Giuliani named keynote speaker at GOP convention
By SilentPatriot Tuesday Aug 19, 2008 6:00pm
Notorious cross-dresser and miserable failure of a Presidential candidate, Rudy Giuliani, has been chosen to give the keynote speech in Minneapolis-St. Paul on Sept. 2. For a good idea of what 9iu11ani will say, see: here.
[Newsday]
UPDATE: It looks like Rudy's first gig as GOP keynote speaker, a conference call with the press today, didn't go so well. Politico's Ben Smith is reporting that McCain goons cut the line of Jewish Telegraphic Agency reporter Ron Kampeas after he began pressing 9Iu11ani on some of his shady business dealings.
Rudy Giuliani's appearance on a McCain conference call got off to a rocky start when Ron Kampeas, the Washington, D.C. of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, compared an Obama advisor's trip to Syria -- the subject of the call -- to Giuliani's and McCain adviser Randy Scheunemann's paid work on behalf of Georgia (in Scheunemann's case) and Venezuela's Citgo and the Saudi government (in the case of Giuliani's law firm).
"You're making an issue of him taking a hotel room?" Kampeas asked -- and then dropped off the call mid-sentence.
"I think they cut me off," he said in an email just now.
Scheunemann noted that his lobbying contract, unlike Obama advisor Daniel Kurtzer's trip to Syria, was publicly disclosed and not "covert." Giuliani said that Citgo, which is owned by the Venezuelan government, is an "American company."
"I never represented Saudi Arabia," he said.
The Associated Press reported that Bracewell & Giuliani, a Texas-based energy firm, has represented Saudi Arabia.

Oh Boy!!!
9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
angryspittle @ 1:
OK. That's a wrap! We have a transcript! h/t angryspittle.
What a Guest List! 911 Guliani, Darth Chaney, Georgie Boy, Romney, Lieberman. What a group of losers. Don't forget, most of the Repugs don't even want to show up. Let the Good Times Roll!
To pick a speaker who was so lame in his presidential campaign and had to drop out is a blessing.
Would love to see the picture above on posters all around Excel. Make the party of family values look at their keynote speaker in all his/her beauty.
We know what he will say, but whatever will the poor old dear wear?
Hey guys. I know! Why don't we put the emergency response HQ in the number one terrorist target in the city? And put up the "no girls allowed" sign.
I beg you, Silent Patriot (and all your colleagues at C&L): organize a fundraiser to buy a billboard in Minnesota that will feature that photo of Guiliani, in all its glory.
P.D. @ 3:
Yeah, and OLD! The only upside for Republicans is that if the conflict heating up in Eastern Europe gets hotter by the convention and continues to do so, Americans will quiver in their boots and throw their trust behind a "mature" ticket for November.
If he is the VP, McCain had better be vigilant. That would be like making Lady Mac Beth VP.
Is Senator Larry Craig going to be there? A Cross Dresser and a Closet Homosexual. What happened to family values?
Long Tooth @ 8:
Heck yeah! That is the kind of bare-knuckles fighting that Dems need to be engaging in. Enough of this "we're above all that rubbish" nonsense. Give people an added reason to vote AGAINST Republicans and tone down some of the happy talk.
He swill stand up for 30 minutes and hail the war hero and call Barak Obama a sissy lightweight, and it will work. It's already working. McCain is now leading in the polls and in the electoral count. Obama is being too nice, and once again the democrats are going to lose. How many times do we have to watch this sad show?

Beef Jerky @ 10:
McCain/Mac Beth. With promotional assistance by McDonald's and McDonnell Douglas.
Bahahaha...
Thurly they can't be theriouth?
Scott @ 13:
Exactly. Obama is throwing it on purpose just like John Kerry did.
Jesus H. Fucking Christ on a unicycle with training wheels.
[My sentiments exactly. How can you not know this comment is totally OFF TOPIC-Sitemonitor]
BeefJerky@16, you may be right, but after 8 disaterous years, you would think the voters were a little smarter this time. But they seem to fall for the same old smears. Depressing.
SHOCKING NEWS:
MCCAIN AGREES WITH REINSTATING THE DRAFT!!!

Scott @ 13:
For the past several weeks, my prediction has been that Obama will pick Hillary for his running mate. All this talk about Webb, Biden, Kaine, Bayh, Sebelius, blah, blah, blah. are just some leak snacks for the media to throw people off. I see today that Ralph predicts Obama will pick Hillary as well. It would be a torpedo if he does and frankly, I think it would work, even though so many people say "No! No! No! Don't pick her!"
Hmm....
Rufus. T. Firefly @ 19:
"A torpedo" against the McCain campaign, I mean.
[Deleted. Off topic-Sitemonitor]
Who cares? I want to know about Christina Applegate's mastectomy.

I believe the revisiting of 9/11 theme for the GOP convention this year with Giuliani as the host with the most flags imprinted around him.
Is there anyway during this whole extravaganza the Dems purchase a spot for a commercial with Giuliani in drag just for sh*ts and giggles?...
Let's calm down everyone. The Polls are Bullshit and we know it. I think we are still feeling the effects of Kerry's loss in 2004. Hopefully, the American people won't let us down. Hell, I hope not!

