Just remember that it was Reverend Ted who snorted meth he paid for with church offerings off the gay hooker's dick. AND it was GOP Senator Craig who was trolling for anonymous gay sex in the airport restroom. Now THAT'S family values!
Let's just say, for the sake of argument, that the idea of two men having sex repulses me. (It doesn't, i am just not into it.) What is it that would make me hate a gay man? What possible reason or excuse would i have? I don't have to have sex with a gay man. I don't have to watch a gay couple have sex. I don't even have to be friends with a gay man if i choose not to. So what is the problem?
Don't tell me it is a sin. It isn't and you won't convince me otherwise so hold your breath.

Hey, by chance did you find the BBC article on McCain's wet fart, I mean wet start?
Here's an author who describes his version of events surrounding the McCain wet start phenomenon...
"McCain’s most horrendous loss occurred in 1967 on the USS Forrestal. Well, not horrendous for him. The starter motor switch on the A4E Skyhawk allowed fuel to pool in the engine. When the aircraft was “wet-started,” an impressive flame would shoot from the tail. It was one of the ways young hot-shots got their jollies. Investigators and survivors took the position that McCain deliberately wet-started to harass the F4 pilot directly behind him. The cook off launched an M34 Zuni rocket that tore through the Skyhawk’s fuel tank, released a thousand pound bomb, and ignited a fire that killed the pilot plus 167 men. Before the tally of dead and dying was complete, the son and grandson of admirals had been transferred to the USS Oriskany."

I don't think it was the BBC. It turns out it was from Soviet Russia TV. Should be as reliable as ours. :)
One aspect of the "Family Values" campaign I've not seen mentioned is the fact that it focusses on the family as the fundamental building block of our society, rather than the individual or the community.
So, protection of the rights of the individual is sacrificed on the altar of Family Values.
And anyone not part of a 2-parent heterosexual nuclear family is excluded from consideration. Singles, widows, widowers, gays, lesbians, unmarried divorcees, orphans ..
And surreptitiously the role of the community is ignored. Throughout its expansion corporate capitalism has replaced community-based cooperative solutions with corporate fee-based solutions. So casting individuals as members of a family rather than members of a Community furthers the Corporate agenda.
"Family Values" .. brilliant Madison Avenue mythmaking ..

You are exactly correct and the problem is that Ozzie and Harriet were a fantasy in the 1950s and they are a fantasy now. We can't construct a functioning society on the way some of us would "like it" to be. We have to come to grips with how it really is.

Iraq sues corporations(including Chevron) over the oil-for-food debacle. If Republicans want less people to end up like Terry Schiavo, then they'll have to argue for gun control. Verona allows people to make down payments on gas. The NRA wants to swiftboat Obama.
CT scans might give cancer to kids.
Maliki's hometown is none to happy over our last raid.
Well, at least we got rid of Sick Rantorum, who said that if gay marriages were allowed, straight people would stop getting married. He also called the gay marriage issue "just like 9/11," and preventing gays from marrying the "ultimate homeland security."
I have a new set of initials for the modern Republican Party. Forget the GOP of Lincoln; it's as dead as Lincoln.

Been looking forward to running into you since the Fisa debacle on June 20th.
Hey, xoites. Very, very busy. Probably will be through the summer. I really shouldn't be online now, but my brain needs a break from writing up legal materials.
I'll try to check in every now and then. Naturally, I manage to miss out on the gun ruling, Obama's FISA, Congress' FISA, etc. Perhaps if I stay away too long, the whole country will collapse?

So Joe is saying that all the money spent on homeland security and all of the other measures that Bush initiated won't protect us anyway. WTF?
No, he is saying that if you vote for Obama he won't know what to do if and when we are attacked. He is saying that he and he alone has a cape in his closet. With leotards and retards who believe him, no doubt.

Nah, non-causa pro-causa thinking. :)
I am very sorry you are busy but i would appreciate if you checked out Repeal FISA. I started it on June 21st and it is literally open to everyone to join and blog on. I was hoping you would be interested. I value your opinions. We have at least one lawyer blogging on it already. It is supposed to be a rekindling of participatory democracy. We are in desperate need of it.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A federal appeals court has slammed the reliability of U.S. government intelligence documents, saying just because officials keep repeating their assertions does not make them true.
A three-judge panel from the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington likened the Bush administration's case to a line in an 1876 nonsense poem by Lewis Carroll: "I have said it thrice: What I tell you three times is true."
..
The judges criticized the government for offering unsubstantiated evidence, and referred to Carroll's poem,"The Hunting of the Snark," in which the line is uttered by a pompous character called the Bellman.
"The government suggests that several of the assertions in the intelligence documents are reliable because they are made in at least three different documents," wrote Judge Merrick Garland. "We are not persuaded. Lewis Carroll notwithstanding, the fact the government has 'said it thrice' does not make the allegation true. In fact we have no basis for concluding that there are independent sources for the documents' thrice-made assertions."

