This 2004 interview should be required viewing for every journalism student. I admit that I had not seen this video until today, but apparently over a million people already have and I hope that millions more will watch it as well. If the American press corps and our corporate media had asked tough questions like this of President Bush and his administration during the lead up to the invasion of Iraq, there isn't a doubt in my mind that public support for it would have plummeted. This interview was done in '04, but was never aired in the U.S., and it's quite possible that it could have affected the outcome of the presidential election that year. Imagine the outcome if a journalist dared to interview John McCain in this way today.

The Huffington Post:

While surfing the net on 'Stumble', I came across an interview with President Bush on Irish television that caused a bit of a storm in 2004. The interview conducted by the tenacious Carol Coleman of Radio Television Ireland was not aired on American television, and Bush's press officers apparently complained vociferously about the rigorous questioning.

The video shows Bush at the absolute peak of his arrogance -- convinced of his own rhetoric about Iraq, flooded with confidence from international subservience to American power, and high off a crushing military victory that reinforced his childish fantasies of American power and preeminence.

The problem was, Coleman was having none of it, and what transpired was a unique insight into the warped brain of the least respected and most hated president in the history of the United States. Read on...

This guy is a war criminal. IMPEACH BUSH NOW.

Only confirms what I already know. Bush is a worthless piece of shit.

yeah, i remember when this made the rounds on the blogs

'Journalism student'!? Do they still teach journalism in this country?

I saw this sometime ago.

This is what a liar sounds like, children.

Thankfully he was interviewed before he hit the Irish pubs.

9/11! My God!
enough cannot be said as to the megalomania of this shit.

We cannot soon enough be rid of him.

Faith in God? He thinks he IS God!

"My job is to do my job"

Hahahahah what a stupid ass bafoon.

Gotta love the Irish.

Alice X (Chomsky Nader) @ 4:

'Journalism student'!? Do they still teach journalism in this country?

Still do... I had some great professors that were men of integrity, honor and honesty. Apparently, selling out for favorable treatment didn't enter the cirriculum until after 1994 (when I graduated).

I saw this at the time and wondered why no one else had.

Saddam Hussein had torture rooms...

Ha! America® has torture Jets.

Saddam's Body Double's fate is too good for Bush and the people he fronts for.

I remember this as well..."those oldies-but-goodies remind me of you..."

But it speaks volumes that many people HAVEN'T seen it. Mainly about our corporate media, who wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole, then or now.

I knew he was an ass in the 90s.

He's such a fool.

How did a real journalist get past the US airport security?

Can you imagine what this woman was thinking after the interview? How could anybody with at least a fifth grade education want this person to be their president? I heard him talking, but he wasn't saying anything.

Arrogance is not the word for this person. This administration did not look at the way the Afgan war bankrupted Russia. They did not look at the way it hung on and on til the Russian's just abandoned it.

He went into these countries and the US has the same fate as Russia. We are in debt, our military force is depleted, we are bankrupt. Everything that happened to Russia. Did the people of this country think bush was a miracle man and that - doing almost the same thing Russia did, we wouldn't suffer the same fate. For that decision alone the whole damn bush administration should be indicted, arrested and found guilty and jailed.

'If they think a few soldiers represent America'…

Of course now we know about the White House Torture Think Tank which led directly to Guantanamo, Abu Ghrieb, secret renditions etc etc etc.

'The Committee of the Select' which the felon Bush knew of and approved, we know because he has told us.

And there is the inconvenient matter of aggressive war not to mention massive illegal surveillance.

The felon Bush will pardon his minions and probably himself if he knows what is good for him. He will then walk off the world stage a free man.

For the time being. He will want to be careful where he goes in the world because his pardons will mean nothing there.

Today I heard on the BBC of a possible war crime indictment for the President of Sudan.

Double standards anyone.

*holds up hand*

lemme finish, lemme finish, lemme finish.

Don't mess with Irish women

They'll mess you.

"Let me finish" = "Let me filibuster"

Things like this remind me of why I love the Irish.

Bush is crazier than a shit-house mouse.