I say he does not get 30 words into his speech before 9/11 passes his lips.
Beef Jerky @ 16:
I just don't get it. We all complain about how biased the MSM is in their reporting. We know that the MSM are the ones doing the polling. Yet, you people believe everything the polls say and the MSM reports.
DRINKING GAME EXTRAORDINAIRE!
I'll be flat on my face from taking a drink every time he spits out (literally) . . .
9/11!

so the repigs are having a hussy who

P.D. @ 3:
Wow! No religious right/wrongs, or marginal deviates? Well there's always interviews from the floor. "What are you most proud of in the last 8 years?" "Why aren't all of your Congresspersons here?" "Do the bathrooms meet all your needs?"
j swift @ 28:
How about some kind of poll or bet on that maybe C&L could host here maybe dear sitemonitor maybe you could pull some strings?....
A comment about Mc leading Obama in the polls is off topic?
I give up.
Is the coast clear?--- @ 35:
Or maybe how many times Giuliani says 9/11?-----
How about McCain in a dress? Is that OK?
McCain & Schenemann are BOTH on the Board of Directors of the International Republican Institute, which is funded by the US Taxpayer (correct!).
Just Spreading Democracy Throughout The World !!!
It's so sad that Obama is only four points ahead of McCain, when in reality, Judy, I mean Rudy, campaining as a drag queen has as much chance, and makes as much sense, as McCain.
lj@35, You never know. Huckabee is probably waiting in the wings somewhere.
Huckabee in a dress! That's the key.
angryspittle @ 42:
How about Giuliani and the whole lot of them dressed to impress.
It would be quite a review.
P.D. @ 41:
In the wings or eating the wings? I would like a list of OK people among the whole lot of them. The fact that many are talking at all about the possibility of losing to this Group Of Perverts is sickening.
Beef Jerky @ 16:
it's time you took your right hand out of your pants.
and where did you get this brilliant idea?
I hope Judith is there wearing her tiara.
I think the Republican convention is going to be a failure for them. Almost all of the speakers are radioactive/unpopular with Republican voters: Bush/Cheney, chiefly responsible for the party's downfall; Giuliani, who was the "chosen one" until the primaries actually started and almost nobody voted for him; Leiberman, who many on the far right still see as a "liberal", etc.
Is there anyone they can bring in who's actually popular?
Andrew @ 47:
Wait until Detroit Kwame shows up at the Democratic Convention. I hear they are letting him out of jail and allowing him to travel to Colorado.
I'm not a Giuliani fan but I'm not cool with folks putting him down for being a "notorious crossdresser". I believe that there is an expectation that anyone reading these blogs would understand that his moral and political stances contradict the interests of folks who enjoy wearing "women's (only)" clothes (I may add, including the interests of female-born women to), but the way comments are often worded and pictures are usually posted fail to accentuate this point and, rather, they feed on the same transphobia and homophobia that we've been steeped in since childhood. You're not going to help Giuliani deal any better with his issues by putting him down for something he may feel the need to appreciate 'in the closet' ... and such humor certainly isn't empowering for any of the rest of us either.
dadams @ 45:
He's not throwing it on purpose, obviously. But sadly, the Democrats simply refuse to learn from their mistakes. They allow the Republicans to put them on the defensive every time, instead of attacking the Republicans head on. They have the idea that losing gracefully is better than winning. We saw it with Al Gore, we saw it with Kerry, and I'm sad to say we're seeing it again with Obama. The fact is that voters remember attack campaigns more than they remember positive ones, so no amount of high-road touting of superior policies and qualifications is going to make up for Obama's "I respect McCain for his honorable service" responses in the face of outrageous character smears. That would be a good debate tactic in a legitimate acedemic forum, but this is America.
At this point, Obama doesn't need to convince a judge, or a class of college students, or a room full of people at a business meeting. He needs to convince a bunch of dumbass undecided voters who don't grasp complex issues.
dadams @ 45:
Here's a deal--you worry about your own pants, and I'll worry about the state of the union .
If Kerry didn't intentionally throw a bone to his fellow bonesman, why did the Green Party have to step in to try to get an accurate count in Ohio?

emi @ 49:
Agreed.
P.D. @ 3:
More war criminals in one place than at any time since the end of WWII. But of course, the police will only be arresting those who protest their appearance. What a shame (or sham).
Wonderful a serial adulterer in a Dior gown. Of course his adulteries don't count because he knows a guy who was a POW for five and a half years.
The RepubliFEARconvention 2008! All terror! All the the time! Dangerous world! Gay people too! Be afraid! Be very afraid!!

