Get Well Soon, Susie!
Our own Susie Madrak is in the hospital. She's okay, but she's having some tests run following what she thought might have been a heart attack. The latest is they don't believe she had a heart attack, and they are keeping her overnight for observation. We wish her a very speedy recovery. Her individual blog is here. You may also leave good wishes for her in comments here.

Susie, we miss you already. What a scary thing to have to go through! Come back; we need you.

I post daily on Democratic Underground, and that includes MANY links back to C&L, including your posts. I'm one of probably many people who have never taken the time to say how much I appreciate your work, as well as C&L in general, but there's no time like the present...right? Keep on rockin' in the free world.
And lay off of Obama....
....for your health's sake :)
Holy Shit Susie. You are like one of my favorite posters here. Maybe you got to take it a little easy. I saw one of your recent posts you were pretty worked up. Anyway. Lots of Love and get back soon. Back in fighting shape : )

I know I've given you a hard time at times, but I really want you to get well right now. As a critical care RN, I know how scary CCU can be.
tip...don't piss off the nurses...they have the narcotics key.
speedy recovery for you Susie!!
You work so hard to keep us informed & to try & make things right.
Now is the time for things to go right for you.
I hope all is OK , that it's a false alarm . I hope you have insurance , I experienced the same thing not long ago , made the mistake of going to the ER , ended up with bills totaling about $6,000 , that's SIX grand for an EKG and a blood test , a one hour stay at most , the majority of that time laying on the bed with not a soul around , waiting for blood test results . Was diagnosed as having had a bad episode of palpitations ( heart damage from previous heart attacks ) . Just thinking about it gets my blood boiling and makes me want to launch into a major profanity filled rant .
Insanity , it is what it is , there is no understanding it .
Hang in there Susie. Hope you're feeling better now.

Hurry back kid, there's a giant hurricane about to hit a big-ass, smoldering Dominion Nuke plant right by where Rick and Michele want to move the capitol... only you can do it justice!

real, honey-smoked Amish too! Maybe she'd prefer something from Russ&Daughter's instead? There's about to be a big SALE!
Get well SOON and try not to worry about the hospital bills. They can't eat you, even if it feels like they are threatening to..

Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease
Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr., M.D.

A groundbreaking program backed by the irrefutable results from Dr. Esselstyn’s 20-year study proving changes in diet and nutrition can actually cure heart disease
Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States for men and women. But, as Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr., a former internationally known surgeon, researcher and clinician at the Cleveland Clinic, explains in this book it can be prevented, reversed, and even abolished. Dr. Esselstyn argues that conventional cardiology has failed patients by developing treatments that focus only on the symptoms of heart disease, not the cause.
Based on the groundbreaking results of his 20-year nutritional study—the longest study of its kind ever conducted—this book explains, with irrefutable scientific evidence, how we can end the heart disease epidemic in this country forever by changing what we eat. Here, Dr. Esselstyn convincingly argues that a plant-based, oil-free diet can not only prevent and stop the progression of heart disease, but also reverse its effects.
The proof is in the results. The patients in Dr. Esselstyn’s initial study came to him with advanced coronary artery disease. Despite the aggressive treatment they received, among them bypasses and angioplasties, 5 of the original group were told by their cardiologists they had less than a year to live. Within months on Dr. Esselstyn’s program, their cholesterol levels, angina symptoms, and blood flow improved dramatically. Twelve years later 17 compliant patients had no further cardiac events. Adherent patients survived beyond twenty years free of symptoms.
I went on his diet less than 2 months ago, and have lost weight, gained energy and lowered my blood sugar. Check it out and best wishes.
I hope you have an easy and speedy recovery.
but first, get well. Please take care and don't take chances with your health. We're all rooting for you.
....BTW, it was probably indigestion. LOL
Get well. If you're unemployed, you are medically indigent, and if you have young'uns, you should have been on Medicaid long ago. Hospital social worker may be able to sign you up and get retroactive coverage, if she can prove that you were eligible prior to the medical event.
Take every option you can get, including bankruptcy, if necessary. I had an hour (so help me!) in the ER last year for an on-the-job needle stick, and the ER and physician bills were over $1000, with a month's meds to prevent HIV and hepatitis which totaled over $800. No insurance, contract worker, minimum wage, which is now just a fraction too much to qualify for Medicaid. Boss did pay $500 of it.
Take first-class care of yourself. You deserve it, just for the fighting you've done. Awareness and intelligence are their own sources of stress, in a corrupt and stupid world.
Especially me. :^)
Keep that troponin level low. Are they working up your gallbag?
