Rep. Jason Chaffetz is no beginner when it comes to Benghazi conspiracy theories or any number of other ridiculous conservative memes and one of his pet moves has been to evoke the name of General David Petraeus. When Chaffetz questioned AG Eric Holder back on April 8th, 2014 about his Petraeus questions he never mentioned Benghazi, but he did on Fox News Wednesday.

Chaffetz: Why does this continue on for more than two years. It's time to get on with it one way or the other. Either prosecute him or lift that cloud of suspicion off his head.

Carlson: So it's your understanding that as long as this investigation remains open that Gen. Petraeus cannot testify before the select committee on Benghazi?

Chaffetz: It creates all of this hesitation, both from the department of justice and the administration as well as General Petraeus himself and the reluctance to say well I can't give you that information, we can't get into it yet, we can't answer questions yet because there's an ongoing investigation, but two years? Do one or the other. Fish or cut bait.

Carlson: The general changed his story on Benghazi.

Chaffetz: There's got to be a way in which Congress can interact with somebody who has a very unique perspective and it's not just about Benghazi...

What they are talking about is the famed CIA talking points that Susan Rice uttered on television that somehow proves there's a worse than Watergate conspiracy going on around here someplace. Was the attack motivated by the tape or was it a terrorist plot from the very start?

It's interesting that at one time, Chaffetz would have gladly licked the general's boots clean if Petraeus had requested it.
