctors don't buy malpractice insurance because they expect to kill someone. It's to cover court costs as much as anything, because people will sue whether or not you were acting within the law. I really don't think this is anything to take issue with - we live in a litigious society.

But other parts of the CIA earned its nickname "The Company" for good reason. People in our society can sue for absolutely anything, legal or otherwise, without risk - so long as they can find a lawyer willing to work on contingency (and there are PLENTY of them out there). Unfortunately, the person being sued is still stuck footing their bill just by defending themselves even if they're 100% right. This exact thing happened to a friend of mine. He owns a small recruiting firm and was slapped with a frivolous lawsuit that was thrown out of court the minute it finally got in front of a judge (which was a long road in itself). It still cost him about $500k in fees because he wasn't willing to settle. The type of insurance he's talking about in this clip would cover exactly that type of situation.
