C&Ler Gion tipped us off to this funny bit over at DailyKos: FOXNews sent out a producer to get reactions from small town Pennsylvanians on Barack Obama's comments re: the challenges of reaching out to voters who are "embittered" by the economic situation and distrustful of politicians.

If FOXNews hoped to find some highly offended voters, they were very disappointed.

the video links don't work.

the "This Week’s In Memoriam" is the last video that worked today.

Heh.

Yeah, well, I think folks are barking up the wrong tree if they think THIS is what's going to bring Obama down.

You'd have to be blind, stupid, delusional, OR insanely Republican to believe that there ISN'T an awful lot of bitterness out there.

Please, FOX---keep talking about this "issue." Then we WILL find out who's "out of touch" with blue collar Americans.

PLEEEEASE!

what fux & co are proving is that they are out of touch. Just like I said.
only the elitists are misconstruing this and twisting it into a political pretzel!

DITTO!

I think we already know who's out of touch with lower and middle class Americans... And it isn't Barack Obama.

in 1991, bill clinton said the following

You know, he [Bush] wants to divide us over race. I'm from the South. I understand this. This quota deal they're gonna pull in the next election is the same old scam they've been pulling on us for decade after decade after decade. When their economic policies fail, when the country's coming apart rather than coming together, what do they do? They find the most economically insecure white men and scare the living daylights out of them. They know if they can keep us looking at each other across a racial divide, if I can look at Bobby Rush and think, Bobby wants my job, my promotion, then neither of us can look at George Bush and say, 'What happened to everybody's job? What happened to everybody's income? What ... have ... you ... done ... to ... our ... country?'"

is this much different than what obama said??? and no matter how hillary, the repugs or mcfeeble try to spin it, the wingnuts have used god, guns and gays in order to keep this part of the population controlled....use fear...it works every time

this will not destroy obama's campaign

he will be the next president of these united states

CNN.com's report of tonight's forum is about as enlightened as Faux Newz:

"Last Sunday, he referred to small-town Pennsylvanians as "bitter" people who "cling to guns and religion."

Best team in politics hacking up fur-balls.

As I said in an earlier post, I'm from "small town PA". I grew up outside of Harrisburg. Obama was 100% correct. It's the people of the talking head class on Fox "News" and the other members of the pundit class who are the elites and are out of touch with us.

Millionaires McCain & Billary are in high dudgeon over O's remarks. Good. I think enough Americans have common sense to see thru their bullshit and to recognize the essential truths that O touched on in his so-called "bitterness" comments. I predict this will actually help O and boomerang on the other two phonies.

Ahh...now it has come full circle. The liberal media and the right-wing media are all working together to get the same person elected.

ya...that is based on the dobb's fill in show, where the female host kept saying that obama was putting down small town america

jeezus christ

here is a guy from a mixed marriage, a broken home, mostly raised by a single mother and grandparents...a kid of mixed race who spent the majority of his teen years really confused as to who he was and is...does anyone really think he is an elitest and hates small town america?

i believe the electorate is smarter than that....if they arent, then mcfeeble will be our next pres, and the union is doomed

listening to the "Compassion Forum" on CNN earlier... the pennsyvania election coverage after... hillary isn't the only one who wants to keep beating this dead horse... as campbell brown said "it's not going away"... to which i replied to the tv "because YOU're not gonna let it"...

barack made the point that to imply that he, who worked with the inner city poor, was elitist was ridiculous...

i wish he would point out that the reason hillary wanted to talk about this is to DISTRACT away from bill's latest columbia deal, and other choice stories...
she had to shut him up about the bosnia trip, again, but brought him out to play attack dog, again...

Fox News: News for old men over 60

I'm serious, if people think that Fox News is "real" news, you have to be pretty stupid. Unfortunately, the rest of the news media is not that good.

Only a handful like Olbermann, Seymour Hersh, Charlie Rose, and Bill Moyers are actually real reporters.

So Hillary and Her NEW Screech are reaching FOX ( who is working for WHO?)....and yeah , I just blogged on this too, because People ARE Bitter- and why can't we be Bitter ? it's NOT Patriotic to be Bitter ? we have lost alot these past 7.5 years....Fine that have been sent to Iraq, people that have lost jobs...50 Million people that don't have Health Insurance ? Millions that have lost jobs thanks to the Clinton's NAFTA debacle....ALL those people hurt or harmed or hurting have every Right to Be Bitter...whether Hillary likes it or not.

