The John McCain ‘Maverick’ Ad: I DON’T Approve This Message
http://satiricalpolitical.com/?p=1765
I read complaints about the lack of activity on C&L lately and I have to wonder if it's because of the missing quote and refresh buttons.
I'm still waiting for John McCain's plan to end America's dependence on foreign oil.
I wonder if it involves budweiser beer?

Can we run a car on budweiser now? Not according to the DUI squad.
Obama takes Guam. MS realizes it doesn't own everything. China bad-mouths the Dalia Lama. A first for Saudia Arabia: men and women attend the same concert.
Lawmakers are more concerned with toy guns than the real ones.
John, good post.
As to ANWAR and oil in general - dont forget
http://www.fossil.energy.gov/programs/reserves/npr/publications/npr_stra...
You CANNOT exclude this from any considerations. The US had more oil in equivalent barrels in oil shale than anyone else in the world has oil. A minimum of 1.5 trillion barrel equivalents. But, it will be expensive. This isnt about simply 'using' this oil, it is about gaining a competative edge with it. That will require oil to (probably) cost in the neighborhood of $150 per barrel. If that happens, then suddenly the US becomes the 21st century Saudi Arabia - with nukes.
You dont believe the oil companies or this criminal government has forgotten about 1.5 trillion barrels of oil do you? Do you wonder why the government doesnt want to end its dependence on oil? Do you think they are just evil or stupid? They may be evil, but they arent stupid. Control of the world potentially lay in the Rockies if they can get the world paying $150+ per barrel.
Would they talk about it? Absolutely not. But you should. Convervationists are facing the largest profits in the history of the planet standing between them and saving the environment. I'm not sure people understand the magnitude of the impending struggle. ANWAR is pocket change. I suspect its main function is to break the back of those protecting the environment. If then can get ANWAR they will stripmine the Rockies - Colorado, Utah and Wyoming.

Some years ago, while on vacation in Florida, I saw a simple solution in one of the tabloids. It weaned America of oil using beans. The plan was, a bus run on human gas. People would be fed a massive diet of beans, and then ride the bus. Tubes were in place to collect the "natural gas" produced. But the MSM has been silent on the idea.
thank you, jane hamsher! great job!
so, according to carpenter, there will be no working with the democrats... absolutely no consideration for the "people"...

mcAncient is just short of qualifying to be a traitor to this country. He, along with Reverend Wright, served time in the US Navy. Of course, mcAnciet was a POW and tortured where he said anything they wanted him to say....due to his "non torture" that they freely exercised on him.
His body and mind are old and broken, tortured and twisted; and he is NO f*ckin' hero.....please. If you were kept alive in a toilet for however many years with "enhanced interrogation methods" and served in your military while you were swirling in the toilet....would YOU be a "hero". I don't think so. You would be "a survivor".
It's time to pull out the stops. This guy, much like Hilllary, and to a lesser extent Obama, will do anything to get the White House. He will say whatever it takes to get him A vote.
A piece of shit in my book. His wife waited for him...did HE wait for her? Nope. He shacked up with this rich "elitist bitch" and then married in to the money.

Helloooo xiotes.
John McCain does not want to "control" the North Carolina republicans anymore than he want to control his own temper. All those great speeches about being civil and not throwing mud are just that, all talk and no action. He wants to be seen by his captive media audience as being too much of a good guy to engage in such hardball politics. He is saying one thing in public and just the opposite in private. He wants to be able to wring his hands or wash his hands in public proclaiming that he tried, but "they" would not listen. The last republican that ran for president and did not engage in personal attack campaigns was Dwight D. Eisenhower in the early 50s. President McCain will make the Schrub look like a genius in comparison. According to John McCain, he don't know much about history, economics, math and social science that he took so long ago.

The Republican Party is full of slime and McCain is a liar and a hypocrite, but there is no way that he can be expected to "control" the scum in his party.