American military at their best...

I really, really hate that Condi sending copraphage.

That America, is someone you voted for not once...but twice. And spare me the bullshit about how he stole the elections. The fact that the 2000 and 2004 elections were even close shows the stupidity of the American people. When you allow your country to be overtaken with ADD-afflicted, dumbed down trash....this what you get—and deserve. A president who people want to have a beer with. Someone "plain spoken" and "down to earth."

What you really get is an arrogant retard suffering from serious cocaine and alcohol flashbacks. Someone who struggles to form complete sentences and not make a fool of himself on the international stage.

No wonder the rest of the world now laughs at the US. I do too.

"Imagine the outcome if a journalist dared to interview John McCain in this way today."

Bush was feared for the patriotism meme that was washed into people's brains after 911. McLame is not feared like Dubyah was, I expect to see some tough interviews on him from now until he loses in November.

Nobody is laughing. The United States is th most hated country on the planet...

Coke. Need some blow, right now. Don't these damned Micks have any good blow around here? I though all Yurpeons did blow...

"Let me finish..."

This pathetic, putrid little man is a national embarrassment, worse, a national humiliation.

It simply makes me ashamed to observe this blockhead interact with intelligent people.

And even today, his people continue to give Congress the middle finger, and Congress does nothing.

I'm feeling that the United States is past the point of no return. We have a collective criminal enterprise that has infiltrated the government, and the passivity of the electorate adds up to the lethal perfect storm.

Take note, American stenographers, er, "journalists". This is how it's done.

ugh. I got about 5 minutes into it and couldn't watch anymore. I hope my relatives in Ireland haven't seen it, or at least don't associate me with this buffoon.

"the majority of our public.." you can hear him snicker in the background. what a child.

I saw this interview right after it took place. The Europeans were so disgusted.
At that point in time, everybody knew he was a dumb ass ignorant.
In 2008, people are of the opinion he got worse.

He is going get finished his presidential tenure, nothing is going to happen to him,
he will fly to Paraguay, and then establish a little "water" business over there.

I'm from Texas and I knew he was a stupid jerk.

A fuckwit, Did I mention he's a fuckwit?

Just obviously stupid!

Now we just have to get the U.S. press to ask the candidates serious questions and to follow-up and to follow-up... if they do not give a sufficient answer... ask both Obama and McCain serious questions....

Somebody better keep a copy of this video before the White House sues YouTube...

JaneaneTheAcerbicGoblin @ 36:

Take note, American stenographers, er, "journalists". This is how it's done.

Exactly. The point is not what a moron George Bush is. Most of us knew that already. The tragedy is the 'pass' that American Media gave him for so many years. I guess if you ask the hard questions your not invited to dance during Karl Roves "Rapping" improv....

George Bush is an embarisment.
I listen to this interview and his responses
to the interviewers questions
make want to run and hide.

I've had to deal with people who had substance-abuse problems before, and when I first heard Georgie speak way back in 1999-2000, the first thing that came to my mind was 'crack-head', as he seemed to have the same problems piecing coherent sentences together just like many of those crack addicts I'd had run-ins with.

Months before 9/11, I had received one of those 'talking points' emails the Repugs are so fond of excreting, in which I was urged to pray for President Bush, as the job was really breaking him down. At the same time, there were rumors floating around the 'Net that the man was on anti-depressives.

After seeing that interview, all I can say is that a drug test would probably find a veritable pharmacopeia of mood-altering substances floating around in his system for him to be so out-to-sea. And this has had his finger hovering over the nuclear 'football'?

Sounds just like Ross "let me finish" Perot.

What an arrogant tool. Thank FSM our national nightmare is almost over.

Wow, what to say. This viceral response is enough. I was mortified, outraged and embarrassed that this was/is our president. The man is a humiliation to himself and the country. Rude bully, arrogrant, ignorant, ill-informed propagandaist. As Conor Oberts wrote "Does he ever smell his own bull**** When the president talks to God?" Unbelievable. And there are still 23% of Americans who think he's doing a good job. Who ARE these people.