Just once, I'd love for one of the elite, out of touch pundits who live in the isolated world of D.C. politics admit that they have NO idea how people in small town America think and feel. Just once! They make me crazy with their arrogance and stupidity and how they get away with, day after day, being completely wrong about how "common" people are going to react to something and NEVER get called on it. And it sure as hell doesn't hurt their careers one bit. In fact, it seems the dumber and more wrongheaded you are, the better it is for your career. In what other career are you rewarded for being bad at your job? What a racket! I wish I was I had an IQ low enough to get one of those jobs.

finding blue collar workers who don't like and don't trust career politicians is like shooting fish in a barrel. I really don't see what the big deal is about here. Obama called 'em out, Hillary and McCain. I really don't see how an accredited journalist can get so "shocked" over his simple comment.

I think Hillary is looking bad over this. I was okay with either candidate before, but now she is raping the Democrat's general election chances to score points over Obama... She would have risen in my estimation if she had backed her fellow Democrat over this BS.

WHO? WHO? WHO? Was the (I presume) Fox News interviewer in the first clip with the 30-year PA resident in sunglasses? (Pardon me for shouting::: WHO WAS SHE?)

And why couldn't she take YES for an answer?

Cuz there's nothing more condescending than getting it.

This is exactly the same thing they were whining about when Reverend Wright's comments became public. Someone made a comment along the lines of "America isn't as good as it should be, and we should work together to improve our country," and the media starts labeling Obama with -isms.

The voters of PA will show the damage of bittergate.

Agreed, and I think it's a gross miscalculation by her. Not only does she know he's right, and WE all know he's right, but she has to know that the only parts of her speeches that she's going to get heard on the evening news and the pundit shows are the parts where she attacks Obama. That gets fatiguing very quickly. Poorly played and not a winning hand for her or the party.

Everyone is(Bitter)over the way things are going in this country. My wife is a republican.Even she is asking why the common people aren't getting help on health-care,and other issues. Now Hillary wants us to think we are just jolly happy eating bon bon's and drinking purple cool aid.Want to be bitter also?Go to the gas station.Go shoot your gun Hillary!

I'm hoping that Hillary's very transparent and disingenuous politicking backfires. Senator Obama spoke the truth. Why mince words and try to sugarcoat what Americans are feeling. People in this country ARE bitter, and with good reason.

Fox News sure were bringing out the parrots yesterday. They just spewed out every word that the Fox pundits were.

It seems to me that she can't defeat him in the primary without destroying his future prospects as a politician. They don't have much difference between them on a lot of issues, so her only argument is that he would make a bad President. If he loses the primary and runs again in 2012 or 2016, he still won't have the executive experience she says is so crucial(which should get no media play at all after we elected W), but he will be saddled with every Republican attack Hillary used against him in the 2008 primaries.

pwnage

....although I'm sure that they'll find a way to twist the footage to their benefit. They always do, after all.

When the gentleman explained why he moved from NY/NJ to PA and mentioned the names did you hear that snicker from the off camera interviewer ?

What was so funny about his partner and their kid's names ?

