Steve wrote about McCain's idiotic attack ad on Obama. Here's a spoof video of McCain's ad. They use McCain's own words--- blaming the high gas prices on politicians like McCain, who've been working in DC over the last 30 years. The truth hurts, right Holy Joe? Is it really a spoof ad? I think not.

The prevailing political sentiment on the high cost of gas seems to be "I'm making my money. Fuck you, you whiners."
nail on the head!
Thank God we don't have a peanut farmer in the White House. Imagine the price of mixed nuts!
"I drink your milkshake! I drink it up!" - Daniel Plainview
now that is a great ad
I laughed my ass off after watching this ad! It is as bad as "Big Bad John" for Coryn in Texas. WTF? Do they think Americans are that stupid? Probably!
now that we have blamed each other lets get to work and do something about it...or do we have to wait until after the election?
McCain say our problem with our dangerous dependency on foreign oil goes back 30 years. McCain has been in congress since 1982. Well, I'm not a big city mathematician but according to my calculations that's 26 of the 30 years McCain's been part of the problem!
Can you smell the desperation here? The repugs have become a parody of themselves!
everybody busting on this one. john harwood on 'race for the white house' yesterday:
HARWOOD: No. And I‘ve got to say, David, I was dumbstruck by this ad.
The idea that you‘re going to—I mean, it‘s one idea to go after Obama for being Dr. No and opposing the various steps from the gas tax holiday to the drilling that John McCain is talking about, but does it even pass the laugh test to have an ad saying that Barack Obama is the one you can thank for rising gas prices? I mean, it‘s just—it‘s beyond belief, really.
I tend to disregard advice on anything relating to the "long term" from someone who is 72+ yrs old and has only over a decade left to live (in the best case scenario)
P.D. @ 5:
as someone noted somewhere ... partnering max cleland up with osama bin laden worked. so never, ever overestimate the intelligence and sophisitication of the 'murikan people...
McClown
If this isn't a spoof, McGrampa's campaign could possible be the most incompetent in the history of politics.
ridiculous and desperate......what's scary there are people
who will believe this......if anything mccain should be held
more responsible for current energy fiasco. obama knows we need alternatives it's poor ad for a guy like me but somebody may want to believe this message to convince themselves not to vote for obama. obama should respond and hammer back...quickly...people are desperate and quick to blame.
If you are interesting who we are supporting during this time of record high gas prices, here is a database of Houston's highest-paid executives....many of which are in the oil biz.
http://www.chron.com/databases/executivecompensation.html?appSession=083...
$50,549,026 James Mulva Chairman, CEO and President ConocoPhillips
$19,470,725 Clarence Cazalot Jr. President and CEO Marathon Oil Corp.
$17,023,538 David Lesar Chairman, President and CEO Halliburton Co.
$15,529,181 William Berry Retired Executive Vice President ConocoPhillips
To name a few....
Why not attack Obama's pro-war/pro-empire leanings? Just like John Kerry in 2004, Obama somehow managed to get the anti-war people on his side. Pitiful.
McMethuselah thinks everyone is dumb....as he is.
Dr. Hussein Matt @ 15:
you bring up a good point sen. jim webb was speaking about this on charlie rose last night. i recommend you watch/listen to that interview. it's not that we don't people to be successful and make money. having said that the gap between very rich and poor is largest it has been in a long time. warren buffet said my secretary pays more taxes then i do. when these large companies make money/on top of the world they're individuals but soon as they have trouble they want to depend on the social system...ie. fannie mae/freddie
for oil it's subsidies and using our military that we pay for. these rich people pay capital gains tax at 15% webb says it should change....they are not paying their fair share.
Dr. Hussein Matt @ 15:
Plus 2 corrupt oil men in the White House. Why $4/gal gas? 1 + 1 still equals 2 doesn't it?
Let's see, we were attacked on Bush's and the repug's watch, notwithstanding warnings to that effect that were ignored. Now after 30 years of repug rule (even under Clinton they blocked meaningful legislation and their whole endeavor was to go after Bill) and Cheney's secret meetings with the oil bigshots we have gas and fuel prices that are affecting the cost of just about every thing else. Yet they still have the gall to blame terrorism and high gas prices on anything Democratic. I used to say they have shit for brains. I now have to apologize to shit because they are even lower level than feces.
