Joni Ernst’s ads use violent imagery but she can explain all of that in light of the horrific mass shooting. The Republican Iowa State Senator and Senate candidate referred to last Friday’s mass shooting at UC Santa Barbara as an “unfortunate accident” during a televised primary debate on Thursday evening.

Her poor choice of words are coming back to haunt her. The moderator asked about her ads so Ernst discussed the shooting which left seven people dead.
