'War Inc.' May 19th Advanced Screening Ticket Giveaway: Rachel Maddow Q&A in NY
By John Amato Wednesday May 14, 2008 1:20pm
I've been posting about John Cusack's new film (War Inc.) including a very cool live chat over the last few weeks because I loved it and think it deserves a much wider audience. It's the story of a disillusioned hit-man that works for a Blackwater-type corporation on steroids that attacks a country, sets up a profit-based green zone and gives away complimentary gift bags to every journalist they meet.
C&L--along with New Crime Productions--is offering a free ticket giveaway for an advance screenings in NY and LA on Monday---May 19, at 7:30 PM. It's important that we have those theaters filled to the max so the film will get distributed to a much wider audience.
<correction> The Opening of the film is May 23rd

Unfortunately, I live in Louisiana. Otherwise I'dve signed up. When (if) it gets to full-scale distribution, I'd go in a heartbeat. I saw Lions before Lambs, which was bad-ass. I hope this is as good as the other one. And...frist
Seems like Michael Moore is going to make a followup to Fahrenheit 9-11 too. I wonder what he could add that would justify a sequel.
You mean we've all been faked out by a lot of red ink?
Rebel Patriot @ 2:
kindanasty rice topless scenes?
ysbaddaden @ 4:
Must...get...lightsaber....forks...
Who would have ever thought that Hillary Duff and Ben Kingsley would ever be in the same movie.
So the advanced screening on the 19th is invitation only, or can I purchase a ticket?
General_Rennenkampf @ 5:
So just the thought of her topless, and you want to polish your light saber?
ysbaddaden @ 8:
Hell, no. I mean a fork with 4 lightsabers for tongs so that I can stab my eyes out!
Wheeeeee! I'm a lucky audience member!
Rebel Patriot @ 2:
if he can make me laff at the absurdity of everything that has occured subsequent to his first flick, it will be worth it
plus, everytime moore puts out a film the wingnuts go nuts, and thats always good for a laff too
ysbaddaden @ 4:
That's really nasty. PUKE
I saw it the other day (Bittorrent).
It was funny.
mininova.com or pirates bay has it.
hey, that's pretty cool - i just had a short film playing at the same theater a week ago.
Anyway, on topic, I'm going to try and make it. The Q&A should be intriguing.

I don't think its a good thing for him to put out a follow up film. The only people who are going to see it are the people who are already in agreement with him. So the only thing its going to do is allow an opportunity for the media to further ignore the important issues and focus on more trival bullshit. He had a good thing going the first time around, but i don't feel this time around is going to help the cause at all.
Hollywood is far too complicit in propaganda and have used their weight to elect officials such as Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Arnold Schwartzeneggar and a host of other loser idiots who have brought nothing but misery and even more stupidity into the leadership of this country.
I wouldn't trust a Hollywood movie to deliver any kind of message of appeasement other than its original scam which is to give the people of this country a false hope that we are being heard.
Hollywood had its chance to influence the world into a better way- but instead they sold us us all shitty politicians and charged us a fortune for it.
Fuck Hollywood!
Mark Leyner? Is that the same Mark Leyner who wrote "My Cousin, My Gastroenterologist", and "Tooth Imprints on a Corn Dog"?
If so, this film may take non-sequitur to a level not seen before in the mass media. (And Jeremy Piskar must have had the job of maintaining some semblance of linearity and plot.)
I love John Cusack as an actor and I agree with his politics. This movie is terrible. The only highlight in this movie is when Joan is onscreen. Sorry guys.......watch Catch22 for war satire.
How come screenings only ever seem to happen in New York and Los Angeles?
What about San Francisco? We're a nice big city too? : )
Peace, Love and...can't wait to catch this film!

I dont know, five years of 'Mission Accomplished' is worth a movie or two.
ferrofluid @ 20:
And Sir David Frost's interview with ex PM Benzair Bhutto last november with it's OBL revelation is worthy of a movie.
ferrofluid @ 21:
would be worthy of a C&L diary entry too.
ferrofluid @ 20:
Fine, but have someone other than Michael Moore behind it. My point isn't the subject matter - lord knows we have more than enough to work with.
Get Stephanie Miller to do the West Coast opening!
Thank you for posting on this- very exciting...so many good movies coming out right now..
How many times are you allowed to enter the War Inc. giveaway?????????