Two quick ways to immediately off-set "some" of the high cost, and drive it back down to around $3 a gallon, is:
1) to enact the Dorgan bill stopping the oil speculators from driving up the price of crude and
2) release some of the reserve oil being held. It doesn't have to be a great amount, just enough to bring the price down to a more tolerable level.
3) Continue cutting back on our driving like we have the past year. Americans (due to the high cost) have done what the oil speculators and oil execs didn't plan on - driving less.
4) Keep buying more fuel efficient and alternative fuel based vehicles.
5) Cut the excessive bonus amounts to oil CEO's by not pumping at their stations.
All of those would have more immediate, short term impact than the laughable and absurd Repub/Big Business lobbying effort of increased drilling.....which wouldn't be available for up to a decade and would probably be sold to an overseas vendor anyhow, let alone the impact of destroying more land.
We all know it's a big scam anyhow......the price of a barrell of crude drops $16 in a week or so and all we see at the pump is a dime difference at most? However, when the barrell of oil jumps up by just a dollar, the price goes up a dime. Riiight.
anon @ 16:
obama is a realistic person and realism only occurs with compromise(philosophy101). the difference 100 or so yrs.in iraq with mcBush...obama/maliki 16 months. if your going to bring up afghanistan..it's already in the works.
obama didn't want us to go into iraq neither did jim webb. if you want idealism then you have to go with
ron paul who i rsespect....i don't like or want war, occupation and/or nation building. the NEOCONs
took advantage of a catastrophe...i realize there is much more to it than that. the bottom line is we are in at least 2 confrontations probably more....were in africa also...you can bet on that.....for oil. obama is being handed a Catch-22 mess.
I understand McCain responded when asked about the ad that it was just a joke, and anyway it was something he read in the New Yorker.
Realism or bloodthirsty? One who wages or threatens to wage war is a 'warmonger'. Because of that, neither Obama or McCain, or ANY warmonger will get my vote.
this is what the airlines think about speculators/their role
in price of oil.....fuel it's short...you don't see this in media...why banks trying to recoupe some losses as they
are getting slamed for their derivative scheme

Speaking of *new* McCain ads attacking Obama:
http://www.johnmccain.com/video/love.htm
Yup .. the Media Is In Love With Barack ..
The exact same Media that was, only weeks ago: "McCain's Base" ..
Not enough sprinkles on the donuts, I guess!
The repugs are running an election from 4 years ago, doesn't work too well in this cycle though. They are listing to Rove and not relizing that this a new election process, so they will continue on this course of fear, hate, war, and blame the Dems for everything. McChimpy and Mittens are in for a surprise when the only people that they listen to are the same ones who lost the mid-terms in a landslide.
anon @ 24:
Why don't you get together with "wakeupamerica" and the two of you can have your pity party together since you don't understand what a complex situation Obama is likely to inherit.
anon @ 24:
don't take part of the process...if you do that they won the battle....people have to realize this requires realism
and realism means compromise. very few of us want any war and/or nation building.....your doing what the people/corporations want you to do not voice your vote.
militarism is what comes to my mind each time i see mccain's logo in a tv ad.
i think that is the real choice we face in november -- a military government or civilian, which would you rather have?
every day my perception of mccain as just plain creepy grows stronger.
So Obamas responsible for high gas prices. High gas prices correlate to the most drastic reduction in traffic fatalities since the Arab oil embargo. Will McBush give Obama credit for saving lives?
dilly @ 31:
i like that thinking out of the box.....i don't think people realize how many deaths result from auto accidents...
maybe close to 400k....i might be off on that
The ad says, "Who can you thank for high prices at the pump? McCain." The tempo of the ad seems to suggest that we can thank McCain for high prices at the pump. I had to listen to it a few times to be sure. Isn't that what the ad says? I say play it! We can thank ol' McSame for our pain!
This is someone else's line, but it is such a good sentiment I just had to borrow it for this occasion:
When my car will run on bullshit, then I'll listen to Republican ideas about energy.
Constituent is against democracy unless it's a vote for a Democrat or Republican. Thanks, but no thanks on the 'stay home on election day' advice. My vote will be cast. Votes like mine are counted and will ultimately lower the overall percentage points of both McCain and Obama.