I love how Obama's supporters keep spouting about his working with inner city poor and his time as a community organizer. But of course they forget to mention he did this as a PAID legal advisor for "non-profit" groups organized by Antoin Rezko. Senator Obama has never done any charitable work. Has not even tried a single pro-bono case! The morons at Faux News are running these stories for the same reason they "protested" against the treatment of Barack by their network, they were told to do it by the RNC and Murdock. They know his name will eventually surface in the Rezko trial and they will not beat him in the Presidential election, they will force him to withdraw in shame guaranteeing McCain a win. They already have enough ammo just in his vaulted record that none of Obama's supporters can be bothered to look up. Where are his charitable deeds, his proven leadership? They don't exist, yet look into Senator Clintons record and you see she has been doing charitable work even taking a reduction in salary at times to leave her more time for that charitable work since she was a teenager! All Obama has is a group of elitist supporters telling everyone else he's not an elitist. The number one being the Huffington Post. HuffPo has become as much of a rag as Faux News! Try making a post there with questions about his involvement with Rezko, or ask about his wife's work making $100K + a year for a "non-profit" hospital that made over $100 million profit last year by charging uninsured patients 350% more than they charged insured patients for the same procedures. And you can bet that your post will not be passed by the moderators. The Repug's know this, and you can bet they already have the "swiftboat" ads ready to run, thats why they keep up with these stories and inflame Obama supporters to try to get HRC to withdraw and give Obama the nomination. The day that happens dozens of ads about his real record, his lack of leadership and his questionable business dealing with Rezko hit all 50 states. We know they will do it, they already spent $5 billion to find out Bill Clinton got a BJ! And thats all they did find after years of investigating Bill and Hillary. But Obamaites keep spouting about the Clinton corruption. Well where are the indictments then? Or do you think they weren't investigated enough yet? Now I know Hillary has made some gafs in judgement lately with mistakes concerning events in Bosnia etc, but I also realize she has been pulling 20+ hour days on the campaign trail frequently. And as anyone who has even done frequest 20 hour days can tell you, lack of sleep makes mistakes like this happen. A worry from the past becomes a mistaken memory quite easily. Ask any vet or police officer who has been questioned about an incident after they have hardly slept for days if they would feel comfortable testifying. Ask a Lawyer if they'd want a witness to be cross examined if they knew that witness was suffering from sleep deprivation, and you will get a unanimous NO!

Hey Bigboneded I didn't see your comment at first. What is wrong with these faux news bubbleheads?

The people don't seem to be getting the message from Fox. How cool is that? That's got to be sending a chill up Rupert's spine. People thinking for themselves. Scary.

Many years ago, I hitchhiked across the U.S. and found that it was middle class and poor folks that would give me rides, often even invite me into their homes for a meal and give me a place to sleep. They knew what it means to have little, and yet they were willing to give and share what little they had. Not once did a wealthy person stop for me.
These folks from Pennsylvania remind me of them. They have more decency in their hearts than most, if not all, of the overpaid pundits and pols who are busy playing politics with their lives. You can be damn sure they understood what Obama said and they're not buying the interpretation Hillary is selling.

then, after super-Tuesday, Barack has a commanding lead, so the question is then, "why isn't anyone attacking Barack?". We have been getting our answer ever since the speech on race. and rightly so, Barack is fighting back. In his speech on race, Barack warned of the coming media blitz. they are living up to his words.

the best part of this protracted mess is that the American People can see for themselves that the media is not only presuming to tell them what to think, but telling them that they are idiots if they don't think the way they are told.

and this entry is proof that the strategy is backfiring. Obama's people have a 'rapid response' group. they put out a statement blasting CNN. I love it. John Kerry and Al Gore did not fight back. that helped ensure two terms for Bush. Obama is having none of that. I love it.

Obama should not worry about the screamers on TV. Just tell the truth.

Me too, but the older gentleman said he wasn't voting for Obama. It would have been an interesting follow up question to ask him why.

As a Canadian, I view this new "Controversy" for Barack Obama the same way that I see the Wright controversy: factually accurate, but politically absurd. Like the Wright controversy, I have a big feeling of disgust for those thinking that this reflects on Obama badly. The comments made by Wright, while over-the-top, were in no way factually wrong. The only problems I had with the statements were that linking 9-11 to Hiroshima was quite a stretch, and that as an Atheist, I did not like the inclusion of religion. The first problem is negligible simply because it was simply to make a point, and the second is irrelevant, because Wright was going after a moral truth, and it was not his faith that I view as influencing the speech, but rather his emotion and life experience.

After watching the Compassion Forum on CNN, I watched a little of the pundits' analysis which was ALL about whether the "bitter" remark would hurt Obama with the voters. The pundits sat there giving their opinions--Campbell Brown, John King, Candy Crowley, etc. informed each other--while masses of people were in the background milling about and waving. Why didn't any of them think to ask the many voters right there available for comments what they thought about the responses from the candidates in the forum? I asked myself why am I watching these "journalists" talk irrelevant nonsense when I can get immediate reactions from the voters online here and in hundreds of other forums? So far, it's pretty clear that Obama is right on in his characterization and the people respect him for his candor. As one who has lived in both upstate New York and in Northeastern PA in small towns, I recognize that Senator Obama is a person who has observed correctly what has happened to America; understands why it has happened, and has formulated a plan to begin to fix it. Now, if we, the voters, let him inspire us to help him make it happen by electing him, I would believe in miracles again.

