Donald Trump is taking heat from his campaign rivals and almost everybody else for telling Chris Matthews that if abortions were banned then women would face some sort of punishment for getting one.

After his words began trending everywhere, he retracted them by saying, "

the doctor or any other person performing this illegal act upon a woman would be held legally responsible, not the woman. The woman is a victim in this case as is the life in her womb.”

The damage was already done.

Today on MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Reports, California Rep. Jackie Speier was asked about Trump's words and she replied by saying, "I must say, at this point I don't think you can describe Donald Trump in any way but deranged."

"Deranged Donald, should be his label."

There are many people that feel this way, including many in the GOP.

Unfortunately, as Rep. Speier said later in the interview, most of the GOP feels the same way about abortion issues as well as limiting women's family planning options as well. She's not wrong on that either.

UPDATE: And let's not forget that Republicans already tried to pass a “let women die” conscience clause for doctors and hospital."