Yeah, you'll probably get deleted (naughty boy), but it was an interesting read.
The NYT finally is demanding McCain come clean with a full medical report. He has not done so since 2000, and it is unbelievable that someone with malignant metastatic melanoma has not done so and yet is the nominee for the Republican party. I speculate that he has had a (prophylactic) radical cervical lymphnode dissection, but without a full report one has to presume that he is hiding something
bad, and yet no one is talking about this. Generally the prognosis for such a disease (if that is what it is) is extremely poor and his advanced age does not help.
But we need to know exactly what stage the disease is and extrapolate whether want to vote for a man with such a poor prognosis. Lieberman will probably be his VP, which means that if the prognosis is poor, we will have a radical extremist President Lieberman to contend with (as opposed to a radical extremist President McCain). Yet the polls say that much of the electorate is ignorant of this.
Carpenter is odd. I first heard her a couple days ago on a Bloggingheads thing with Bill Scher and she sounded like one of the decent conservatives with opinions of her own...then she hits the airwaves with her talking points.

The thing about living in something other than a Democracy is that it is done all the time by hundreds if millions of people around the world (including us.)
I guess what really matters is how you respond to that.
Looks like sluggoJD has identified the Obama supporter who doctored the "War Room" video that got on the A list and then went viral and smeared Clinton right before the IN primary.
That's part of the story. The rest of the story would be how that video got all over the A list without being vetted in any way -- no transcript, no provenance, just a YouTube of what turned out to be doctored and potentially libelous copyright material. YouTube's a big place, and its search functions are notoriously bad, so people were told about this, and I'm guessing by someone trusted enough that due diligence was skimped on.
So how'd that happen? Because back in the day when we has a media critique, and there seemed to be a level of transparency, this wouldn't have happened. Any lessons learned here?

You give new meaning to the old adage: Invincible ignorance. Amanda's "comebacks", while not delivered in the shrill style of Coulter or others in wingnutopia spewing and spinning the GOP talking points remain incredulous here, there and everywhere. Comparing Jane Hamsher to Amanda Carpenter is futile and reveals only one thing: like McCain your failed snark is nothing if not embarrassing Roverian bush league spin absent of truth much less critical thinking skills.
uncle joe hussein mccarthy @ 41:
Two things are clear. First, uncle joe hussein mccarthy is an idiot. And, second, McCain is a hypocrite. I don't expect him to "control" the fringes of his party -- remember the Republicans are constantly trying to claim that if someone makes an offensive comment on a lefty blog that means the blogger too is a hatemonger. It's nonsense. But there is nothing wrong with bloggers condemning such comments and deleting them. The kind of garbage that "uncle joe" wrote is pointless and he should be granted his wish (deletion).
Rather than claim that McCain is weak because he can't control the Republicans in North Carolina, Democrats should be pointing out that this is starting to look like a pattern for the Saint. He condemns Hagee's hate speech, but clings to his endorsement; he objects to the North Carolina ad, but not strongly enough for anyone to pretend the NC GOP is going to listen to him.
I repeat -- Jane is wrong. McCain isn't weak and feeble. He's a sleazy opportunist. And it's time the American people realized what a phony he is.
However, it should be recognized that surrogates are doing the dirty work of candidates in both parties. From my perspective, the Republicans are far more dishonest and scummier than the Democrats, but the fact that the Dems do it just gives the MSM permission to play their absurd "balanced" coverage game.
Many years ago, I saw Pink Floyd play in Montreal. Roger Waters, I think it was, told the crowd to FU when he was trying to sing a ballad and they were making too much noise. I never forgot that, even though my memory of anything else that occurred that evening is zilch, if you get my drift.
PS
Jane has really missed the point. Calling McCain "weak" and "feeble" is pointless. McCain represents a threat because he is going to get lots of votes from people who don't think he's weak and feeble and never are going to think that. However, they might be convinced of his hypocrisy if it is pointed out enough.
I can see it now ( picture the monty python skit) Mccrazy: don't do those bad ads ( wink wink nod nod)
Is your wife a goer wink wink nod nod say no more say no more
What a shadow of the former C&L, late night. Oh, well - that's progress now that the GOP is on the run. :-/
As for McSame and his faux "outrage" over the ads in NC, what a load. He spouts some KKKRove talking points so that they may "officially" denounce the ad, yet the GOP has no intention of stopping. It is an engineered dispute - as are they all. How ironic that this occurs in the same states that ran the "black baby" telephone campaign against McSame in 2000.
I'll give the GOP one thing, they are masters of subterfuge and organization in addition to being a bunch of evil, self-serving, avaricious fucktards. I use to go to a local Atlanta "liberal political group" - until I figured out that is was an ineffectual little cliquish group of circle jerking asswipes whose deepest thoughts involved what chicks they could most easily impress with their feigned "intelligence". Man, has Newt Gingrich made a lasting impression here! With these guys representing the "reality crowd", it's no wonder the GOP has consumed the nation in record time. They have an agenda, and they follow through.
There isn't a damned thing gonna change until you "reality based community" dweebs start kicking some ass - and I don't see any of that going on here or in the Democrat party.
Fucking wining, keyboard commando wimps - Grow a spine. I've done battle with segments of this faction while everyone around me either joined ranks with the enemy for profit, or ran away and hid. Unfuckingbelievable. All hat - no cattle - Just like GWB. I'll give the CA dock workers union one thing, at least they stood up - if only for a day. Leave it to a bunch of roughnecks to first wake to the reality that if you don't start doing something risky, it's gonna be too late - assuming it isn't already. They've plotted your behaviours and percieved limits of reaction, and have planned accordingly. You've got to take them out by surprise - hard and fast.