Well, the best way to take the attention off the failing of the afghanistan invasion and the Iraq invasion is to invade Iran.
Snark!
"Just the place for a Snark!" the Bellman cried,
As he landed his crew with care;
Supporting each man on the top of the tide
By a finger entwined in his hair.
"Just the place for a Snark! I have said it twice:
That alone should encourage the crew.
Just the place for a Snark! I have said it thrice:
What i tell you three times is true."
The crew was complete: it included a Boots--
A maker of Bonnets and Hoods--
A Barrister, brought to arrange their disputes--
And a Broker, to value their goods.
A Billiard-maker, whose skill was immense,
Might perhaps have won more than his share--
But a Banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care."

Club the republicans to death and use them as the next big thing in bio fuels.

Today, with the Wes Clark bashing, says it all. The media is still on the side of the right wing neocons. We have to be even more vigilant in our efforts.
The Media Industrial Complex prefers not to hamper the people who go out everday and make the wealthy wealthier with mere facts. They prefer a more nuanced appoach to news telling. They want you to know which race to fear and hate or which religious or sexual group to loath. You know, just the basics.
Stop with this tomfoolery or McCain will wake up and yell at you kids. Who am I kidding? He'll sleep right through. Except for the 9 times a night he gets up to pee.

She'd have to be crazy to do that. Wait a minute; if she didnt divorce that sleazeball when the diaper/prostitute crap was revealed, SHE IS CRAZY!!!
If she's staying with him "for the kids", what in the hell is she thinking of?! Why would ANY mother expose her children to such a moral leper, father or not??

Randi Rhodes really bashed Wesley Clark today for questioning McCain's patriotism.
I have not listened to her for a couple weeks and was giving it another chance.
Blamo - she is wrong again, screaming over here callers and telling them off.
I'm sorry to say that I believe Randi has fits like a drunk between. I am not trying to insult her. I feel for her. I listened to her in new york and she was factually correct about 50% of the time. she locks in on her own voice and her own rants and she then will not listen. if the left has a limbaugh, it's her, but certainly she has no malice, just no restraint.
Evidence Faulted in Detainee Case
By WILLIAM GLABERSON
The text of a decision shows some derision for the Bush administration's arguments in the case of a detainee held at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, for more than six years.
The FISA Bill has more than a few bad things buried inside. Kill this Bill and start all over!
The FISA bill---now resting comfortably in a shoebox in Harry Reid's office---contains an odd section (#110 to be precise) that redefines the meaning of "Weapons of Mass Destruction." Said Mcjoan last week:
I wonder how many Senators blithely casting their lot with this bill realize that they're redefining warfare.
There's every chance that the immunity provisions in the bill are unconstitutional. But Congress doesn't know because no Judiciary Committee hearings were held to vet that portion of the bill. Nor were any Defense Committee hearings held to vet this WMD provision.
That's what happens when the oversight muscle of Congress becomes so atrophied. They don't even conduct oversight of themselves. And they don't know what they're voting for.
This is troubling to say the least. So in the interest of shedding light on other components of the FISA bill that have nothing to do with FISA, I tore into the guts of it over the weekend. Here's what else I found:
U.S. prosecutors sought the authority to force the bank to reveal names of American clients with secret accounts.
``The bank is in a very difficult position,'' Blum said. ``If I were advising clients, I'd tell them to come clean; the people who come clean early will probably be allowed to get off with paying the tax, the interest and the penalties. Others could very easily face criminal prosecution.''
A partial amnesty in 2003 followed an investigation into debit and credit cards linked to offshore accounts that included the issuance of John Doe summonses to Visa International Inc. and American Express Co. The amnesty yielded $170 million in taxes, interest and penalties from 1,300 people.
This must be worrying for the Bushco plunderers and thieves, US money ferrets going after Swiss bank accounts connected to American tax payers.
How much does it take before even the most stubborn and dumb Repugs to realize that predators eat their own, when theres no other prey left alive.

