Peace Activists Arrested Attempting Citizens Arrest Of Karl Rove
(sorry, I just love that picture)
DES MOINES, Iowa (Reuters) - Four peace activists were arrested on Friday as they attempted to make a "citizens arrest" of Karl Rove, who was one of President George W. Bush's top aides before leaving the administration last year.
"It should be Karl Rove in that van. War Criminal!" one of a dozen protestors shouted as the four were put into a police van outside a Des Moines country club where Rove spoke at a private state Republican party fundraiser.
Chet Guinn, a retired Methodist Minister, was among those led away.
"To be silent when major crimes are being committed against all humanity makes us accomplices," Gwinn told reporters just before his prearranged arrest, which took place when protestors stepped past a gate.
Such is the life of current and former Bush loyalists responsible for so much damage to our country and the world. Auckland police are warning a students group against their $5000 offer to anyone who can carry out a citizens arrest on Condoleeza Rice and who can forget Donald Rumsfeld's close call in France last October when he abruptly fled to Germany after learning he could be detained by French officials and forced to stand trial on charges he approved torture.

Damn It! I saw the word "Arrested" and that picture and I nearly had a apoplexy.

Rummy and Rove should take their vacations in Tahiti instead. The French can't get them there. ;)
I half expected Bush to be arrested at the Vatican.

Project much KKKarl?
Eventually he'll get locked up. There's too much venom in the Democratic base - someone has to pay, and while Bush & Cheney will get let off to preserve the idea that our "leaders" are not subject to the law, Rove, has no such protection once Bush's term is up. I can't wait to see his pasty, doughy face and his beady little eyes in a mug shot.
I just look up citizens arrest in Black's Law Dictionary, but it gives no Constitiotional power to do so.
However, there's no constitutional provisions for Executive Priveledge nor Congressional oversight.
Apparently all that's required is for a private citizen to witness a misdemeanor or felony in his presence, or have reason to believe a felony has been committed.
Therefore this seems covered by citizens arrest definition. Especially since there's a congressional subpoena after turdblossom that he's trying to elude.
The correct thing would be for the police to arrest all of them.
Now days if someone resists arrest they get tazed. Imagine Rove writhing on the ground. Hmm.

all who respect and revere the constitution of the united states hope for the arrest of this criminal.yes karl, keep thumbing your nose at the congress, nothing can happen to you.you are protected by the lawless neo-con administration.keep taunting karl, noone will be held accountable!untill someone is,hopefully it starts with you.
I would give my left nut to see that [Inadequate Expletive Deleted] being led away in chains.....
Oopsie, there's also no constitutional provision for executive inherent powers either.
How to Make a Citizen's Arrest of a War Criminal
CAlI @ 6:
or at least get punched in the mouth by the Pope
Hmm... Why would people be arrested for trying to arrest a normal every day citizen of this country? KKKarl is nobody special. He has never been elected to any office. He has no special protection that should be afforded to him. So why should police stop people from trying to make a citizens arrest?
Anyone feel like you are in Nazi Germany in '34? Is there anything that can be done to bring to justice these criminals?
BennyP,
Just trying, unsucessfully, to give a northeastern perspective (where I live) on the midwest (where I grew up).

if they touched him they will all be charged with assault
so they shoulda gone all the way and gang kicked him in the gonads
not that i advocate violence, but get some pleasure before you get hauled off
I am starting to see the faintest of signs amongst the citizenry that they aren't afraid anymore. C'mon folks, let's put the pressure on EVERYONE in D.C. now.....call, protest, argue, debate, insist and demand that those who LIED us into this war and into our national debt, all the while thumbing their noses at us and our beloved constitution. Make it known that they who did this should hang from the highest gallow in D.C. for treason. It is time for our citizens to take it back.
Karl Rove is the finest example of sociopathy in the administration. Oh - I forgot Cheney. And Gonzalez. and Rumsfeld. Guess he isn't that special. I must say, however, that he is one of the few people that I wish ill. Somebody is going to squeal. Somebody will find their own conscience and it'll be over. Someone needs to go to jail - actually several someones - I just hope he's first.