A way to end all this Obama is an elitist bs... Talking heads for Obama should equate "elitist" with "uppity." Then sharply condemn Hillary and McCain for suggesting he's uppity.

Barrack knows Americans are bitter about losing their jobs, their homes and their middle class. I know people who vote republican because they think the dems are going to take away their guns or approve abortions or devide the wealth with the poor. We are wealthy enough to take care of our people or at least we were pre 911 and the poor, elderly and and the sick need to be taken care of . To look the other way is greed. I would vote republican befor I would vote HILLERY

I'm from PA and I am bitter.

BTW- Allentown and Philly are not rural nor "small town". Can't Fox tell the truth about anything?

In presidential politics, when the going gets tough, the wannabe tough go for their guns. So almost exactly a year after failed Republican White House contender Mitt Romney comically declared himself a "hunter pretty much all my life," Hillary Clinton today bragged about her gunslinging past. Hoping to capitalize on Barack Obama's gaffe about "bitter" small town people and their guns, Hillary like Mitt before her joined the ranks of varmint hunters.

For the details about how Hillary Clinton portrayed herself as the Second Amendment's best friend and a duck's worst enemy, see:

I caught the laugh too. In the context of what the man was talking about, I really do not see how we can interpret the laugh as anything but a reaction to the names mentioned in the interview. Now...maybe if it was a laugh combined with a "Wow, congratulations," I might be able to view it as just her saying something like "Awww, heh" but that is not what happened.

But I guess it is my job to be offended by Obama because Fox News has decreed what I am to think.

The video links are working for me in Safari 3.1 or Firefox 2.0 on any of the posts today?

The only thing that bothers me about Obama is that he says things that are absloutely right on, then backs down as soon as the media starts to spin them. Of course people are bitter, and ignorance may lead them to vote based on religion or gun control or hate. They did that when they were not bitter too, so what's the big deal. He doesn't need to back down. Tell it the way it is for a change!

Hillary Clinton,

In Bosnia she ducked shots.
In Pennsylvania she shot ducks!

Speaking of being elitist, didn't Hillary say a few months ago that she doesn't listen to voters? Didn't she dismiss all the "little states"? Didn't Bill Clinton once talked about "insecure white men"? Will Hillary repudiate her husband's comments as elitist?

Whoops, meant the video links aren't working.

I agree with the poster who noticed that CNN spent little time interviewing members of the actual audience after the event to get their reaction to what they heard. My guess is they did, and decided that what they heard is not what they wanted to report.

How condescending and elitist-- of Fox News.

They go out and dangle the "bitter" comment in front of these people as if they're just trained seals who will do a little patriot dance at the very MENTION that something might be amiss in America. They talk down to these people-- just like this government does. They assume we're all idiots.

Allentown (106,000) is hardly a "small Penn. town". But be that as it may, you can find two people to say "up is down" if you look long and hard enough.

Look, bottom line...it's not whether the "people" think its "elitist". The MSMN will make sure they hear that meme 100 times a day.

It was an incredibly stupid thing to say and it just shows that Obama ain't ready to do November.

I have never heard of someone telling stories(plural) about snipers and running, heads down, to a car on the tarmac because they were TIRED, its called lying and repeating it says even more about how stupid she must think people are..or maybe they were too tired to learn of Youtube..google it. Is she too tired to notice her and Bill's bank account growing by $800,000 courtesy of the govt. of Columbia in their lobbying money to bring more NAFTA disasta', while she says she is against it? Hillary needs to unplug that 3 am phone line and get some sleep.

This flap wa always created by the Media, for the Republicans and against Americans.
NO ONE asked small time Americans if there was a problem with Obama's comments before reporting a problem with Obama's comments.
When the MSM heard no outcry from the quote, they rephrased the quote to sound more offensive(remember Al Gore's invention of the internet?).
This needs to be called out for what it is:
A shameless media attempt to smear Obama through selective and misquoted comments.

