Saturday Night Live writers might as well take the season off, because it's 2008 all over again. Remember when Tina Fey repeated what Sarah Palin actually said rather than try to make it funnier? This CNN segment? Same thing.
Corey Lewandowski, who is being paid by CNN to be on their network and unless it's run out is still getting severance from the Trump campaign, defended Donald Trump's very bad weekend of outreach to "his African Americans" by...and we are not making this up...demanding to know when the last time Hillary Clinton reached out to African Americans.
New York Democratic Party Executive Director Basil Smikle (again, SNL writers, take the season off) made a valiant, fact-based effort to be the grown-up in the room, reminding those still watching that the NAACP and many other African-American groups have heard from Hillary Clinton, that she has marched with them, that she has attended their conferences, listened to their issues, and has even gone so far as to link water quality in Flint with systemic racism and stand with the Mothers of the Movement against police brutality.
But CNN did not have Basil Smikle on to win on facts. This is cable news, where a blue scorpion and a red scorpion are put in the tee vee jar and shook up to fight fight fight! Corey Lewandowski wins the segment every time by telling a big lie and then yelling over everyone else until it's time to go to commercial.