Rice, Rove. Rummy, Wolfowitz, Cheney and Bush are all fugitives from the law who should be arrested on sight. They should be tried both in America and at the Hague. Those 4 Americans who were arrested for trying to bring the fugitive Rove to justice should be awarded Medals of Freedom.
ysbaddaden @ 12:
Hum, no. The correct thing for the police would have to enforce the citizen's arrest, and bring the citizens as witnesses. Instead they actively obstructed the law.
In fact, if there are any legalists among the detainees I am sure they can bring forth a nice lawsuit against the police department for obstruction of justice.
Ruthless People @ 37:
All better watch their travel from now on, especially outside of this country. Even the lawyers who wrote the crap to let torture take place.
When is the world court in the Hague going to put this crew on trial for war crimes????
The laws of the land are used against the citizens while the wealthy criminal class do as they like.
How about if Europe offers to pay off our war debts incurred in Iraq for the surrender of booshco to stand trial for warcrimes?
This, unfortunately, is just another example of how those in power attempt to crush anyone who dares to challenge the system. This is reminiscent of when the Capitol police arrested Cindy Sheehan during a Congressional hearing because she had the effrontery to wear a T shirt which had written on it the number of American soldiers who were killed in Iraq. Speaking of Ms. Sheehan, I had just read that she had obtained the necessary number of signatures in order to get on the ballot to challenge Nancy Pelosi.
38 The Dude
My gut, which is considerable says you're right. Afterall turdblossom is a fugitive. He left the country rather than respond to the congressional subpoena, and he no longer has official business to conduct. However, the court may argue that the four were disturbing the peace. So the cops can't really make the call on who to arrest and who not, and arrest all, and if God can't sort them out, maybe the local judge can.
These people should be given the medal of honor, never mind getting arrested. I think that Rove will get his, and soon.
Patience Grasshopper
thiers no plans by the democrats to go after the bush gang, if they did they would have to go after half the democrats in the house and senate, they are all as guilty as any in dc,
that pic just does not work . . . . Mr Rove's physical stature is at least twice as "husky"

Congress gave Bush and Co. retroactive immunity when they passed the Military Commissions Act of 2006.
This is not our government. We are not a part of it in any way beyond paying taxes and jury duty (which i refuse to take part in.) The laws are not for us, they are against us. We can pretend our elected officials represent us all we want, but they don't.
Want to know why i am not around much anymore?
I don't see the point.
Looks like the US Airforce dropped too many chemicals on your dried up arse, back in Nam!
VietVet8666 @ 8:
I thought it to be a citizens moral and civic duty....as well as a right to make a citizens arrest. Well, that completes making Americans obselete. But to be arrested for doing a civic duty is a sign of martial law coming. The people that represent us will not do the duty they swore to do, what or what recourse do we as Americans have to bring elite criminals to justice????
Upper echelon crimes are permitted, but a man late for a parole appointment is sent to prison.......oh woe is we!
What we got for the deal is major banks like Wachovia, Chase and Bank of America are tottering and no one is lending money to anyone anymore. Credit is drying up, evictions rising, along with gas and food prices and unemployment is just behind all of them but rising.

Funny, the Des Moines Register has nothing about this incident. They reported on Rove's event, but not the arrests. Bought and paid for by Bushco. Great photoshop job by the way. Doubt we will actually see Rove going to jail--nobody will be prosecuted. It is just too cozy to allow a few nonegregious crimes to have been committed.
Of course it's impossible for citizens to get anywhere near Mr. Rove. How far will a Taser reach? He's obviously dangerous. God knows what drugs he's on.
I love that image.
waitaminit. Isn't Rove in the Crimea at some vacation resort?
I think it's time that the Auckland police and other police forces around the world be informed that interfering in a 'citizens arrest' of a war criminal is the same as aiding abetting them and that they will be dealt as accomplices. I'm so tired of seeing thugs and murderers from all parts of the world given police protection.
It will take patriotic citizens to bring Rove to justice because it's painfully obvious that Congress lacks the intestinal fortitude. After all, he's a member of the elite club of which all, both Republicans and Democrats, belong, the courtesan class. They are the ones that play by their own rules.
JustSickOfIt @ 21:
The Nazi's solidified their hold on power through legal legislative actions taken by the Reichstag. Reminiscent of the Congress of the U.S. of A. that has been complicit of a criminal administration. Fascism came to Germany one drip at a time. Fascism is coming to America one drip at a time.
Kathy @ 13:

Mike @ 67:
Same here. I think the word "steroidheads" used earlier gives a hint at part of the problem. A lot of cops are into bodybuilding, and almost every bodybuilder I've ever known has had right-wing tendencies. Just a thought, maybe an unimportant one.
deang @ 71:
Most cops are dumber than a light post. I am sure there are a few decent individuals, and god bless their heart.
And most body builders have the IQ of an artichoke, after all no sane human being would consider a fruitful activity to sped 4 hrs in a gym pushing a piece of iron up and down, and up, and down, and up, and down, and up, and down, and up and down and up and down and up and down.....
Thus the combination of the two in a "bodybuilder cop" must generate one of the dumbest individuals known to mankind. And from my experience, I may not be too far off the mark on this observation.

Where can I sign up for the next shot at this? Count me in!
I want emancipation from the military/industrial/congressional/white house/judicuary/and now damn near ever segment of government and corporate complex. I say we need many many more citizens arrests of criminals like rove to stem the tide of fascism.
Gotugye @ 68:
I watched the congressional Impeach, but it was not impeach whatever sort of 6 hrs show. It was interesting and worth the time. The Repugs could not stop complain how bush was right and care for the little people and even had 2 professors who admitted been asked by the minority leader, to said that Bush did nothing to be impeach, until 1 congressman asked him when was the last time he came to congress hearing. It was for the impeachment of Clinton for a blowjob that he really thought was a terrible offense, while now could not find anything wrong with taking this country to war for the death of 4100 soldiers for the glorification of G. W. Bush. What an expensive blunders this turn out to be and criminal implication of the death of thousand of people in Iraq plus our soldiers and the amputees one whose life and families has been change forever for a little liar G.W.Bush who can not even speak!!! Let’s not forget that we seems to have plenty gas for those military airplanes in Iraq while our gas have gone nuts. We are paying a fortune everyday for lies. It seems that both Bush and Cheney rich man should pay back for their mistakes instead off getting off with it.
The problems right now is that the Senate does not have the majority of 60”s and without that number nothing will happen. The Repugs will protect the little ass. Therefore we have to elect more democrats to power. Let’s change the number because if we do not, we are dooming ourselves to the same politic that we have had for the same 12 years.
I hear Washington Journal every morning, and the old people are calling for Mc same.