I'm new - Is this a pro Hillary or pro Obama site?
**thump thump**
As soon as Amanda started babbling all my glasses broke. Could that have been recorded on Memorex? - What a sgrill voice.
Dems take house seat in blood red district held by Republicans for 33 years.

Another bad omen for presidential candidate John McBush and the Republican radicals.
I don't think he wants to control them. It's just a big act-let someone else do your dirty work and then act appalled. Bush used the same strategy.

Correct me if i am wrong but wasn't the Chicago Convention in 1968 the one where the police rioted and beat non violent protesters into bloody pulps?
This is not something i want to recreate. This is something i want to avoid.
i wonder if indiana jones is still alive. he'd be about 108.
bet he'd endorse obama...

There is no such thing as a pro-Hillary site.
whats the difference between clinton and obama? she sets to pee hes able to stand and do it!lol
this comment bugged me all night, and I have to say something about it.
I have a similar injury I got during my 17 year 'career' as an auto mechanic. I did it to myself - when it happened, I knew it was happening because of the contortionist position I was in, but I kept going because I had to finish the job and make the customer happy.
I had no access to health care then, so I ate handfuls of tylenol and kept working, for another 3 years. Eventually it got to the point I could no longer work, and with no medical records a workman's comp claim would just get laughed at. I STILL have no access to health care, and now I don't even have the generous $300/week paychecks I did when I was working.
Still eating tylenol, not really helping at all at this point. Can't sleep more than a few hours at a time because of pain, can't do much of anything. Can't find a job in this wonderful economy (and wonderful part of the country - 'southern hospitality' is a sham, be very skeptical whenever you hear somebody use that phrase) that doesn't involve lifting heavy shit for 10 hours a day. Got denied for disability because I don't have any medical history to back up my claims. Can't even get unemployment benefits because I had the honor to quit my last job when I couldn't do the work, instead of waiting around to get fired.
John McCain is still able to work, still has all-u-can-eat health care, and if he didn't, he could probably just go buy his own hospital. John McCain gets worshipped as a 'hero', while people like me all over the country are told to go away and be quiet.
John McCain's America is my bamboo cell.
What's so funny about Jane's comment re. McCain willing to change his opinion based upon who he's talking to...because he's so desperate to get elected...sounds exactly like Mr. Obama. Sorry, but it does. Talk to progressives, claim you're against the war, yet vote to fund it. Talk to Fox, disavow any connection to Rev. Wright. Hillary does it too. They are all the same in this way, so don't try and single out McCant as the only one.

