The General and The Ambassador to Iraq gave their little shows also. Powell and many others have said that bush has broken the military. The push now should be to reinstate the Draft and it should happen opn bush's watch, since he is the one who broke it.

On MSNBC after Pelosi made her statement, the cameras were shut off and they went to commercial. I was pissed.
I noted that this was given coverage on CSPAN-3, a channel that is watched by very,
very few(sad to say). Will the MSM(NBC/ABC/CBS/CNN/Faux Noise/MSNBC and others
do likewise? I know NOT !!!
We need to pay a lasting tribute to the Olympic torch by renaming it the George W Bush Memorial torch - it causes mass riots and demonstrations in every foreign country it goes to - much like he does.

The war goes on because it is profitable to people in the Executive and Legislative branches. If only Jon and the Dems could say what Truman said: "making profits from war is treason" and add that people who have the power to decide to go to war and to continue war while making profits from that war is a capital crime.
Then Bush would call it an occupation, which it is, and say that profits from occupations are good business.

Well, the fact is, if Bush enacted the draft to restore troop levels, the public wouldn't stand for it. (Likewise, if the public was taxed for the war, it would end, so it it financed by borrowing.)
So, Bush has resorted to the extended tours to stretch out the troops he has, and has brought in mercenaries from companies such as Blackwater. Now, from the perspective of the other side, those Blackwater mercenaries could be considered "unlawful enemy combatants". So, if Bush wishes to rely on mercenaries, then, the precedent at Guantánamo Bay that Bush has created doesn't help the mercenaries, dubbed by the corporate media as "contractors".
Neocon = Unfit to formulate foreign or military policy.
I am so sick of Nancy Pelosi and her "new direction" talking point. She has been an enabler and a doormat. She and Harry Reid are as responsible for this mess as Bush and Cheney at this point.

As a Military Officer I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I am in Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Their mouths move but nothing happens! For them to do nothing is as criminal as Bush continuing this crazy war. I am disgusted with our military and civilian leadership. Everyone cares but no one wants to do what needs to be done.
We are truly screwed. Next stop for this country is the worst recession we have ever seen, don't forget to thank our leadership for that too!
Great point John made about Bush is (now) making a promise of 12 month deployments starting in August when come August, 2009, he won't even be President. All it means is he gets to score some cheap political points.

This, too, is Pelosi's fault. She refuses to hold Bush responsible for his high crimes and misdemeanors. From the day she made the decision to betray her duty to the Constitution, she became the owner of all his subsequent misdeeds. She is enabling him and is thus deserving of as much contempt as is he. If she aren't going to do her job, she needs to STFU and step down.