Before 9/11 changed everything we were in a pre-9/11 mindset, what could we have done before 9/11 that we can do now after 9/11? We have the post-9/11 mindset while the dems are still in pre 9/11 mindset.
I'm opening a pool, who wants to bet how many times Giuliani says 9/11?
Black_Knight @ 65:
I want # 18. Put me down for 18
fastfeat @ 57:
I do believe they were all together at The Bohemian Grove on the Russian River for their little two week encampment/soiree just this past week..... Google it.
emi @ 51:
How about "notorius crossdresser, not that there's anything wrong with that" ?
mudshark @ 66:
I thinking maybe lucky number #23----9/11 Giuliani----
New Pro-Obama book coming out soon ...

Seriously, keep circulating that picture of Guilliani. It's the ugliest darn thing I've ever seen. If, god forbid, McCain wins and wants to appoint Guilliani to some post like Secretary of State then just make a million photo copies and spread them around Washington DC. Maybe someone will come to their senses.
I agree wholeheartedly with emi @ 49 and David: let's dispense with the transphobia on this site!
Rudy Freakin' Giuliani????
This is the best they can do? BLAHHHAHAHAHAAHAHA
What? Duncan Hunter wasn't available? Tancredo didn't want to make the trip to Minneapolis???
The Vegas line for the over/under bet on Juliani mentioning 9/11 in his keynote address is 5.
I'm going with the over.
brynn @ 72:
i don't take the posting of that picture of ghouliani wearing the dress as transphobia or homophobia -- more laughing at jackasses who screech like mad people about what other people do in the privacy of their own home when they're living in extremely thin-glass houses. republicans want ghouliani? let them be reminded every minute of their lives what a bloated bag of hypocrisy their "party" is.
but i do understand that people who are put upon find the joke hard to take.
And the Republicon idiots at their convention will give standing ovations to their pillars of Family Values.McCain, Ghouliani, Gingrich, Delay etc. etc. These are the people that represent the best of America, do for myself and the hek with everyone else. These shelfish Republicons are slick car salesman, they sell the millions of idiot robots who are making 1/100th these people make, that they are for you. Ghouliani, McCain and Romney don't give a crap about you! They laugh at your stupidity and you still vote for them- SHEEP!
Ghouliani married his cousin and ditched his second wife while he was living in the smae house as his family. McStain dumped his family as soon as he returned from Vietnam for a rich younger woman, yet these pseudo-Christians swoon over these frauds.
Scott @ 13:
Exactly!!
I was saying this to people all day. Until the Dems realize that the repigs see them as the enemy nothing absolutely nothing will change.
Obama and his campaign constantly refers to Mc as "war hero", "honorable", and "great American". Its totally pathetic and politically suicidal.
Now Obama is paying the political price for going easy on the political opposition. If he does go full throttle and attack Mc character the election will be lost!!
P.D. @ 3:
Puh-leese, don't forget Miss Lindsay on your list!!
I believe s/he was in the front row holding the cue cards for McGoo at the Forum the other night, and can always be counted on to whisper a few sweet nothings in McGoo's ear if Joe-ey isn't close by.
Gee, I wonder if the Singing Senators will be performing their barbershop stylings at the little repub soiree.
I am very interested to view the GOP convention to see a more clear divide.
This C&L site is great, but all we do is preach to the choir it feels like.
It's better to not be petty with political anger. Get real ammo.
OMG, many here and all over the net call these people losers. They really are not. If they appear and look like losers, that will only make it more likely that they are not prosecuted. Losers and failures are mostly not prosecuted! They do have a definite plan. Watch some clips or columns by Michael Parenti.
WE ALL LOVE A LITTLE BUSH @ 55:
A typical dumbass "murikkkan" who blabs about patriotism but can't find their own country on a map.
Rudy Giuliani, the most unattractive man in politics. He's truly ugly -- inside and out. I loved it when Joe Biden commented (in Giuliani's presence) that Giuliani was totally unqualified to run for president. That's telling him, Senator!
Every time I see this picture of Rudy I cringe. How on earth did any of his wives stay with him? Is money that important? No wonder his children don't talk to him. The GOP are consistently the party of the perverts.
Here is a preview of Bushie's performance at the convention. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f299/netluger/bushpole.gif
Here is a better video of Rudy and the Donald.

In early 2001, after Israeli Security warnings of an impending "airport attack" in the NYC area had been turned away by the Bush administration, the Israelis went to Giuliani and offered to set up an "Israel style" airport security system at NY area airports. This system, long in use in Israel and adopted by the US in the wake of 9/11, utilizes computers to scan passengers against a list of known or suspected terrorists as well as highly trained personnel to identify suspicious behavior in the airport.
Giuliani told the Israelis that NY had the "biggest and best police force in the world" and dismissed them. Months after the attacks, while contemplating how to capitalize politically on the 9/11 disaster he was forewarned of, Giuliani called the Israeli security officer who offered the services and begged him to keep it quiet ...
Idiotland @ 82:
All true maps have America in the center.
If the polls are right we are in alot of trouble.....they reflect that 45% of Americans want war, another 8 years of recession and don't give a damn about the troops. What the hell are they thinking?
I think Rudy enjoys dressing in drag a little TOO much...
j. wegener @ 88:
They're NOT right...they're manufactured BULLSHIT!
Polls schmolls!