Ok, i will only single him out as the only one who is definitely NOT getting my vote.
"free market approach to health care" = Most Americans remain uninsired or underinsured.
Amanda is a brainless winch, she did laugh when Jane said that McCain or Edwards would not be covered. In fact, she laughs when Janes makes her and McCain sound stupid.
Clearly, those who support Republicans are mental
McCain is weak and feeble! That is all that needs to be said. If McCain's wife wasn't so filthy rich and elitist we would not even be talking about this assbag- John would be writing bullshit stories about his POW experiences and that would be it. End of story!
John McCain is nothing but an aging opportunist funded by a sugar momma-stepford wife who wants to reside at 1600 Pennsylvania avenue and she will spend every dime she has to in order to make that happen!
There is not much of anything else regarding the McCain's other than what I just said.
If the McCains wish to swim in the political pool- it would best for them to stay behind the blue floaty ropes- the deep end of the pool is where people swim and can formulate cognitive thoughts.
Geeze, its so simple!
xoites (Bitter before Country was Cool) defends Constitution @ 85:
It isnt water cooler conversation to be sure - it certainly doesnt come with a cool pose - but it is fact.
A minimum of 1.5 trillion barrel equivalents of oil in the Rockies. Saudi Arabia has 200 billion. They even know how to get it and process it. Its just a matter of cost. Not just the cost to extract for use - but they, as business people - want a competative advantage. If they get that, they run the entire show with those energy reserves.
You may ignore or forget about information like this - the energy companies and the government wont. YOu do the math - 1.5 trillion barrel equivalents at say $150 per barrel is 225 trillion dollars - and that is conservative.
Flat earth? How about facts. The oil is there and it is there in those quantities and it is know how to get it and process it.
The link I posted was a government link by the way. If you cant accept facts, then you are just another sheeple - sorry.
Ummm , folks ; McStupid is weak and feeble.
What else can you call some old douchebag who reneges on every promise and supposed stance that they claim to have ?
Oh ............A Republican.
Amanda Carpenter clearly aspires to be the next Ann Coulter, only minus the gaunt, anorexic look. She's quite pretty, and smiles a LOT, and can maybe exude a trace of warmth and doesn't come off as some wicked, blood-guzzling witch as, I swear, Coulter does.
Nonetheless, there's still some obnoxious arrogance and know-it-all-ness to Carpenter, and she's still a committed, robotic right-winger.
Check out her vids at TownHall.com, where she does "The 5" (hmmm.....ripped off Yahoo lately?), and be prepared to be stunned by her telegenic smile and hair - oh the hair!!!!

chris [not the troll] @ 113, I hear you loud and clear! I'm slowly headed for the same situation. 48 now and not likely this abused body can make it to SS retirement age, no medical history to back up disability claim and no chance of health care to get that medical history. Workers of America - breaking our backs so the ultra wealth can live their lives of luxury while turning the screws on the workers.
Okay, I have to go there. Amanda is a stupid bitch-whore who obviously hasn't experienced a good fucking ever in her lifetime. She is miserable to the point that she is trapped in a right-wing denial cycle in which she never gets sex and never will without so much complaining. She wants control over a reality that she can't control. I'd spell "control" with another vowel and an extra "l" but I like being able to post my opinions here!
Well done, Jane.
tyree -

What's the difference between "McCain't" (tm) and Clinton?
tyree, are you just itching for a little flame war between us so we can get banned again? ;-)

Look at all the ads on the threads and on the side. That should give you a clue.
