Go Home

If there was ever a perfect example of the John McCain media double-standard, the TODAY show Friday morning provided it. When confronted with the hard-hitting DNC ad highlighting his utterly delusional view on the strength of the US economy, McCain, with a few insignificant caveats, simply changes his position from "we're better off" to "no, we're not better off." That's all it takes when you're Saint John McCain: you can flip and you can flop away with impunity because you know you will never be called on it.

McCain in DNC Ad: I think we're better off overall.

Viera: So, Senator, you do not believe we're better off by any means than we were eight years ago?

McCain: Oh, no. No.

There you go.

Why do I get the feeling that I'm looking at the next POTUS???

McSame is getting a free ride from the "liberal" media while Billary and Obama tear each other apart.

This is not going to end well.

In his defence, I think John was referring to his new overalls.

We have to beat the Republicans and the media this year... Lucky for us, this is the first time youtube, blogs, and places like the Daily Show are calling out the media on its BS.... We'll see..

I don't really think we can refer to this as "flip flopping" any more. Flip flopping implies that John was firmly on a position and then flopped off of it. Currently, McInsane is just blurting out whatever he feels is the appropriate political response regardless of reality or what he has said in the past.

Like a child saying whatever's necessary to get the piece of candy.

Clearly, the state of the economy has changed since that DNC ad first aired.

This is the kind of loathsome two-faced lying that only Republicans are capable of. This lie alone should disqualify this woefully shameless horror of a "man" from being president in the eyes of every American voter. McCain cheated on his wife and is now married to the women who was his mistress.......who just happens to be a multi-millionairess. I guess its clear who adulterers and gigolo gold-diggers want to be the next president.

theWalrus's picture

This election *should* be a walk in the park for the Dems. Look at this guy - he's admitted he knows nothing about finances and the economy (ching!), he's married at the hip to all the disastrous Bush policies (ching!), he spent 5 years being tortured using sophisticated Russian mind propaganda (ching!), he's presented NO new, fresh, exciting ideas (ching!). If Obama doesn't win (I'm assuming he's the nominee) we are in very big deep doodoo.

Many years from now books will be written about the Decline of America in the Bush Years.

He's all FLOP. nothing he has ever said sounds like he gives a FLIP about the real state of the economy or the direction we are going in.

McCain only meant rich people are better off. Those not wealthy are not better off. I think the media realize this. They do a fine job. Now go get the Senator some more donuts.

What economy? I spoke with a food wholesaler, and he said he “fully expects food shortages, by this summer.”
He said he’s been hit with multiple price hikes, along with warnings that he may not get his products at all at some point.

I hope someone is saving all these clips. They are going to be valuable before the end of the year.

McCain is so desperate to be the president that he really will say anything anytime if he thinks it will help his campaign. He just doesn't grasp things like Youtube, computers etc. He's running in a electronic world that came along too fast and apparently too late for him.

Someone linked to a youtube vid where McCain was asked what kind of computer he used and he answered he didn't use a computer, Cindy took care of that sort of stuff. I'm betting one or both of Obama's kids can use a computer.

This is one more problem with his age, he seems unwilling or unable to learn something new. That's not good.

Why is the media so easy on McSame?

Oh, do you think it has something to do with the fact that the media is controlled by a few Ridiculously rich guys?

What candidate do you think a Multi-Millionaire wants to win.

Hard to say. Food wholesalers are likely to play to the idea of shortages, it's good for getting people to think about more bulk purchases. But increasing costs are certainly coming. The WSJ even suggested people stock up while it's still cheap.

McCain is doing his best to play a weak hand. Stagflation has kicked in thanks to borrow and spend economic and a war fought on credit, there is the war against Iraq while the perpetrators of 911 were forgotten in Afghanistan, and there is the issue of health care.

So, lets talk about elitism, Obama's preacher (versus Hagee), and any other nonsense.

I ship high value one off items via UPS, they must go overnight air. The prices are going through the stratosphere.

There is not enough margin to absorb these costs.

If there actually are food shortages, then the party of the huns will have an even bigger problem.

actually what we're looking at is another potential ad by Obama or the DNC on McCain's chronic flip flopping. so what if airhead Viera doesnt follow up on it, she is after all on a morning enterntainment fluff show, not a real news show. it shows hes a classic politician, very much a washington insider. he will say anything and do anything to get elected. period.

Man you hit the bullseye with that one. I live under the covenants of one of those associations. If your gig is to bully your neighbors than a Homeowners Association gives you unbridled power to do so.
BTW McCain is no longer anal-retentive.............Depends and plenty of baby powder get him through those long days of campaigning.

The man is a compromised candidate. He is not John "Straight-Talk-Express" McCain from 2000, he is the Bizarro John McCain that is trying to get the short coat-tails of Bush, while still trying to distance himself from him. Don't get suckered that McCain will be a tough opponent, he is compromised and as fragile as an egg-shell if hit correctly. The problem is that he and Clinton are a part of the same machine of yesteryear, and a continuation of either will be a continuation of both. Even though Obama is a politician, he is just what this country needs in a complex world. I just hope Obama will end this charade they are pulling, because they are one and the same.

Off topic, but about McCain. I'd love to see the following questions asked of him:
Senator, you recently voted to approve torture. Why? (The only real answer he can give is to say we need the information we get from it). OK Senator, but isn't information valuable only when it is actually reliable information? (Of course). Then Senator, do you believe the information we gain through torture is as reliable as the statements you made after being tortured while a prisoner of war in North Vietnam?

Seeing him try to spin that one would be priceless.

"So, Senator McCain, you now recant your statement that it would be fine if the United States were to stay in Iraq for 100 years?"