Just shows how irrelevant FucksNews is to reality. Wonder how many people they went through to get someone who said what they want to put out there as anti-Obama propaganda.

What Obama said is the reality on the ground that has to be faced by the shrinking middle class of this country. He was right on, as the person in the first clip indicated. I know that I am bitter as a result of our current administration's criminality and incompetence, and what it has done to our Constitution and civil rights.

But moreso, I am bitter at the lack of courage shown by a majority of the democrats when they became the majority in both the House and Senate in 2006. Every time bush wanted them to bend over and open up so he could ream them, they complied, almost willingly. Time for a complete cleansing of the US Congress.

WTF? The old guy knows Obama spoke the truth and admits he himself is bitter but he isn't gonna vote for him. What is wrong with people like this? What the hell do they want?

It was an incredibly stupid thing to say and it just shows that Obama ain't ready to do November.

Not. Smart.

So who *is* ready to "do November"? Obama's missteps have been few and overblown by the media (and his critics who back other candidates). At this point, nothing he says will go without being criticized as "devastating," though the issues are ridiculous and being replayed ad nauseum only because so many people are interested in him.

Alright, so what of his opponents? How many times has McCain put his foot in his mouth and essentially *handed* the Democrats ready-made attack ads for November? How many Independents or former Obama supporters has Clinton won over with her divisive attacks on Obama and her obvious lies about her positions on, for example, NAFTA (against it after she was for it) and taking "sniper fire" in Bosnia? Think she's ever gonna get any Republicans to vote for her? Think she'd pull down more than 30% of the vote?

Given where the meaningful missteps are truly coming from, I'd be curious to hear who you think really is ready to be elected. Neither Clinton nor McCain offer this country anything but 4 more years of tone-deafness and decline. If we pass up this opportunity, we damn sure deserve what we get--a major recession, 4 more years of Iraq, more indebtedness, more outsourcing, AND two political parties that will never compromise for the good of their constituents. It may already be too late.

Was this aired on the Fox News Network or just some local Fox affiliate? I would be very surprised if the Fox cable network aired this. Typically local Fox affiliates aren't as bad as then cable network.

As a longtime reader of C&L I must say that this Obama apologist thing here is pathetic. Did it ever occur to anyone here that Faux Snooze would actually NOT find anyone in PA who was against what Obama said? You are all being played and you will realize it when it is too late. Bill Clinton was the first Democrat elected since Jimmy Carter. You ever wonder why?

Everybody in this country aught to be bitter and pissed off and I think we are. We took our eye off the prize and allowed these jerks to just take over our system of government and screw it up.

No doubt, they are attempting to do the same dame thing, which is why this race continues.

Not this time

The only thing "condescending" is fox news trying to manipulate what people should think.

But what really bothered me is that he's not voting for Obama. WTF? Is mccain going to decrease his bitterness?

Hussein sciguy Hussein (my middle name is not Hussein) @ 43:

Many years ago, I hitchhiked across the U.S. and found that it was middle class and poor folks that would give me rides, often even invite me into their homes for a meal and give me a place to sleep. They knew what it means to have little, and yet they were willing to give and share what little they had. Not once did a wealthy person stop for me.
These folks from Pennsylvania remind me of them. They have more decency in their hearts than most, if not all, of the overpaid pundits and pols who are busy playing politics with their lives. You can be damn sure they understood what Obama said and they're not buying the interpretation Hillary is selling.

Gotta back you on this one. Several years ago I bicycled across the country, and I found - like you did - that those who had the least shared the most. And it did my heart good to find that the vast majority of Americans are kind, helpful, honest and trusting. I can't count the times I chatted with someone for 5-10 minutes in a country store and they invited me into their home for the night. I even stayed with some hardcore right-wingers, with whom I had some very interesting discussions. Yet they still had invited me into their homes. It really was uplifting, finding that most Americans are still of good heart and intentions.

I still refer back to my trip journals when I get a little disheartened, and it always gives me a lift.

I would bet the Black man was interviewed first. When he not only agreed with Obama and gave a very intelligent analysis of the job situation they then tried an older White guy. The man said he is not an Obama supporter but agreed with what he said.