For all the people that didn't vote in FLA 8 years ago, Bush thanks you.
anon @ 35:
nice try i'm against people not voting..vote for whoever you want i'm just saying vote....somebody has a voice that represents your thoughts.....nice try with the dramatics though makes it interesting...passive/aggressive..style
According to McCain, Lieberman and other Repugs, Obama is too in-experienced, but when it comes to gas prices, Obama is responsible! ROFL
These guys are nuts
Apologies Constituent. I must've misread your original post. I often get people telling me to stay home on election day.
New McCain ad about oil prices blames the sun, "If it wasn't so nice outside people wouldn't drive to the beach."
New McCain ad about oil prices blames Henry Ford, "If Ford hadn't made cars cheap to build, we wouldn't have some many people with cars."
New McCain ad about oil prices blames prehistoric animals, "If more of them had died in America, we would now have more oil in America."
New McCain ad about oil prices blames the crusaders, "If the had won we wouldn't have to worry about all that oil being in Muslium countries."
Blame evryone but Bush, oil companies, and Wall Street, you know , the real people to blame.
anon @ 39:
no that's cool i totally understand........you have a right to your feelings/thoughts...i have no right to tell you what to do or think......we can all be wrong but i think you should voice your vote....feel part of it....it matters
so, it's a spoof of his ad, but it's also an accurate portrayal of his very own actions. john mccain has been in in office for 25 of those 30 years. he's the embodiment of a political "This Is Spın̈al Tap."
talk about having the dipshit vote locked up!
How about some construction of government-owned refineries? Not big fan of the idea, but the oil companies have no reason to build any. They like the limited capacity they have now. Use the profit to do some real research into alternatives. There is no competition anymore. It could be given the mandate of paying for itself and controlling the market much like the Fed does, very similar process.
Same thing for electrical energy. How many times do I have to pay for electrical generation plants?
A new attack ad labeling Obama as a flip-flopper just ran on MSNBC, 4:15 CT.
[PRES] Let Freedom Ring: Both Ways Barack
http://youtube.com/watch?v=shYr0uCpXWA
Why is Pennsyvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) the spokesperson for a group which opposes Obama (D)?
Is he in the tank?
It makes me wonder if the swing state of Penn. will be the next Florida/Ohio?
http://www.let-freedom-ring.org/ -the group that is responsible for the obama attack add.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Rendell -Ed Rendell- Democrat -He was elected Governor of the Commonwealth Pennsylvania in 2002 and is the spokesperson for Let Freedom Ring, the group that created the ad.
wheeeee @ 45:
eddie is a DINO
like Nelson-Neb
and Nelson-Fla
mccain is so incredibly dependent on lapdog media.
he can't even coherently babble
and he needs them to attack Obama
and they're losing all their ammo.
Lapel pins, anyone?
You know, the McCain ads are so bad I just wonder if the people running his campaign are just in it for the money. They must know they have no chance at winning in November. I suspect they are just playing along for the money and willing to put ANYTHING in an ad. No true believers there.
It would not surprise me to see his political "handlers" start having McCain doing really stupid stuff as it becomes more obvious he is going to lose big. I can just hear it now....
"Come on, John, put on the Chuck E Cheese mouse head. This will really get us the under 5 vote and likely some of their parents as well."
I am just tired of corporate syncophant suck up old white dudes running this country. We need to start the change with OBAMA but he is got to be careful brcause they will be trying ti find a weakness and ambush him like they did President Clinton. Also go to raw story and sign the petition to get rid of that heartless beast SAVAGE. Boycott the stations advertisers and ket them know.
Since McCain banner ads are all over YouTube I urge you all to click the links. Click baby click, that way McCains $$ will be wasted and the funds gap will just grow and grow. Remember every penny taken from McCain is like a penny given to Obama, and they can really add up!
wheeeee @ 45:
Not sure about that. There seems to be two groups here: Let Freedom Ring™ and Let Freedom Ring, Inc..
Rendell is the spokesperson of the former group, while the latter group made that ad you cited in post 44.
From the Let Freedom Ring, Inc. (how funny is that?) site:
Let Freedom Ring, Inc. is not associated with the annual Let Freedom Ring bell-ringing ceremony on July 4th conducted by the Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the Revolution.
But...but...but Barack is married to a black woman and his middle name is Hussein.