That truly is a heartwarming picture of Rove. We can dream, can't we?
Rovian Tactics For This Year's General Election
There has been some talk of Karl Rove joining John McCain's campaign team as a strategist. Because Rove does not broadcast his tactics, I thought it would be good to point out how some of his tactics play out:
Reverse Complaint (Used to nullify the opponent's primary complaint)
Accuse your opponent of the very thing he is accusing you of. We have gotten a heavy dose of this when Barack Obama went abroad. Before Obama took his trip, the left complained of the media given McCain a "free Pass," but during Obama's trip, McCain's camp used this Rovian tactic to claim the media favored Obama. This was compounded by the media who continued to favor McCain's campaign. With the media helping McCain, it makes the Democrats' complaint look like a copycat when in fact it is the other way around.
Use Rasmussen, and Other Conservative Polls To Stay Close In The Race
They release daily polls that always keep the opponent within striking distance, even if other polls continue to show bigger leads for the opponent. Rasmussen worked this kind of magic with an Ohio poll a few days ago. As soon has one pollster released a poll showing Obama about to pull away, Rasmussen saved the day with its counter.
For this election, we must not let history repeat itself. We know how the last two elections were very specious and controversial. We have got to let the Republicans know we will not be cheated at the last minute with lest then honest tactics.
Joseph
Yeah BUSH*T, Cheney, Rove and Rummy should all be arrested and taken to the Hague to join Radovan Karadzic and his General Ratko Mladic (when he's picked up). All criminals!
KKKarl looks like he about to burst into tears. Hillarious! Bush Jr. never had the guts to frog march rove out of the white house for treason even though he said he would (liar). It took some true patriotic citizens to arrest the SOB. "Impeachement is off the table"... What gutless travesties are "Congressman" Pelosi and "Senator" Reid. Where is the action that is supposed to follow the outrage! Only Kucinich had the guts.
Brad's Blog tied Rove to strong arm attempts to suppress info in fed court case related to 2004 election yesterday (I think)....the heat must be getting to him..he's been visible lately.
You know its a dame shame how these police officers, will arrest citizens that are simply doing the dame job, they should be doing.
The fat lying ass snake, needs to be locked up, along with Bush, cheney, Condi, Donald and Collen Powell, for the murder of thousands of our young people for nothing, but greed.
I am so dame tired of this kind of crap. It just makes you sick.
Oh, Karl...say hey, Donnie, what's up Dick (certainly not yours)? How good are you feeling, Dougie...how 'bout you, Wolfie? Addington, Libby, Tenet, you comfortable?
When Spain issues those warrants, and you know they will - it's only a matter of time - where are you going to feel safe?
I. Fucking. Can't. Wait.
It should, by rights, be our own country that puts these criminals behind bars where they belong. But I like Spain, and they seem to have bigger balls than we do.
Obvioulsy in the United States, the police is protecting the criminals and arrests the honest citizens. Looks very much like 1934 in Germany... Wake up everybody...!!!
arrest them all NOW, post-haste!!
Put them on trial and watch their black hearts explode after taking the fifth 600 times.
I will never feel good about AmeriKKKa ever again unless the criminal scumbags (Bush, Cheney, Rice, Ruhmsfuerher, Feith, Rove, Wolfowitz, Pearle, and their NSA/ CIA bootlicks) are made to answer for their crimes. Hang. Them. All. S_L_O_W_L_Y
Citizen Bounty? I LOVE IT!!!!!!
I spotted this comment in this thread and I wonder if this has ever been attempted. I'll put my $15 in the pot right now.

I'm sure after the arrest turdblossom would much enjoy the strip and deep cavity searches.
It WILL be up to the American people to demand justice and arrest these fools themselves because neither of these jokers running for prez will upset that apple cart. War crimes and crimes against humanity will not be a problem for either as long as they retain the power the Bush administration stole for them.
I'm sure Rummy, Condi, Turdblossom and the rest will all be joining Heir Bush in his Paraguayan Hidaway (the one right next to Rev. Moon's hidaway).
I'm not makin' this stuff up folks!
BennyP @ 19:
Is there a deck of card with all of the Bush's war criminal on them? I would buy a couple of deck in a heart beat!

I doubt that the Vatican disaproves of anything Bush has done.
Don't you all know that laws are passed to keep the rabble in line, they do not apply to the ruling class. They make the law, but do not obey the law,it is one of the privileges of rank.
Sorry folks, I don't mean to busrt anyones bubble, but the president CAN in fact in fact issue what amounts to a pre-emptive pardon. It can be issued to an individual for any charges (which do not need to be specified in the pardon) within a particular time frame, or range of dates (that do not need to coincide with the president's term).
For example, just before leaving office, Bush can issue a pardon for all of the high level admin staff (and DOJ staff, or whatever strikes his fancy), pardoning them in advance for any charged that might be brought agains them at any time in the future, for any crimes that may have been commited between, say...1996 and 2010.
This would not be the first time this has happened.
So...as I fully expect that to be the case...it looks like its up to the international community to actually do something about them.
Wow, ONE American worth saving. I hope there are few more.
We are going to hang your government and media for Warcrimes at the ICC and you better fucking let us.