I'm ashamed of being an American. People ask where I'm from....I simply tell them, "I'm a citizen of the planet."

Hopefully we're voting her ass back to the stone age next cycle, where she likes it anyway.

I've never mentioned that before in this forum - please don't be hatin'!

Here's another reason Bush should be impeached:

http://www.bradblog.com/?p=6157

Aww, did the pussy Bush have some tough questions to answer? Poor, poor Daddys boy, so sad. What an abysmal creep.

I have just watched this in its entirety, I saw it in 2004.

We are the laughing stock of the world.

But with many tens of thousands of dead Iraqis and millions more displaced, how many are laughing?

What a disgrace.

Pakistan was a democracy in 2004?

What an ASSHOLE.

wow ... hey ain't it a shame we didn't have youtube back then? it might have changed things. emphasis on the word "might."

It totally surprises me that he didn't say "Shut the (expletive) up (expletive) and let me answer my (expletive) question!!! What an arrogant (expletive) bully.

How weak. She didn't even mention the Saudis. She didn't even mention occupation. She let Bush slide right on by. She let Bush calls all the Iraqis that fight "terrorists" instead of making the point the Saudi terrorists are one thing and Iraqis fighting to kick out an occupation is something else.

I had this interview on my hard drive for over a year, and I never could figure out why no one had talked about it. I guess I should have sent emails out. The interview is quite shocking when you see it compared to interviews done by Fox News or CNN. This is what a journalist should sound like. Unafraid to speak truth to power.

I never saw this in 2004, but I am not surprised by any of it. It is disturbing on so many levels.

Now, would some enterprising video editor do some cutting and slicing this clip with clips of American Journalists Tim Russert or Brian Williams or Tom Brokaw or Katie Couric and demonstrate that there is something wrong with the state of our 4th estate these days?

BUSH & CO. aren't gone yet..........

It just kills me to see what a childish, megalomaniacal shit head our president really is.

And actually, I think Coleman allowed herself to get fillibustered way too much by the President.

I do think W hit upon the perfect epitaph for his own headstone: "Let me finish."

This interview of Bush says more about the intelligence of Americans than it does about Bush. It also says a lot about our elite corporate media as I had never seen this video before.

Being an Irishman myself I remember seeing clips from this interview. Every day in the run up to the 04 election I kept thinking that the penny was going to drop and that Americans would never vote again for such a malignant cancerous growth as Bush is but I was disappointed. I think Carol Coleman came under a lot of pressure from the big wigs in Ireland after that interview. Prime Minister Ahern was a very good pal of Bush and allowed him use Shannon Airport to refuel for flights to iraq, possibly even for some of those rendition flights. The Irish are not blameless when it came to appeasing Bush.

Hence the public view of the country and it's people, when they export that puppet around the world and then the tourist come afterwards with the "ra ra ra #1 you all want to be just like us" ..... where nothing could be further from the truth.

What is the real embarasment is that while all of you americans constantly hit these blogs calling these clowns every name in the book, for years now...nothing...absolutely nothing has been done to change it. Utter complacency while innocent(Iraqis) people die, while the lies continue. And after these criminals leave office...nothing still, will be done to bring justice. And the innocents will still be paying for all the lies to come from your white house.

For various reasons, which includes the overwhelming US financial support for the IRA from people who thought it was "cool" to support terrorism, that funding only dried up after 9-11. The Irish might not have completely clean hands, though they didn't vote the tosser in twice and then leave him there.

You're right--but keep in mind that this interview was done in 2004.

Just listen to him talk down to her, chide her every time she interrupts him. His paternalistic, arrogant tone just disgusts me. He talks to her like she's three years old, and needs to have the word "freedom" explained in child-speak. Way to condescend, you misogynist asshole.

Douche bag.

"These people are willing to kill innocent people," he answered testily in response to questioning about the Iraqi death toll. "They're willing to slaughter innocent people to stop the advance of freedom."

I think we have a pretty good idea who "these people" really are ...

Another Missing Clip ...

