The link to the WayBackMachine gives:

Apparently McCain's campaign requested they scrub the entry - the WayBackMachine will do so if requested.

BUT .. the pdf link works!

Let's take Scott Ritter 's advice and demand that our Reps pull together a congressional hearing on Iran. Especially since Israeli leaders will be pressuring the Bush administration even more to back up their much desired pre-emptive strike on Iran.

This recent interview with Scott is really worth listening to

Scott Horton Interviews Scott RitterJuly 12th, 2008

Former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter discusses the likelihood of a U.S. attack on Iran and the smokescreen of diplomatic progress, how Iran’s recent promise of retaliation has raised the stakes by ensuring limited U.S. strikes would be inadequate, how facts and reason are irrelevant since the neocons in command believe they can generate their own realities, the need for Congress to reduce the level of tension not increase it with their current pending Iran war resolutions, how the War Party’s aggressive rhetoric towards Iran only helps their hardliners, Iran’s nuclear program as pretext for regime change, the dubious origins of the “smoking laptop,” the possibility of the use of nuclear weapons by the U.S. against Iran and the need for American business to demand Congress put an end to the march to war.

MP3 here. (47:29)

Scott Ritter was a Marine Corps intelligence officer from 1984 to 1991 and a United Nations weapons inspector in Iraq from 1991 to 1998. He is the author of numerous books, including Iraq Confidential (Nation Books, 2005), Target Iran (Nation Books, 2006) and his latest, Waging Peace: The Art of War for the Antiwar Movement (Nation Books, April 2007).

Washington Dispatch: Mother Jones has learned that a parade of high-level Israeli officials are on their way to the White House over the next two weeks to discuss Iran policy. Here's where the two countries differ on what to do next.

Did anyone read that article from naked capitalism? its ridiculous. He implies that free-trade is a failure but doesn't recognize that "free-trade" argreements are hardly free. They are more like "fair-trade" or "managed trade".

I ask people please research the true meaning of "free-market" before they go about blaming free-trade agreements(which are thousands of pages of rules and regulations- real free-trade doesn't even need one sentence) as proof of the negatives of a free-market.

We have not had real free-trade.

Clicking on the Cynic's Party link to the press release... links to the pdf file and quotes from a Congressman Bachus.... interesting coincidence, no?

From the gang that promised $20 a barrel from the Iraq war and oversaw record profits for big oil as prices skyrocketed at the pump now lifts the ban on drilling promising.....you guessed it...lower prices at the pump!

witnessed a very interesting phenomena this morning. This article having to do with the expansion of Illegal west bank settlements was posted at Firedoglake early this morning I posted it at Crooks and LIars. so you can get to the article posted via this link.

http://firedoglake.com/2008/07/14/israel-okays-new-factories-in-wbank-se...

But later that article about the expansion of Illegal settlements was taken down at Firedoglake. So if you go directly to Firedoglake and do not use the link that I provided earlier at Crooks and Liars You will see what I mean
Here is the direct link
http://firedoglake.com/

the earlier article about the expansion of illegal settlements was between Christy's latest on Senator Dorgan and the article about the Economy and is not longer there. Wondering why?

Samson-'s picture

What if the Candidates Pandered to Economists?

"Senator Obama’s bad-mouthing of Nafta and his opposition to free-trade pacts with Colombia and South Korea make most economists cringe."

what, do most economists favor the assassination of labor leaders in colombia? i find that surprising.

do economists really believe that our trade deals are fair? are they that compromised, short sighted and dim? (don't answer that)

calling our trade deals "fair" is just about as accurate as referring to our market economy as "free"

Samson-'s picture

Theguy @ 9:

real free-trade doesn't even need one sentence

that is not free trade, that is the 21st cen version of the slave trade.

as long as this false and insulting notion of "free" includes slave labor, environmental devastation, child abuse, etc. it is to be mocked and reviled.

Travelling to foreign lands - regardless their extradition treaties with the US (or lack thereof) may not be the safest of moves for members of the Bush Crime Family.

They've pissed off a lot of people who don't need official permission to .. err .. render justice to these thugs.

I'd prefer to see them rot in prison - preferably chained in uncomfortable positions in a large cage on wheels that tours the world's major cities.

After a fair trial, of course!

OT, but how 'bout the cover of the latest issue of The New Yorker magazine? If you're not aware of it, it shows Obama dressed as OBL and Michelle strapped with an AK-47. It's "humor" you know.

Idiocracy indeed!

Turdblossom found! You know, in the run-up to a presidential election, you would think that a high-price political analyst for a top-rated "news" network would have to postpone his vacations until after November.

Scott Ritter really kicking up the dust. Encouraging all of us to Call our Reps and demand congressional hearings on Iran

Iran Shows Its Cards
by Scott Ritter

There can no longer be any doubt about the consequences of any U.S. and/or Israeli military action against Iran. Armchair warriors, pundits and blustering politicians alike have been advocating a pre-emptive military strike against Iran for the purpose of neutralizing its nuclear-related infrastructure, as well as retarding Iran’s ability to train and equip “terrorist” forces on Iranian soil before dispatching them to Iraq or parts unknown. Some, including me, have warned of the folly of such action, and now Iran itself has demonstrated why an attack would be insane
