The Word: The Lexicon Artist

Stephen Colbert delineates the way that John McCain attempts to diversify and distinguish himself from George Bush: by the way he characterizes his stances.

It's no secret that one of John McCain's biggest challenges as a candidate is distinguishing himself from President Bush.  I'm not sure why he's eager to spurn President Bush's supporters.  I mean, that's walking away from almost 29% of the American electorate and nearly half the Bush children.

But he's so different from Bush already.  The only issues they agree on are education, immigration, Iraq, abortion, Supreme Court judges, Social Security, tax breaks for the wealthy, wiretapping, trade, healthcare, the Middle East, same sex marriage and Medicare.

Forgot torture.

Big John McCain is basically okay with torture.

The report is struggling to remain fresh. They've become to regimented.

Clever, very clever..."The Word" is probably some of the best writing out there.

he's being told what to be and where to be. that is move all over the place extreme right, moderate right,right,centrist.......that's why the party has an identity problem....25%GOP not happy with any of their candidates...mcChange needs to court the independent vote which is about 19% of electorate of that 60% are women

Scary % still behind him .......

Speaking as one in the TV biz and who has worked with some of the very best,
yes, they have some truly great writers. Some days are better than others, of
course - but, nevertheless, these guys are as good as it gets.

and what about your freshness rating?

could it be that you've become... moribund?

Look up the definitions. Colbert is right. McSame is using the words incorrectly.

You want to see a comedy show struggling to stay fresh? Just watch F_x News.

That's the biggest one for me.

OUCH!!! I just watched the clip. That was brutal.

Colbert took McCain apart in four minutes and fifty-four seconds.

It is almost too easy. McCain is like a Michael jackson joke these days. Comedians should set their sights a little higher than a person who basically writes the jokes for them.

I feel nothing but pity for John McCain. I believe he cries himself to sleep every night over how much of his soul (if he had one to begin with) he's sold for the sole purpose of being beaten like a rented mule in the general Presidential election.

colbert is simply the best

that's what concerns me it's so frickin obvious

He's transcendental to be sure.

Good to see all the Stephenist here worshipping at his complete Colbertaisation of the McPain issue ......

It is refreshing to see Colbert do what he does best. MSM always treats McCain with kid gloves. The way they treat Michelle Obama compared with Cindy McCain is so biased. Go Colbert!

Thing about tricking yourself out as a shizoid for mass-consumption...is there's such a good demographic there.

Big John's got most of the old thirty-percenters in his pocket. The vidiots in the country (outside of the 30%) are numerous. But what percentage? Hmmm. 20% more gets you the election if you push their play-button.

Colbert and The Word. It just doesn't get any better than that!

I love the word. Colbert and co. pure genius.

I have got to go back to another show. I went to the one last June with Ron Paul ansd all his crazy followers. It was fun.

I heard recently (Bill Press show) that McCain graduated at the bottom of his navy class, (5th lowest).
What was Chimpy's graduation rank? Perhaps there is another way these two dunces are alike.

Colbert is brilliant and McCain is going to serve up a Democratic landslide.

Colbert is letting out all the stops. Best show on television both in terms of comedy, content, message, and intent.

Colbert rules!