At about the same time as this interview, perhaps a day before or after, there was a clip of Bush and other leaders meeting the press outdoors. Bush thought it was only a photo op with EU leaders when a member of the press began asking him a question. Like the adult baby that he is, he turns to the nearest EU head of state and says "Do I have to answer?" or something like that. This is the so called President of the Free World!

You just can't take this guy out in public without his Condi/Mommy near by in case he has to go #1 or #2 or just doesn't know what to do.

I just forwarded this to everyone in my address book.

Something's nagging at my mind. Will the US allow an American President to be tried in the World Court for crimes against humanity or will we find ourselves at war against the world to protect this waste of space? We have placed a pure criminal into the office of the most powerful leader in the world. This travesty must not be allowed to happen again.

Every TV channel was playing boosh commercials

But none of Ann Richards.

She did make one interesting comment. When a reporter asked her what she though of boosh refering to her as that lady, and made a hand gesture suggestive of her large bouffant.

Ann answered, "Good thing he wasn't describing Dolly Parton."

I thought it was hilarious but booshco played it up as another example of her vulgarity. There was another less funny where she was trying to emphasize to school age girls to pursue their education and not count on a Prince Charming to rescue them. booshco immediately seized on it as being indicative of anti-male bias, and anti-family.

Great interview. If bush thinks that he can filibuster like that once he's run out of office, I think he's (let me finish typing) got another think coming. I'll be tuned in to when he tries to speak at the opening of his Presidential Liebrary, that'll be a fun day, the protesters should be out in force then. Mind you, he's going to hounded no matter where on Earth he goes after he leaves and he'll deserve every raspberry, swear word and middle finger aimed at him. That will only last until he's sentenced and put away for life, right?

These videos are a perfect example of a puppet, who must fake it while they untangle his strings. The neo-turds are the same group of people we had to go to war with to get them to let go of their slaves. They have never forgotten or forgiven, and have used any and all methods to get things back to the way they were, I'am rich and in control and your not. What an arrogant a$$hole. He made the interview what he wanted it to be even though it's the interviewers job to guide the interview.

This buffoon would be funny if there were not so many dead. We and the world must bring him and his gang to justice to make it clear to the world that Americans do care about peoples of the world.

Yes, it was weak, but it was so much better than the inanity we've been subjected to from our own craven 'journalists' that it seems like genius in comparison.

I think one of the reasons Bush does the whole "don't interrupt me" routine is that he has to slow the interview down to match his own plodding response times. It also helps to run out the clock so fewer questions are asked. I'm pretty sure he also knows the value of nonplussing the interviewer and interrupting THEIR flow of thought. When you are a plodder barely holding your own in an interview, the only real strategies you have are slowing the pace, shackling your questioner as much as possible, relying on memorized general phrases, and evasion. Most pols are pretty good at evading questions because they can think quickly enough to dance around the issues. Bush isn't adept at the 'baffle 'em with bullshit' technique, so he HAS to be the bully to maintain control. Finesse or intimidation...for Bush, there is no option.

Relative peace I mean. It's still a Mideast shithole for sure.

An Average Joe @ 110:

What an arrogant piece of shit.

That infuriated me. That young lady should have said, "Stop pointing your finger at me! That's rude."

A pox on all the assholes who voted for this prick!

A pox on all who rigged the voting machines, intimidated voters, disenfranchised voters, "lost" ballots, and circumvented democracy.

bush: "Don't interrupt me, I need to finish reading my answers"

Bush: "The people of Iraq hated its leader, Saddam. So he had to be removed."

Bush: (about his own country) "I'm not trying to do the popular thing. I'm doing what's right."

Two sides of the same coin.

Also, when the reporter says the world is less safe since the war, that there are bombings every day, Bush says he disagrees and then gives examples of bombings that took place since the war.

I honestly believe he's mentally retarded.

This is such an embarrassment to anyone who's ever graduated from high school.

How did this fuckbag get any diploma from anywhere?

CowBoy Bob in Austin @ 123:

Bush may have a hundred thousand DEATHS and a MILLION wounded on his hands by the end of his presidency. By historical standards for demonic heads of state and war criminals... those are mediocre numbers.

