The GOP establishment is in the type of panic mode that I've never seen before. It's taken them too many months to break through their denial on the fact that Donald Trump was going to be the 2016 Republican presidential nominee.

Once Jeb Bush, their original pick for the presidency began to implode, these grand poobahs should have started to have taken Trump seriously and attacked him if they hated him so much, but they didn't.

Their newly minted golden boy, Marco Rubio was ill equipped to make a case for himself, let alone try to be the one to take on the Donald. And everyone hates Cruz. So we are where we are.

I can't remember when I've ever seen something like this. The GOP presidential nominee from the previous election gives a speech to try and destroy the GOP's front runner in the following presidential primary cycle. The desperation is dripping off their faces.

Here's his opening words.

Romney: ...the bright horizon I described will not materialize. And let me put it very plainly. If we Republicans chose Donald Trump as the nominee, the prospects for a safe and prosperous future are greatly diminished.

First on economy, if Donald Trump's plans were ever implemented, the country would sink into prolonged recession.

As I'm typing these words, Romney is still hitting Donald Trump over the head with every piece of oppo research that Roboto and Cruz have used against him so far.

"He's a phony and a fraud, Romney said." His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University." His foreign policies would make America and the world less safe. He has neither the temperament nor the judgment to be president. And his personal qualities would mean that America would cease to be a shining city on a hill.

Romney tried to blunt Trump's reaction to his speech by telling viewers, just watch how he responds to this speech.

But Trump should come out swinging against this buffoon and I imagine he will.