Wear your folded monopoly $20 on your lapel in honor of that gloriously amusing day.
And plenty of time to mail some monopoly $20s to McNasty and your fav Repug to help with their campaign costs.
Nothing says it more than a pretend $20 for fake failed candidates.
But wait, given the tendencies of Republicans being strong on "morals", what if it was a male prostitute diapering him? Vitter doesn't specify, probably for plausible deniability. I wonder if that would be a marriage-breaker? XD
What the fuck Obama?
No federal money for religious groups. PERIOD!

On another note, did anyone watch larry King last night with the CEO from Chevron. He stated that we need to drill here in the US to bring the price of gas down. Then a caller called to ask why gas was so expensive in California. CEO said since Calif has it's own gas supply and was completely independent of other sources was the reason it cost more. That and the highest taxed fuel in the nation. I sat there and looked at my wife and said, this guy just contradicted himself. And no one said a word. Went right over Larry Kings head.

I didn't catch Larry King last night...but I know Chevron is one of the most corrupt oil companies.
I am a resident of Louisiana ( I can't help it I was born here) and remember Vitter's campaign ads. He didn't talk issues in his ads just talked about how much he supported "family values". What is amazing to me is why he didn't resign or why there has not be a public outcry here in Louisiana for him to do so. Don't be surprised if he is reelected. Louisiana truely is the northern most Banana Republic.
He says he opposes gay marriage because his wife will divorce him if it's legal. So he's afraid his wife would rather marry a women than stay married to him? I can't say I blame her.
We are constantly reminded that religion is incompatible with the ideals embodied in the United States Constitution. Violently insane Christian extremists hate everything that the United States stands for.
Where is Vitter quoted saying this? If it's a joke, why is it presented as a real quote? People say some absurd things, so I'm (sadly) legitimately confused!
Speaking of pious and moral GOPer's, it looks like Obama is trying to get into the act. I heard it reported on NPR that Obama gave a speech wherein he called for increases in funding for the unConstitutional Bush program to give our tax dollars to churches. He's attempting to ingratiate himself with the religious right and is apparently not concerned about further damge to the Constitutionally established wall seperating church and state.
Taken together with his unconscionable position on FISA, it's looking like Obama is coming out of the closet as an antiConstitutional warrior, now that he's got the Democratic nomination sewed up. I think the man has some serious 'splaining to do.
Did Vitter make sure there is a 'Huggies" clause in this bill?
Maybe Obama Really Meant Small Town Folk Are Vitter

When one is where diapers and which one is doing the toe tap?
These posts are getting a little crude. Eew!
GOP = Gay Old Party

Yeah well he also gives the fudge.
P.D. @ 25:
What is crude is running on a family value platform vowing "never to do anything like Bill Clinton" and having your wife bash Hillary.
harley, Touche! You are right. But, damn! I'm getting too jaded anymore. 7 years of Bush will do that to you!
MountainMan23 @ 26:
You are exactly correct and the problem is that Ozzie and Harriet were a fantasy in the 1950s and they are a fantasy now. We can't construct a functioning society on the way some of us would "like it" to be. We have to come to grips with how it really is.

Randi Rhodes really bashed Wesley Clark today for questioning McCain's patriotism.

Very well could be, i have no way of knowing. I will keep my mind open. I am not yet convinced either way.

Iraq sues corporations(including Chevron) over the oil-for-food debacle. If Republicans want less people to end up like Terry Schiavo, then they'll have to argue for gun control. Verona allows people to make down payments on gas. The NRA wants to swiftboat Obama.

I'll try to check in every now and then. Naturally, I manage to miss out on the gun ruling, Obama's FISA, Congress' FISA, etc. Perhaps if I stay away too long, the whole country will collapse?
Nah, non-causa pro-causa thinking. :)

Snark!
The beginning of
The Snark
"Just the place for a Snark!" the Bellman cried,
As he landed his crew with care;

But wait, given the tendencies of Republicans being strong on "morals", what if it was a male prostitute diapering him? Vitter doesn't specify, probably for plausible deniability. I wonder if that would be a marriage-breaker? XD
OK...Obama is startin to piss me off, I can understand courting voters, but this is bullshit!

Orangutan. @ 9:
Can you imagine the cost if they hadn't supplied the US troops with substandard equipment too? ie: bullets, helmets, unarmoured vehicles.