He can't get ANYTHING right.

Bush and his handlers are going to burn in hell along with Hitler, Mao, and Stalin, that's a given.

Fil Says: this is the first time that I am viewing this.
I love the Irish (I mean the Irish in Ireland.. I do not live Bill O’Reilley or Pat Buchannan)

I will forward this to my buddies

We Irish disowned those two wing nuts a long time ago. Neither of then would long in ireland, especially Orally who would get his head kicked in in certain parts.

"Wait, let me finish; let me finish my bloviating platitude."

Hey George, you realise the British (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales) hate your guts, right?

So the Irish care more about our government than we do.

(sighs)

Imagine if Bush were grilled this way everyday by the US media. Murdoch and his corporate media barons deserve to be in jail.

Loonie @ 135:

"Wait, let me finish; let me finish my bloviating platitude."

Hey George, you realise the British (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales) hate your guts, right?

And you realize that the Irish are not British, right?

Bush is right when he says people misunderstand that people shouldn't judge America by the actions of a few soldiers. Those America haters are really judging America by the actions of its President.

What's the big deal with this 2004 interview? Other than bush showing us all what
a total and complete, arrogant asshole he is, I found nothing new. Did I miss
something?

my God - it's true.... some of my friends DID elect an mentally challenged man-child to be President of the United States.... twice

Let me try to explain (without being too condescending and you, in return, won't be an a-hole today).

One site locates this video and adds the BS caption that it was banned.

Another site copies the link from the first, also claiming the video was banned.

The word "banned" gets the attention of the tin-hat crowd and soon every site that claims to be on the cutting edge has a thread about a video that was supposedly banned (when it wasn't) and is supposedly new and hot (when it isn't).

Next thing you know, we're 150 posts down.

Then someone asks a question like yours.

"Nobody cares about the death more than I do. I care a lot" - been awhile since I heard this disingenuous canned spiel - much more chilling now.

I remember seeing this on the 'net a few years ago.

Thanks, Carol Coleman for reminding us of how an interview with this bloviating asshole SHOULD be conducted -- questions right to the point and no bullshit. Can we hire her to replace, say, maybe ALL of the current MSM propaganda readers?

Up the Irish!

I have actually lived in Ireland for the last two years and feel a little sad I have not seen this interview, great find and great post by the way. On a side note, there is no Radio Television Ireland, it's actually RTÉ which stands for Radio Telefís Éireann

What an insane Christian liar, war criminal, terrorist, and traitor. That insane mother fucker needs to be tried and be executed for his Christian atrocities against humanity.

"We've helped the Irish"
"Everyone thought the world was calm on 9/11" -- well, not exactly Warpig!
"The god I know & love is for peace" -- so why did you launch 2 preemptive wars?
"My job is to do my job" -- simply brilliant!
"Now let me finish"

"Please, please, it would be better if you let me finish..." "...my long-winded diatribe which I hope will obfuscate the issue and placate you in this interrogation you call an interview...you do want to have a job at the end of the day, don't you?" What a hideously poor example of a statesman he is (and believe me Gov. Bush, history WILL judge you harshly. Good luck staying off the sauce once you stop being insulated from the truth about your debacle of a presidency as you wither away into old age, hopefully without a LIBRARY!) As his term is nearly complete, he gets more pompous and a$$holic every single day. And is anyone gonna call him on it!? No, not unless he is caught in some sexual indiscretion that we the American public can become outraged about. He is the paramount of disgrace to this country!

I love how, moments after saying Abu Ghraib doesn't represent America, Bush cites Saddam's torture as proof he is a monster. Hmm. Interesting. If Abu Ghraib doesn't represent Bush, then I don't see why those cited events should represent Saddam...

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Harvard and Yale ....snort (literally) ....

"The video shows Bush at the absolute peak of his arrogance..."

Huffpo, do you think he's any less arrogant, delusional or full of it today than he was four years ago? He's still convinced that he's infallible.

So shut up and vote Republican, you whiners.