My question is why would Fox go to Allentown? Allentown is the third largest city in Pennsylvania. While it is economically depressed it is anything but a "small town." Apparently Fox doesn't even know what a small town is.

Obama today:

STEELTON, Pennsylvania (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama accused his rivals for the U.S. presidency on Sunday of twisting his words for political gain...
"I am the first to admit that some of the words I chose, I chose badly," Obama told steel workers in Pennsylvania. "They were subject to misinterpretation. They were subject to be twisted. And I regret that, I regret that deeply. But he added, "It sounds like there's some politics being played."

it also shows how desperate hillary and mcsame are as they pathetically attempt to use the bitter issue to somehow pull back ahead of obama in national polls.

trouble for them though is it's not likely to work as the voting populaces attention span will quickly revert back to remembering who's actually responsible for the forclosures on thier homes, the ever increasing gas prices and the jobs that keep getting exported via more and more free trade agreements.

Until I could no longer bear listening to the attemped manipulation, I tuned into NPR this morning. Kokie roberts was giving an alleged analysis of Obama's assessment. Instead of recognizing that Obama was talking about how the supposed boom of the last few years has by-passed and not benefited a broad swath of Americans, she reported on all those who were claiming that democrats are eletists. She repeated this meme over and over again, as if she were in some kind of competition to see how many times it could be repeated in a minute.

Per the usual, I changed the channel. I think I maged to listen for almost 3 minutes this time before succuming to disgust. NPR is no better than the neocon propaganda outlets FOX and CNN; it's just slightly more polished in the presentation of it's lies and manipulative propaganda.

And, my local public radio stations wonder why I refuse to support them any longer....

Wait for it there's a new one. Obama said something over the weekend about embittered people in small towns "clinging" to guns and religion.

Although I wouldn't quite disagree, both are about empowering people who feel powerless, that's just handing more red meat to the Republicans.

Obama=Islam

Obama=Rev. Wright

Obama=Atheism

Or all of the above.

I'm from PA. Not Rural PA, but PA none the less. I've been living in MD for almost twenty years. But I can honestly say that you're damned fucking right I'm bitter. I'm bitter on numerous levels. I'm bitter from the fact that Republicans corruption has destroy the government. I'm bitter that the President feels the need to watch my house from orbit. I'm bitter that the Congress hasn't done it's primary duty of protecting us from the President. I'm bitter that I'm paying almost $400 a month for gas to get myself back and forth to work. I'm bitter that the house I bought two years ago is worth about $30,000 less than what I've got a mortgage on it for. I'm bitter that when a years after a hurricane destroyed a huge section of America we've still got displaced people living in toxic trailers given to them by a government that has never been held accountable. I'm bitter that we entered a war solely for the purpose of making rich men rich and keeping George W. Bush in the white house. I'm bitter that people like Dick Cheney are still lying to us about connections between Iraq and Al Quaeda. I'm bitter that 4000+ of my countrymen have died in a foreign hell hole that we created for bullshit reasons. I'm bitter that my fellow Americans are too fucking cowardly to arrest the President outright for felony violation of FISA, defrauding the United States government and for authorizing torture and I'm bitter that 28% percent of my countrymen still support him. Above all though, I am bitter that Congress has not yet stepped up and created the Articles of Impeachment for Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Gonzales ( you can still be impeached after you leave office ).

Thus far I've yet to see a Candidate who will do anything about any of those situations. Obama will get my vote, if only because he's the lesser of three evils. So I don't have a problem with Obama saying people are bitter, because as it seems to me, he's the only one freaking paying attention to what's really going on in this country.

I went away for one weekend and I have no clue where the story is in this. I thought it was truthful, but the media seems to be foaming at the mouth about it. It seems that those who are outraged by this are the elites who have no idea what its like in rural Indiana (where I happened to be from). I guess I'm a southern Indiana elitist at this point.

How can repugs claim Democrats are elitist when the core constituency are working people and union members, whereas the repugs are for tax-breaks for the wealthiest 5%?

The only thing that bothers me about Obama is that he says things that are absloutely right on, then backs down as soon as the media starts to spin them. Of course people are bitter, and ignorance may lead them to vote based on religion or gun control or hate. They did that when they were not bitter too, so what's the big deal. He doesn't need to back down. Tell it the way it is for a change!

Obama said that he could have chosen his words better but that the facts he spoke about are entirely true.

How can that be construed as backing down? He stood by what he said 100% but admitted that the phrasing gave an opening for John McCain then disparaged Hillary for using Republican talking points.

Sounds dead on to me.

I agree. If anything was learned from Kerry is to answer the bullshit immediately. I watched Scarborough this morning and Hannity last night. They are real pigs and all we need is Hillary helping them. I often stated in this site that I would vote for whichever candidate won the primary. Now, after listening to Hillary, I would rather not vote at all then vote for her. I believe she would eat her young to win. Now she is talking about how she used to hunt and how Obama is an elitist and out touch. Randi Rhodes was right, she is a Bitch.

Wait for it there's a new one. Obama said something over the weekend about embittered people in small towns "clinging" to guns and religion.

Although I wouldn't quite disagree, both are about empowering people who feel powerless, that's just handing more red meat to the Republicans.

Obama=Islam

Obama=Rev. Wright

Obama=Atheism

Or all of the above.

All folks are not so ingorant.

We already know the Republican/FOX playbook. Use the race card.

The war, the horrible economic state, the health care and housing crisis', and the MSM wants so desperately to create a story out of this bullshit. We are so used to being placated by politicians that when one tells the truth on difficult subject matter, he gets torched. What I find most fascinating is that many of the agenda driven fake angry bloggers at this site are in full agreement with noted "progressive" Bill Kristol, who also thinks Obama insulted "common folk". Aaahahahahahaha!!!!!

WTF? The old guy knows Obama spoke the truth and admits he himself is bitter but he isn't gonna vote for him. What is wrong with people like this? What the hell do they want?

Never underestimate the capacity of the angry white male to keep on voting against his own interest. Several generations of GOPers owe their senate/congress seats to that.

The ironic part is that Obama was 100% correct regarding the use of wedge issues by the powers that be. The idiot cracker proved his point all too painfully.

Remember Archie Bunker? Would he vote for Obama? No. But I and sure he is a nice hard working person and I respect him. He is the past and the youth are the future. This is the internet age.

Hillary talks 'cracker': her days of guns and food stamps
.
Hillary says. "When in Pennsylvania cracker land, talk cracker."
"That is in no way condescending" she said, "It's simple political play book, page one tactics. Talk guns and beer."
"Barack, however, is different" she said. "Even tho' he was telling a known version of cracker truth, he used a five syllable word plus complicated syntax. That, my friends, is elitist. Knee slappin' elitist."
"Back when Momma, Poppa and I were on welfare.......and the revenuers were looking for our stills........"

Greg- Go back and read what you just wrote. You're talking about Archie Bunker like he actually existed.

But it sounds like you're implying Archie wouldn't have voted for Obama because he was a racist; and for some reason in your previous post which you don't identify, you claim it's the Republicans/Fox now playing the race card. It was Obama here playing the race card in his quoted statements. And it was The Huffington Post that broke this story, not Fox.

Yes, it is the internet age. What a wonderful forum to express your disgust at the people you look down on, the 'idiot crackers' you use to prove the point that 'yes, they are bitter, but what the hell do they want and why the hell don't they vote for Obama?' and 'never undrestimate the capacity of the angry white male to keep on voting against his own interest'. The internet is a wonderful place to goad those people into thinking like you do by doing what Obama does, condecscending to them and mischaracterizing them.

I guess that strategy didn't work so well in the TV age. But this is the internet age. It's gonna be different now.

Blogswarm. If only Mondale, Dukakis, Gore and Kerry had that around this guy in Altoona would be happy as a lark. Heck, even old Archie would be fat and happy too. He'd probably want to lay a big fat kiss on old Barack; just like the one Sammy Davis, Jr. laid on him.

Hillbillary crossed a line with this latest smear. She is getting taken down in Pennsylvania, so in desperation she grabs GOP talking points. That give validity to this non-story in the MSM eyes. McCain couldnt get traction with this story without her. She is a disgrace to the democratic party.
